The salty smell, the rocking of the ship, the snoreing sound of lazy crew. All where welcome sounds for Captain Nicolett. She sat up by the wheel, her eyes scanning the rocking waves of the ocean for any dangers to her mighty find ship, and her not so great crew. Not that she cared much for them, give the few she actually liked. One of which being her own first mate. A fine Shade Runner dragon by the name of Amaracuine. The finest first mate and beast of the seas. Like no other, this dragon was the perfect pirate. Leaning against the side of the boat, Nicolett's three swords clattered together in a soft jingling noise. She sighed happily as she watched her ship crash easily through the waater.

Speak of the first mate and the furry tall dragon stood holding the wheel of the ship, The Flaming Seas, steady as she goes. The black and white stripped dragon had sharp eyes. Long ears twitched, listening to every sound of the ship as he steered without fail. Amaraciune was this pirate dragon's name, and a shade runner was his breed. A black bandana with a joly rodger tightly tied to the creature's head, his three tails shifted in different directions behind him. His ears twitched as the sound of Nicolett singing reached them, and the dragon couldn't help but smile.

"Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate's life for me..."

It wasn't that Lavvi was afraid of the water. It was falling and dying horribly that made her nervous. She'd wondered about the odds of the ship sinking when going below deck, into the hold, which was the only place she found to be sufficiently dry. She let out a yawn and picked at the inside of her ear with a finger on one hand, while scratching herself in a decidedly un-ladylike fashion with her other.
The Ifrit hadn't been aboard the Flaming Seas for very long. And she was beginning to get bored.
If she wasn't needed for the only thing she'd been hired to do, she had decided to leave at the next port they arrived at.
She pulled a knife off her belt and flicked it open. She began to mindlessly carve designs onto the planks of the floor.
"If I don't get to burn something, I swear I'm gonna end up torching this ship," she muttered, propping her elbow on her thigh and holding her face in her hand.

Dorloan floated around on the waves in the ocean. Where was he? How had he ended up floating in the ocean? And why the hell couldn't he use any of his powers? His whole body was drained of energy, he could barely even keep himself afloat. He sighed and looked down into the cool blue water. This is how he was going to die. Drifting in the ocean, no one around to witness it. He was just going to vanish without anyone knowing. Then he saw it. A sea vessel. A ship of some sorts off in the distance. He had to move towards them. Hopefully the crew could help him to recover his strength. Too bad he was so drained. If he hadn't been then he would have payed more attention to the obvious black flag with a skull and crossbones on it. The jolly roger. Pirates!

Nicolett finished her song and headed below the deck, leaving Amaraciune to keep her beloved steady, and floating. She didn't have any worries of anything happening to her baby in Amaraciune's paws. Sighing, Nicolett walked through the keep where her sprogs slept. How little she cared for any of them. They mearly kept her ship clean and running. That was the only use she had for them. Well, all except one. The girl that liked to lit things on fire just as much as she did. Smashing a bottle open against the side of her ship showering a sprog with the top part of the glass. "What ye be sayin' bout torchin' me ship?" she asked sipping the grog casually. The Stupid Sprog didn't even wake up, and she wondered for half of second if maybe he'd drunk himself dead. Oh well if he had. She really didn't care much. "Ye know, if ye be thinkin' 'bout torchin' me ship, I'd a have ta keelhaul ya."

Amaraciune looked out, with one paw on the steering wheel, and one on a telescope. He yawned lazily as he scouted the waves in the direction he was heading. Out of sheer boredum he decided to scout other areas. This led to him spotting a man out in the water. Confused he looked closer, and looked surprised. Reaching back with his tail, he wound it around the bell's rope and rung it clear and loud out across the deck. "Floater!" he called out loud enough for others to hear. Slowly the sprogs of the ship would be up and on deck for the sighting of the floater.

