Hydra had somehow wandered away from her normal wandering patch and gotten lost in VERY unfamiliar territory. "Oh for the love of glaciers! Lost again!" She decided to just find a tree to sit in and nap, but even that was interrupted when she smelled something new. "That's not normal..." she muttered as she looked around. She flew up into the nearest tree and waited for whatever it was to come into view. "Now where are you, creature...?" she mumbled looking around, her tail swishing back and forth. She had never seen any other kinds of dragon but her own kind up in the ice plains. "Wonder what it could be..."

PostSubject: Re: [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child   [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child Icon_minitimeSat Oct 15, 2011 8:32 pm

“Bloody freaking bogs and their flipping being in places I want to go…” a constant string of curses followed the moody desert chaser trying to pick a clear path through the horrible mucky woods that he had somehow- not for the first time- wandered in to. It was apparently becoming a rather nasty habit of Syn's, very much to his own disgust. However, he had to make the best of it- one day he would invariably be able to find his way out of the bogs, as well as in.

But for now, he was stuck, badly navigating his way back (hopefully) towards the desert. At least there was nobody around to see his misfortune…
“Ah, ya gotta be kidding me,” he said as he picked up a faint voice nearby, rolling his eyes in disbelief and coming to a halt. His ears were sensitive enough to pick up sounds from quite a radius, and whoever had spoken had been quiet, but not quiet enough. Starting to pad forwards again, he scoured both the ground and the air for whoever it was that had spoken- two leg? Lunch. Dragon? Possible minion. Either way it was all turning up roses for the desert chaser. A cruel smile spread across his lips as he caught sight of a pale smudge in a tree in front of him, the dragon looking exactly the wrong way to be seeing him.

She kept looking around but looked everywhere but behind her but soon relaxed and yawned. "Oh well, I guess it'll show up sometime." She shuts her eyes and had just begun to drift off when she heard something and was up on her feet, not the best move. She ended up on the ground and a very displeased hiss was exhaled as she stood and regained her footing in the soft mud. "A curse on useless plants and mud alike! I miss the snow and the ice and NO HEAT!" She shook some mud off her wings and stayed at the base of the tree. "There's that weird smell again. It's not human...or humanOID...What is it!?" she ended up more frustrated than she had been and gave up.

PostSubject: Re: [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child   [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child Icon_minitimeTue Oct 18, 2011 6:48 pm

A smirk crept across Syn's face as he saw the dragon in the tree relax, doing exactly the opposite of what the desert chaser himself might do if cooped up in a tree- for one, he didn't have wings, so being so far above the ground would have been quite the worry for him, let alone a feat of actually getting into a tree in the first place. He crept up to the tree the small dragon was perched in, watching her from underneath until she (quite predictably, in his opinion), fell out of it.

Any other dragon would have laughed- it was just to comic a scene not to laugh at. Syn however, just looked unimpressed, and stepped backwards was she ruffled her wings free of mud and ranted to herself. Apparently the mud was quite distracting, as she didn't seem to notice him.
"I should surely hope I don't smell like one of those filthy beasts," he commented dryly as she crouched underneath the tree, stepped around its side to inspect her more closely. "I might have to beat you if you compared such a fine dragon such as myself to a two-leg." He wrinkled his nose, disgusted at the state of her scales. "You don't have much of a pleasing odour either however; did you pick the muddiest patch of this godforsaken bog to fall in on purpose?"

"I'm from a place covered in ice and snow mud is NOT my forte!" She looked at him and and blinked. "And what in Hades are you? I've never seen anything so weird looking before. And excuse me for being stuck in a human city and nearly being trampled every day when I try to walk! They're disgusting disrespectful and nonsensical creatures!" She iced the mud still on her and shook it off. "What in the world are you anyway? You don't look like a dragon. You look like you have a feather duster attached to your tail! Though to be honest I've never seen any other dragons but my own kind so I guess you 'could' be a dragon." She lightly stepped around him and looked him over. "I'm Hydra, who're you?"

