Basically, i was thinking about making a Golem, and I wanted to use the idea of it having a control rod originally, this is a small, fragile rod that you can use, when it's in your possession to tell the Golem what to do, however there are the rules that the Golem must abide by these are as follows

  • The Golem in question may not be ordered free of it's control rod or ordered to destroy it's own control rod.
  • The Golem may not be ordered to do anything that would involve physically harming itself.
  • The Golem can only operate under the controller as long as they are holding the control rod or have come into contact with it in the last hour, then the Golem will move automatically to the control rod's location, wherever it may be and "deactivate" directly over it only to be reactivated when the control rod comes into possession of an organic being.
  • The Golem can be ordered to move within a 1 mile radius of it's control rod at any given moment
  • The Golem cannot directly be ordered to kill it's master or perform an action that would cause their death (for all those suicidal folk out there)
  • The Golem cannot be ordered to do mentally taxing things like solving a riddle or equation, it can repeat phrases or sentences but cannot elaborate past that.

Whilst the Golem has a personality, it is completely devoid of one when it is under the control of another being, and has to do whatever the person in command tels it to do as mentioned above whilst falling into those rules and abiding by them. It is possible to release the golem by fusing the control rod with his diamond core, or by destroying it, whilst one option means that noone may control the Golem ever again, the other means that if someone were to release the control rod, they would resume control of the Golem.
Basically it would be a thread designed to put a Golem into the game as i would like to include someone in his bio who is/was his controller and i think that it would be a fun oppertunity, i just need to know if anyone is interested and would like to play out the RP, please bear in mind that fighting for the control rod is also allowed, same as bartering, trading, using the Golem to fight off potential other wannabe owners, etc.
I also think that adding a new creature to the island of DC which was a person had their body destroyed and their soul attached to a diamond keystone which can assume a humanoid form using the materials around it at the time if it's previous body is destroyed, please note that it's body can be made from all forms of earth and not water, air etc. but anything from minerals, to rock, to lava and magma can be used and it can be ordered to cast off it's old form and get a new one if the owner wishes it so. I'd jus like to know if anyone is interested and willing to take part??? please reply back if so, and which character of yours may be interested, and I can throw out a starting point that everyone can go from an RP perspective, hope to hear back

If you don't mind my two cents, I've actually been thinking up some ideas for DC golems for a while. There were some stark differences but, if you want to make it as a side character, I already have a kind of plot forming for golem growth :L

The idea starts as this; Ages ago, in the early years of magic users in DC, golems were created as labour bearers, guardians against wild creatures, the works. These golems featured advanced intelligence and problem solving skills, and were capable of compassion and friendliness. This was thanks to an advanced catalyst, a special gem with intricate runes inscribed, detailing all of the skills and abilities that each individual golem may have. The knowledge to create these powerful cores was lost to the ages, presumably forever.

This is not to say golems are not utilized today. However, they are far simpler beings than they once were. Maybe there's a way to find the old techniques, though....

Control rods are an idea I've never been too fond of. That's not to say I'm against the idea, but it just seems a bit too simplistic.

As for your new race, I'm not too fond on that either. It seems a bit too, mm, overpowered? That's not really the right word for it. If you wanted, that sounds like a great idea for spirit creatures, but other than that :L

I think your idea is good and obviously I am new to DC but not to fantasy role playing at all XD. I just think it is wise that double takes are made and if the list is created we can have in depth discussions on each section, updating that list as we complete each section on it, so now it's more of a question of who wants to be involved with this???

A LIST OF THINGS TO CONSIDER

- What are golems made out of
- How are golems powered
- How intelligent are they
- What are they capable of doing
- How are they controlled
- How common is golem use
- Able to use tools or not

This is only my opinion based on past discussions

- What are golems made out of?
Stones, Minerals and Metal, randomised each time, i think that although DA sucks, i like how Shale looks as a Golem, especially the older ones whereas the newer ones may be cast and much more metallic but more simplistic
- How are golems powered?
Golems are powered by a Matrix, a bettery that has runes inscribed on it which explain how the Golem works and moves, This can have crystals insertedinto it which absorb magic and emit it slowly giving the golem energy to function
- How intelligent are they?
Golems are not made smart, that develop over time, until eventually they become almost completely sentient talking with emotions and other actions, such as habits and other things
- What are they capable of doing
Initially anything they are told to do, be it construction, transportation or demolition, they often have specific roles to fulfil, hence some may have picks instead of hands to smash rocks and extract ores while
- How are they controlled
they start as essentially, rocks you can order around, then they learn to do it without being told, then they learn that they can have fun doing it , like moving heavy boulders by doing trickshots XD, then they develop like that until they become effectively people
- How common is golem use
Golems used to be immensely popular on Dragons cove and were highly advanced with articulated hands and moving joints, they are less common now, wither hidden away or in museums and there are some golems being made in the modern age, however they do not do so well with articulated limbs or highly moveable limbs
- Able to use tools or not
Yes, quite simply, the ones with articulated hands can pick up and use tools, whereas the newer ones, well, wont