Lavvi turned at the sound of the captain's voice and grinned devilishly. She eyed the bottle of grog rather jealously. After an incident involving a barrel of rum and a burning sail, Lavvi had been banned from drinking on the ship. "Well Cap'n, if we don't find some unfortunately placed vessel to torch before next port, I may have to leave and take the rest of the rum with me."
Her ears suddenly twitched as the sound of the bell and dragon's voice reached her. She tried to look over the captain's shoulder, despite the fact that there was no way she'd be able to see whatever it was that he was yelling about anyway.
"Well," she grinned again. "Maybe I won't have to leave you after all."

Was that a bell in the direction of the vessel? Dorloan couldn’t tell. His vision was spotty at best. His muscles were weakened to the point that he couldn’t even paddle anymore. At least he had gotten himself to float in the direction of the ship before he couldn’t move. All he could do now was hope that they would pick him up before he sank into the ocean. Never to be thought of again.

Nicolett rolled her eyes at the girl. On the one hand, she was rather amusing. At least when she wasn't torching her cap'n's ship. However, on the other hand. A part of Nicolett wanted to keelhaul the girl for the hell of it. Just to see what would happen when you drag a creature like her under the rudders of a ship like this one. As the bell sounded, she turned her head in the direction of the stairs. "My, my," she said to Lavvi, "Ain't I lucky to have found a distraction from ye troubles." Nicolett turned from the girl and headed towards the stairs. She dumped the grog onto one of the sprog's heads and when he jumped up with a start she remarked coldly. "Follow me, ye be goin' swimmin'. Now." The man jumped out of his cot and hurried after his cap'n.

Amaraciune turned the ship, ringing the bell more for all hands on deck. "Come on ye mangy sea dogs, get this girl turned 'bout! We be needin' those sails turned in the direction o' dat floater right quick. Get a move on ye lazy rats!" He spotted Nicolett and the bell ringing sessed. "Cap'n," he said nodding his head to her as she joined him. He handed her the telescope and pointed in the direction of the floater with few exchanged words. Nicolett nodded, and turned to the man. "Ye be goin' swimmin'. Go on." The man looked at her stunned, but Amaraciune's growl got him going. Running to the side of the ship he leaped overboard.

"Amaraciune, be a good mate and lover the life boat. I got me ship for a bit," Nicolett said. The shade runner nodded and headed towards the life boats. The man on the other hand was swimming towards Dorloan and once he'd reach him, there would be no speaking, only tugging him back along towards the ship and life boat. And once that would be reached, they'd be hoisted back up onto the ship.

"Aye, you be lucky," she said, partially joking. She'd yet to pick up how to properly use pirate lingo and she suspected it grated on the captain's nerves when she used it wrong.
The Ifrit followed the captain to the upper deck, covering her ears from all the racket. She followed the captain to the shadow runner first mate, perhaps not exactly according to protocol, but she didn't actually have a job aboard the ship and she didn't have anything else to do. Better to slightly annoy the captain than get in the way of the crew and end up having the entire ship sink.

There was a slight tugging from behind Dorloan. Maybe it was the waves changing their direction. Maybe fate didn’t want him to be brought onto that ship. Oh well. If this was his end so be it. What was this though? He felt something tugging him out of the water onto something dry, wood he thought. He turned his head slightly to see what this was. The muscles in his neck cramped up as he did so, but he got what he wanted. He was being pulled into a lifeboat. The ship had come to pick him up. “Finally, no more water,” was his last thought before he passed out.

"Hoist the Life boat you lazy sea dogs. Not the anchor you rats! The life boat!" Nicolett called orders as she headed down towards the life boat and where Amaraciune was standing. She'd left the wheel to another sprog, one who actually was a step up than the others. She took there and waited while the boat was pulled back up to its possition. The Sprog she'd sent to retrieve the floater kneeled next to the man. She dismissed him with a wave, and he left. She didn't bother any kindness to him. A sprog was a sprog, nothing more. Amaracuine moved towards the man and put a long ear to his chest. "Breathin' Cap'n," he said looking over at her and moving away form the man.