PostSubject: Re: [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child   [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child Icon_minitimeThu Oct 20, 2011 7:32 pm

Syntribos raised one "eyebrow" as the little dragon explained herself, his ears flicking back in distaste at her insult, unintentional or no. Well, if there was a way to make a good first impression, this was not the way of going about it- and the desert chaser wasn't one to forgive an insult, even one that wasn't meant as it was.
"I would watch your tongue more closely, or talking won't be your forte," he growled, ears twitching backwards again. What sort of a dragon was this; apparent disgust of humans (which was much in his own view of the filthy creatures), but also a way of insulting any other than her own kin. Who would be strange creatures indeed- ice? What a horrid little dragon.

"You really don't know how to control your mouth, do you? I suppose you'll make some sort of excuse on your 'young age' next. I'm a desert chaser- if you had any knowledge in your pea of a brain, you would have known that." He narrowed his eyes at her as she stepped around him, tightening his front claws into the ground before quickly releasing them again as the ground squelched with water. A low growl rumbled from his throat and he stepped forwards, pressing his face close against the small dragon's. "You want, after all that sandworm trash that's come out your mouth, you want to know my name too? That would be like me accepting that this conversation is actually happening. I don't give out freebies to bugs- don't give out freebies to nobody." His tail twitched in annoyance as he stared at the ice dragon, then he swiftly turned away, snorting with disgust.

She faltered a bit as he threatened her but swallowed her fear and pride and followed him. "W-Wait...!" She hopped a few feet and hardened the mud so it would be easier to walk on. "If...If you're lost I can help...Just gotta get out of these trees and I can point you in the right direction." She didn't mean to insult anyone! "We both don't like mud so...I get off the ground and you get a temporary compass. All I ask is please don't kill me." She froze a weird looking creepy crawly in the mud and shuddered. "Tons of parasites around here I've been freezing them nonstop. No dragon deserves to deal with them doesn't matter what they've done."

PostSubject: Re: [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child   [Syn & Hydra] Little Wandering Child Icon_minitimeSat Oct 22, 2011 3:44 pm

A deep breath was definitely required as the little dragon started to follow Syn, but he could hardly keep the dislike out of his voice as he turned to speak to her again. "I need no help from a pathetic little dragon such as yourself." His lips curled into a sneer- a false sneer. Her words actually sounded quite tempting; he hadn't a clue how to get out of the trees. For once, his sense of direction seemed to have deserted him- who knew trees could be so misleading when it came to directions?

Any other dragon would have realised that they were being stupid and would have promptly apologised and asked for assistance, but Syntribos was not any other dragon. The laughter that followed Hydra’s words wasn’t directed at himself, but at the ice dragon. “Kill you? Do you really think I would waste my energy on a pathetic little dragon like you? Oh please.” He sniffed in dismissal, wrinkling his nose. “Why don’t you go up into the trees anyway, that way I don’t have to carry on having to listen to your incessant yapping on.” He looked pointedly upwards, waiting for Hydra to leave him in peace- and he would be able to follow too, even if she was fast in the sky. Nothing could outpace a desert chaser over a long endurance run.

She stopped talking and sat in front of him her head down. "I'm sorry..." What she said following that was very quiet and almost indecipherable, but the words were there. "Hardly remember my mother, let alone anything she taught me." She turned to the nearest tree and sighed as she vanished into the branches only to come back down. "North/Northeast is the direction you should go in." She gestured in the proper direction and attempted to re-assume her air of pride. She stayed in the safety of the trees, feeling more at home up in the air than down on the ground. She wasn't about to try and explain her kind to this rather outlandish and contemptuous dragon, he'd likely do something to hurt her. She stayed a few feet ahead of him overhead but stayed quiet nonetheless.

Syn rolled his eyes as Hydra finally left him alone to go up into the trees again, ruffling his mane into the perfect shape again and giving his tail a quick groom. “Fine, right, whatever,” he said at her directions, trying to shrug off the fact that she had helped him innumerably. Only one thing was worse than being lost in a foresty bog, and that was being lost in a foresty bog and going the wrong direction to home. At least she had the sense to stay in the treetops now as he padded off slowly in the direction she had pointed, keeping his nose haughtily in the air- which just made it easier for her to talk to him.

It also made it quite difficult for him to notice things on the ground. The ground was just something solid underfoot, a thing that didn’t need notice taking of it, because it was always just there. So he missed the tripwire laid carefully across the ground under a layer of leaves. And it was more than a bit of a surprise when two large nets suddenly swung out from two of the closest trees to him, hooking firmly around his legs and sending him crashing to the floor, before that too gave way and he was left suspended over a deep pit and a rather nasty (but quite ingenious) set of spikes at the bottom of it.

She jumped in her spot on a tree limb and looked at him petrified. "Of all the things to run into in a place like this! Hold on I'll see if I can get you down!" She fluttered to the ground only to land on a bear trap which promptly snapped shut on her back left leg. "HELLFIRE!" she screeched painfully causing the ground around her for three feet to freeze. She tugged and yanked at the infernal thing with a whine only for it to hurt worse. "G-Give me a minute...!" she stammered yanking the stake holding the trap down out of the ground. She took off much to the relief of her back leg and landed between a few of the spikes in the bottom of the pit in order to knock them over or dull them so he could get loose. She looked up at the giant who seemed to hate her so much and pressed on.

Syn couldn’t help the little whimper that escaped his lips as he dangled over the pit that had suddenly opened up underneath him, eyes fixed on the nasty looking spears that really weren’t that enticing. They flicked briefly to Hydra as she fluttered down from the treetops, his ears instantly flattening back against his head at her scream. He would have said something, but she seemed so intent on helping him… it could wait.

Since when did he wait to make snarky comments? Something here was badly wrong.

He stayed perfectly still as she freed herself from the trap she had managed to get herself stuck in (how she could be so clumsy, it was a mystery), watching the little dragon scrabble around and free the space underneath him of spikes. Well, she actually did have some sort of use after all. He started to squirm as she cleared a patch beneath him, wrigging free of the netting that had caught him and dropping clean onto the ice dragon with a howl of dislike. Ah, that was what the little dragon was good at being. A pillow.

She felt his enormous weight crash onto her and by some amount of luck she'd retained she had no real damage done to her body that wasn't already there. "You need to lay off the human flesh." She crawled out from under him the bear trap still stuck to her ankle and causing her to lose blood every time she moved. "Too much to ask if you'd get this thing off my leg I suppose." She knew something had to be broken because standing on it hurt like Hades and then some. "Nice to see you were unharmed though." She gave him a slight nudge to get him moving a small whine making its way out of her throat from the pain in her leg.

“Shutup whelp,” Syn muttered as he picked himself up off Hydra, flicking his tail out of the way of the dangerously close spike that was just waiting to impale his precious pride and joy. Nothing was going to damage his tail, and if anything even touched it, he would make sure it wasn’t around for much longer than a clawswipe. The sides of the pit they were stuck in were quite steep, and without the extra manoeuvring space that Hydra was taking up, there was no way he was going to be able to get out of there. Which meant he had to help the little ice dragon.

“Fine!” he growled angrily, narrowing his eyes at her as she nudged his side. Carefully stepping around in a circle, he rested his front paws either side of the trap that her leg was caught in then, in one fast movement, leant down on them, the jaws of the trap creaking open and freeing Hydra.
“Happy? Don’t think you’ll be getting another favour like this off me,” he said grumpily, turning his face away and looking up to the real ground level again.

She gave a few flaps of her wings and hovered at his eye level before licking the side of his face. "More than." She glanced around and looked at some of the vines hanging down out of the trees. She looked at the hole from ground level and sat in thought. "Hmm..." She debated digging and then decided to gather the broken spikes into a pile for him to climb on when the hole was done. "I'm gonna dig a way out. I'm not responsible for you getting covered in dirt and mud!" She furiously started digging away at the soft mushy earth ignoring the pain for the moment, just long enough to get a few feet into the ground. She flew down again and judged how far she'd gotten before frowning. 'This is going to be a while.' she thought.