"Fetch me some grog Amaracuine," Nicolett said calmly as she kneeled by the man. She searched him carefully, looking for anything that would say anything about him, but found nothing. "LAVVI!" she called out looking for the girl. "Warm 'im, and dun ye be littin' 'im on fire now," she warned. Amaracuine returned with the grog and Nicolett turned on the sprogs watching. "What ye be doin' ye lazy rats! Back to work with the lot 'o ya! Swab the deck, clean up, do something that be useful!" The men scattered quickly and she took the grog from the shade-runner. "Thank ye," she said to Amaracuine. "Now off to the wheel with ya if ye please," she said. Amaraciune nodded and backed away, so Nicolett returned her attention to the man, she lifted his head and poured the grog down his throat, forcing him to swallow.

"Well, Cap'n it'd be easier for me if it weren't for the fact that he brought the ocean on board with him. Ever seen one of my kind touch water? It's sort of like one of your kind touching acid."
She shrugged. "But shouldn't be too bad of a problem for the Great and Powerful Lavvi, now should it?"
She concentrated for a moment, and let the air heat up around her. It had been so long since she'd be able to use her powers while sober, she almost lost control out of pure excitement. Sparks flew around her fists as tongues of flame tried to escape her grasp, and threads of flame weaved themselves through her hair.
The water on deck evaporated, and within moments the man was bone dry. The few sparks left, playfully threatening the fabric of his clothes and the planks of the deck soon vanished, and all was as it had been before.
Lavvi stood back and admired her work, throwing a proud - perhaps slightly gloating - glance in the direction of the captain.

Voices were everywhere. Dor heard whispers then a booming voice, must’ve been the captain of the ship. He felt the air get warm and all the water on his body evaporated along with any water in the air. Someone was using magic on this ship, he could tell that much even in his weakened state. He felt his head being tilted into an upright position then a cool liquid passed over his lips. The liquid was refreshing to his dry mouth so he swallowed. He immediately regretted it. The liquid ran down the back of his throat and it felt like a wildfire was being set inside of him. He coughed and sputtered up what was left in his mouth. “I’m awake you fool,” he said between his coughing. His vision cleared slightly and he could make out a woman looming over him. “Thank you, but that was very unnecessary.”

Nicolett was watching the Ifrit work her magic, and she had to admit it was something of beauty. She knew she'd still be able to take the demon on, for she had one advantage over the girl. Or maybe two. One, she was the Cap'n, and Two, she knew the girl's weakness. "Ye done good, Lavvi," Nicolett said. Not one to give compliments a few of the other sprogs gasped in there work. It truely was a rare occurance. That was about the man spoke and spit the grog all over the ship, which caused a few growls from Nicolett's mem for a few different reasons. Amaraciune growled from how he'd adressed her, and the rest of the sprogs for having more work to do now.

Nicolett laughed, a bell like sound that was soothing despite her hard attitute. She thought this man was mearly amusing, although, she was the captain of this ship, and if she let it go unpunished, that could start a mutiney. The odds of that were so low though, but she still had to settle that. So she turned her full attention on the man and with a dagger look, she spoke with malice. "Sir," she said darkly, "Ye be speakin' to a cap'n o' dis ship. Ye be best showin' respect o' me just be keelhaulin' ye instead o' allowin' ye to be ridin' me ship."

Lavvi smirked smugly, having decided that she was going to enjoy her new position of 'Captain's Favourite Lackey'. For the time being at least. "I could set him ablaze, if ye want me to, Cap'n. Never seen a man talk back after that. 'Specially not if we put him out by tossin' him into the ocean. Salt water works wonders on third degree burns." She let fires flash in her eyes and around her fingers. Her smile widened, revealing her sharp teeth. It had been far too long since she'd had any fun.

”I meant no offense to you captain, my humblest apologies. I just don’t appreciate it when I am force fed grog after being rescued. Thank you for trying to help, but in no way would alcohol help me to recover.” Dorloan still couldn’t move his arms and legs at will, but he could maneuver his neck now. He turned to look at the ship he was on, taking what he could see in and making sure he memorized it. He heard another voice begin to speak and turned to look in its direction.