Syn sneered in disgust at Hydra’s friendly lick, sticking his tongue out and turning his face away. “Ugh…” The little dragon needed to learn some manners- or some sense; licking a dragon like the haughty desert chaser was one day going to get her in big trouble. There was no putting her off though, she was just too eager for her own good.

“Oh, not more mud!” he exclaimed as the little ice dragon furiously started digging, inching back across the pit as far as he could go. “And you’ve gone and started digging already… great, thank you.” He continued to mutter darkly under his breath, shooting her black looks every time a particularly large clod of dirt was thrown in his direction. Today really was turning into the worst day he could imagine.

The little dragon was making quite the kafuffle digging, and any sounds outside the hole were difficult to hear- so when there was a shout from above, then a bright round human face appeared at the top of the hole, it was quite the surprise. The human disappeared again as soon as he had appeared, apparently hailing his fellows to come and see what had fallen into their trap. Who was going to come off worse was going to be interesting- being stuck down in the pit, Syn couldn’t do anything more than growl and look angry. Which he was. Very angry.

"Look if you want I'll just leave you here and let the humans do to you what they did to my family! I don't HAVE to help you but I chose to anyway. You've proven to me more than once already that you act more human than you think! You're careless, conceited, and destructive just like these disgusting two-legged creatures! The very thing you hate you are becoming." She finally noticed the humans around her and backed away from the hole. She looked around and tried to avoid any other traps that might be hidden on the ground. Her sore leg caused her to fall quite a lot and she eventually just sat on the ground her wings folded back. "I just hope they don't try to kill me."

Syn's ears flicked back angrily as Hydra suddenly burst into a rant, a growl exploding from his throat at her words.
"Come down here and say that to my face you little runt, I'll show you what it means to be dragon! I'm not interested in your pathetic little sob story, and I'm anything but what you say I am! I'll have nothing to do with that scum and I'll hear noone speak of them in relation to me without feeling my claws." He stood up on his back paws, resting his front ones on the dirt wall in front of him and trying to snap at the little ice dragon, his pelt all bristly from anger.

She backed out of sight as more humans appeared, Syn snarling and pacing around his prison like an angry cat, his tail twitching from side to side."Get back here you coward!" he shouted, trying to provoke Hydra to returning- she would probably be too terrified of the gathered humans though. He swung out a paw as one dropped a net over his back, squirming to get it off his back before it tangled around his legs. There was suddenly a sharp pain in his shoulder as he was distracted, and he turned to see a feathered dart sticking out of his pelt, blown by one of the hunters gathered at the top of the pit. He sneered and scratched it away, but not before the sleeping potion it was laced with had started into his bloodstream...

She watched the humans attempt to capture him before one blew a dart and for some reason it reminded her of when she was a helpless hatchling watching her family die. "Not again, it will NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!" She ran at the nearest human and lodged her teeth in the back of his leg in fury. "He may be an ass but he's a better creature than you!" She hissed and growled after spitting out the chunk of flesh she'd bitten from his leg, which subsequently left frostbite from how long her icy jaws were clamped there. She looked at Syn and spat human blood at the edge of the pit. She noticed the tangled net and groaned. "Damn you for getting into such trouble! If you didn't have such a problem with your ego then you'd have noticed the trip line in the first place!"

Syn tried to scramble up the side of the pit again as the humans swarmed around its edge, his front legs scratching dirt and rocks out of the vertical wall in front of him. He dropped back to the ground after one try, shaking his head and stepping backwards, his head feeling fuzzy. The net tangled around his back legs and he tripped, sinking to the floor with his front paws stretched out in front of him, a little like a statue of a sphinx.

He knew there was all sorts of madness going on up at the top of the pit, but for the life of him, he couldn’t work out quite what it was.
“Trouble? I eat… munch on trouble for breakfast,” he said blearily, looking up at the little ice dragon. She swum in front of his eyes, turning into two dragons, then turning bright orange, which was a strange colour for any dragon to turn, let alone the normally pale ice dragon.

The desert chaser still had enough of his dignity left to remain hurt by Hydra’s next words, his tail flicking from side to side- and tangling up in the net even more. “I… You’re the one with the problem with my ego. My ego has no problem with itself.” Yes, that was right. It was… wasn’t it?

Hydra looked into the pit once after someone had come after her with a net and failed. "Get up here! You eat humans right?" She hid up in a tree to get away from them and panicked when a blur of white came onto the scene and ripped one of the humans in half, sending the upper body into the pit and swallowing the lower half in one bite. Hydra quickly forgot about the Chaser and flew up higher into the trees. "So getting out of there, forget my promise."
***
Mirage had come bounding onto the scene after following the shouting and arguing of both the two dragons and a few hunters who had set the trap to begin with. After cleaning off her fur she quietly hopped into the muddy hole and looked carefully at Syn. "Hey, kid, you awake in there? Stay with me here." she said a bit concerned. She yanked out the dart and watched him curiously. He looked delirious and about to fall over unconscious, not a good thing.

“All the time, they taste like chicken,” said Syn, his voice taking on a sing-song quality. “Sometimes they taste like turkey, gives a bit of variation.” He didn’t budge an inch from where he was lying, the world still spinning in a big circle around him. It was quite unnerving.

But not as unnerving as when another dragon suddenly flashed onto the scene, creating havoc in her wake. He scrabbled away as a lump of carcass suddenly dropped into the pit, making a horrible noise as it hit its bottom. The movement tangled him even worse in the net, and he ended up half on his side, eyes wide as they settled on the new female that leapt down into the pit with him. He blinked rapidly, his eyes refusing to focus on the mist hound, then let his head flop back, not caring about how his coat was very rapidly getting completely covered in mud.
“Must have… you… chalk on your coat?” he mumbled, not really making sense and making the first part of his sentence accidentally sound pretty awkward- not that he had the sense to think of that. He focussed briefly on the new dragon, then gave up and let his eyelids slide closed again.

Noticing the net, she chewed through part of it and sat down by him. "There's no chalk on my fur, it's naturally white." she said a little bit slower than normal, noticing he was still going through Hades from that dart. She decided to simply watch over him until he woke up on his own. Gently she nudged his cheek. "Just sleep, you can talk all you like when you wake up." She disposed of the other half of the poacher in one bite before going back to her watch, careful to keep her tail off the ground. She had resolved that she wouldn't sleep until she was sure he was okay. Those darts that poachers use are actually made for large game, it was a long dizzy trip to get through the effects of the serum.

A light smile flickered onto Syn’s face as the mist hound nudged at his cheek, although he didn’t really know why. He did as he was told as well- a first!- falling into a doze. Strange animals frolicked across his field of view, just out of reach of his snapping jaws. He felt like a kit again, not being fast or able enough to catch the game the rest of his pack were always going after.

It was a particularly large piece of game that suddenly turned and charged him that woke him from his drug-endued sleep, the mud that had hardened around his muzzle cracking as he jerked his head upwards, his eyes opening blearily. As soon as he was awake though, a headache hit him like a sledgehammer and he thunked his head back onto the ground, groaning.
“Holy alpha, that hurts,” he mumbled under his breath, spitting out little clumps of mud. What the hell? His eyes ranged back and forth across the sea and then sky of mud, trying to work out what had happened. Humans, mud, fighting, more mud, a dart, yes he remembered that, then a helluva lot more mud and some very strange things. Were elephants involved? He wasn’t quite sure.

"I see you're finally awake." she noted cleaning her forelimbs. "That dart really had you acting loopy for a while. I'm glad you're awake though." She padded over and tried to help clean the mud from his face. "Are you still dizzy?" she asked, her voice a bit low. "When you feel you're able to move about on your own I'll help you out of this mud-hole. Till then I'd like to just make sure you're not hurt otherwise." She sat back a few feet and watched him curiously. "My name is Mirage. Do you have a name?" Her tail swished a bit as she cleaned a smudge out of her fur.