The female that had spoken had dark skin and fire red hair. As she smiled her toothy smile and her eyes lit up like a fire had been ignited in them, now he understood how he had been dried out so quickly. He glanced down and saw the tongues of fire licking off of her fingers and he squint his eyes in concern. “You, Ifrit, will be doing no such thing to me. I promise you that if you try anything on me you will regret it in the future. I do not have the strength to retaliate in my weakened state, but I do not forget nor forgive those who wrong me very easily.”

Nicolett snarled to herself at the man's remarks. She wanted nothing more than to throw the man back over board with the way he was acting. Of course the grog was needed, was he stupid in the head? He didn't look like it, but then again, he might have been. Either way he was getting on her nerves and she didn't have much patience with people who didn't respect her. The sprogs of the ship were glancing between their captain and this new man nervously. They didn't want to see what would happen if he angered there captain anymore.

Nicolett glared at the man as she spoke to him. "Are ye dumb?" she snarled. "Had me not poured it down ye throat ye'd be as good to we as shark bait. Ye be passed out thar," she sneered the last word at him, "sir." With that she turned to a sprog. "Tie a chain to dis man's ankle and put it to the mast. I dun want 'o see trouble on me ship." She walked away then leaving the man to fet the chain she asked. She'd reply on Lavvi to make sure her orders were filled out.

Lavvi's grin hadn't gone away, and it looked more like a starving wolf's that a human's. She knelt near the man, never talking her eyes off of him. "If ya' try anything on me, I can promise ya' that the Cap'n is more on my side than yours. An' the rest of the crew is more on her side than yours, as well. I 'ave to admit, I'm kinda hopin' you'll put a foot outta line - I've been wantin' to try shark for a long time now." She was only vaguely aware of the ring of flame rolling between her fingers like a coin.
When the sprog came back with the chain, she stood. She didn't plan on helping him - unless she absolutely needed to, of course - only watching and seeing what the man did.

Dor was still too out of it to really to completely understand what the captain and the Ifrit were talking about. This ship was rather large for him to just have happened upon it. Where were they headed? What kind of ship was this? What were they up to? Too many questions were going through his head right now, and he couldn’t think clearly. He still couldn’t remember how he had been so weakened in the first place and he was very concerned by this. He heard something about a chain and the mast and was stirred out of his thinking.

This was a load of crap; Dor didn’t want to be chained to the mast by the ankle. Sadly though he wasn’t able to fight back, it was hard enough for him to walk let alone struggle against the two ships hands that were helping him. The Ifrit walked by him, watching the two men carry him. She was obviously supervising, making sure he didnt try anything. “This is just great,” he thought to himself. What else could possibly go wrong?

The man put the chain around Dorloan's one ankle and went about to chaining the other end to the mast. It was about that time that what Dorloan's thoughts were would turn to be famouse last words. Seeing as about that time the bell rang. A noise that pieced the working air of the ship. It came from the crow's nest and was followed by the shouting. "CAP'N! TRADE VESSEL TO FOR PORT!" And Aye there was a large trade ship just to the left of the front of the ship. Nicolett's smile curled into a wicked grin on her lips. Now it was time for some fun, just as Lavvi had asked for.

"ALRIGHT YE LAZY SEA DOGS SUIT UP! THIS BE A RAID!" With that, Nicolett started to sing in a soft voice that sounded more like the songs of the mermaids and sirens. Amaracuine took to the ordering around by now. As the shade runner spoke, fog and mist started to raise from the ocean and engulf the ship. "Come now ye sea rats! Swords, Bombs! Get it movin'! Load 'em canons! Get tee boardin' planks at tee ready! We be takin' over dis ship! Then burnin' it to tee ground!" The ship lurked forwards, picking up speed as Nicolett sung and steered her vessle. The Fog growing thicker and more dense as the pirate ship sailed closer to the trading vessle.

Lavvi allowed a laugh to rake through her. She glanced at the man tied to the mast, decided that he wouldn't be any trouble, and turned away. Her toothy grin was soon swallowed in flame and she felt fire crawling up all around her. She laughed again, watching the trading vessel off the bow until the fog engulfed it from her sight. Her footsteps scorched the floorboard of the ship as she walked across it, not enough to cause damage, but she was too excited to not leave marks. She leaned on the railing of the larboard side. She didn't care that she looked more like a giant wisp of flame than any living being. But then again, Lavvi was something of a show off.

There was a cold feeling as the man put the chain around Dorloan’s ankle. This was really unnecessary, but he understood why the captain had done this. Definitely couldn’t have mutiny on her ship. He heard the pirate from the crow’s nest above him and looked around to spot the ship. Sure enough there it was, not that he cared much. He tried to make out what kind of ship it was, but his line of sight was blurred as a mist rolled in and he heard soft singing coming from the captain. What in the hell was this woman? She definitely wasn’t an ordinary pirate ship captain.

Dor slid down the mast he was chained to and sat with his back against it. “Hooray,” he said in mach enthusiasm. If the captain wanted him chained here then he couldn’t do anything to help or hinder them. It wasn’t like he couldn’t escape if he wanted to. All he need do was melt the chain with magic, but he respected this ship captain more than to break her rules twice. So Dor sat. He sat there with his back against the mast and watched the ship captain, studying her, trying to figure out what exactly she was.

Everything was dead silent just then. Nothing stirred. Not even the waves seemed to make a noise as Nicolett's ship sailed through the fog and over took the other ship easily enough. The other ship seemed just as quiet. It was impossible to tell to where the other ship was. Even Nicolett had stopped singing, and yet, the fog grew higher and more dense. It engulfed all sight, all sound. Nothing was left untouched. Nothing at all. Then suddenly a signal was given, loud and sharp. "FIRE!" Amaracuine cried. "NOW!" Explosions sounded. and the fog once white, lite up in bright flashes of orange and red.

Cries from the other ship sounded as men fell into the water and wood splintered in the air. The noises of chaos sounded from the other ship as those who were left above the decks hurried around trying to figure out what had happened. "Cannons sir!" one man cried. Nicolett's smile grew. Her demonic form bursting out suddenly as she leaped into the air and her wings flapped behind her. "Go ye lazy sea rats! Board de ship! Take no prisoners! Leave de cap'n 'o me!" With that the men on her ship threw the boarding planks over and they were now connected to the other ship. The pirates pulled there swords out and raced over to do as there captain had ordered. The fog died down and dissolved suddenly. Total chaos was the view.

Lavvi could have melted the ship entirely. She could have sat atop a pillar of flame and watched the sailors, and undoubtedly several pirates, drown. She could have floated across boiling air to the safety of the Flaming Sea. A smile spread across her face. She loved that name. She loved the idea, the thought of setting the sea aflame.
It may have been a laugh that escaped her. It may have been an excited yell. To any human hearing it though - whether they were friend or foe - it was the warcry of a demon, raking through their very consciences and sending shivers through them.
The boarding plank that she had crossed no longer existed. It had burned away under her feet. Only one sailor had tried to challenge her as she came aboard.
Her eyes had flared and licks of flame caressed her form. Tendrils spread to her fingertips, which she ran through the man. He proved no different than the boarding plank.
She set the mast ablaze and watched the flame devour the crow's nest. A pillar of smoke rose to greet the passing clouds. It looked beautiful.
Lavvi laughed again.

Dorloan was slightly surprised when Nicolett changed forms but only slightly. That answered all his questions about the things that had happened up to this point. So Nicolett was a crow demon. He was on board a pirate ship with an ifrit and a crow demon. Lovely! The sounds of sailors screaming reached his ears and he leaned back against the mast. He really couldnt do anything as long as he was tied up here.
