Ari didn't know were she was, as she crawls out from under some pine branches. With a soundless sigh she begins to pick the leaves and sticks from her clothing and hair. Looking left and right she just starts walking through the woods and hopes she comes across someone who could point her in the right direction. Which ever one that would be. It seemed that silence followed her even her foot falls were hushed as her soft leather sandals land on the leaves.

He's not lost, per se. He knows where he should have been going and he knows where the river is. In fact, he's near to it, but somewhere along the lines, he's not sure which direction he was headed in. If he continues on the way he's walking, he'll find himself either back where he started, or at the city he was aiming for. Damn fifty fifty chances, and damn his inability to write or read properly as of yet. He could have taken a map or a guide with him... but even Andyr knows he never would have. A Man of the Ice Plains needing a map and a guide? Unthinkable. He's stalking along, making the least noise as possible when he sees her. How she got so close without him noticing he'll never know. He wonders if his coming to her will scare her. He is many times her size and weight and has two swords at his sides and an axe strapped to his broad back. Hell. He'll chance it. "Maiden, if I could have some time?" he asks. Damn the language. He still has yet to fully grasp it.

Ari looks up with startled blue eyes on the large man. A stray leaf still stuck in her long blonde hair like a feather. Don't be afraid you have trained larger creatures then this, she thinks to herself. She gives him a slight nod and hope he will proceed with his inquiry. She hoped he could understand her if it came to needing information. Maybe he could read? Letting her eyes take in more of him her hopes were dwindling. She spots the leaf and plucks it from her hair.

He watches as she plucks the leaf from her hair. She is very fair and he wonders if she's taken. Wildly, he considers taking her back the way he's come and claiming her. Of course, such thoughts are relegated to his overactive libido and underactive sex life. It'll pump up once he knows the language, or when he figures out to just hold up his arms and flex. He clears his throat, not to catch his attention but to garner his own. He was stuck in reveries. "Maiden, I've come a ways away from the River... and I am not sure if I'm near Harglen, or the Ever Bridge... or which direction either would be..." he said. Bulky, a little awkward, but altogether understandable, now if only his accent didn't mangle the words into submission.

Damn a man for actually asking directions. She shrugs her shoulders and shakes her head. She understood him easily enough even with the accent he had. She had heard worse back home. She rubs at her eye as the familiar burn of thinking of that place. Hoping that he understood what she was about to do. She points to her eye, and shakes her head. She then shrugs her shoulders while looking around her. I hope he understood what I meant and not thinking me crazy. She hated the curse that was put on her, some day she would get at the one who did it to her. And idea popped into her head maybe he could teach her how to fight!

He cocks his head and looks her up and down. Figures she'd be lost too. He smiles apologetically and beckons her. "Well, whether I get to the city or the bridge, I take you along, you are lost" he says. He's not very threatening, despite being as big as he is. Then again, if Andyr wanted to look threatening, he'd have grabbed her, thrown her over his shoulder and carried her down the river. "I am Andyr" he says and gestures for her to walk with him. He knows to follow the river, he's just not sure which way he's going, to the bridge or the city.

With a nod she follows. She didn't know were he was leading her and she hoped it wasn't to her own doom. But yet she felt at ease with him, like a large lion she had sung to. It was still wild but yet calm around her. She tries to keep up with him but with his larger size, she had to work harder to keep up. No seeing it she trips over a root and falls to the ground with a silent cry. She lays there for a moment to collect the breath that was knocked out of her from the fall. She looks up to Andyr.

Andyr turns and looks down at her. Well, if his theory that women were helpless and hapless was worth anything, the poor woman had inadvertently proved Andyr right, cementing his sexist ideals about where women belonged and what they could and could not do. He walks over to her and helps her up. "Step careful" he tells her and slows his gait. He shouldn't have been walking so fast in the first place. That's probably why the poor maid had tripped. "I apologize for my speed" he tells her but that's not exactly what he meant. He hopes she knows what he meant.

Placing her smaller hand in his she stands. Her hand slowly slides out of his and she dusts herself off. She inclines her head in acceptance to his apology. She wished she could talk to him, this life of silence was not very easy. Pulling out a pad of paper and a piece of coal she writes, It's ok, i'm Allaria. She gives him a smile as she shows it to him hoping maybe he could make out what she wrote. She hold it up to him as they walks and watches out of the corner of here eye for and raised root or object that could get in her way.

She was mute? Well that'd be ten times as difficult. Andyr picked up languages easily, but writing was always his downfall. He squinted as he read her words, the squiggles arranging themselves into comprehensible words. After too long a time scanning the page he nodded. "Allaria... I am sorry, but I am not very familiar with the written language" he said and handed her back her pad. "However, if you can write in simpler phrases, no contractions or colloquial spelling or anything of the sort, I'll be able to understand you better" he told her. He was not ashamed of his ignorance. Irritated yes, ashamed, no. He was, after all, learning a new language quite quickly, despite his difficulties.

Ari nod to show she understands and pats his arm in understanding. She was frustrated and annoyed in her own right for not being able to speak. Just because she wanted to protect the world. With her fingers she rubs away a part of the coal writting, and writes Ar. Showing it to him again she points to Allaria then make a hand motion to show something small or shortened then points to Ari. She hope he got it. Below the writing she draws what could be a map and puts a question mark in the center of it.

What a smart maid. She draws pictures instead of words to bridge the communication gap. He grins and nods. "I know that I am either going to get to a bridge, or back to a village, I do not really know which direction I am going. The canopy is too thick to see which way the sun is. I am also unfamiliar with this forest" he says as he leads her downriver. Had he been traveling upriver... or downriver when he first came in? Augh he doesn't know. "It is embarrassing for me to be lost, as I am a Wild Man, but... because I am a Wild Man, being lost will not be half as bad as you think" he says and gestures for her to follow.

Ari wishes she could be so sure of herself while she was lost. She points to him then mimes hunting and fighting then points to herself and makes a negating motion showing she could not do either. Without her voice she could not ask the animals for directions. She could heard the bird in the trees happily singing. It was a beautiful song of how they enjoyed to fly and live. They were simple creatures compared to some of the larger creatures. Looking at Andyr though she figures humans were to most complex of all thing living.

Andyr laughs. "Of course. Women are not hunters" he says. To Andyr, all a woman is is a gatherer. It is how he was raised, and not at all an opinion he developed because of some negative view on women, or inflated view of his own merits. "If it gets too dark to travel, I will build us a shelter after I find a suitable place for us to establish a sort of lair" he says as they plod along. "You are mute, yes?" he asks, wanting to confirm that /yes/ she has no voice.

Ari's jaw drops and she put her hands on her hips taking some offence to his statement. She knew many female warriors and she bet would give this wild man a run for his money. She shakes her finger at him as if scolding and with foot falls that should have made a sounds she stomps ahead of him. She still heard him when he talked about making a shelter and asking if she was mute but she was giving him the silent treatment for as long as she could stand it at lest.

Amused by her tantrum, he walks on ahead, unphased by her 'silent treatment'. How could a mute girl really give him an effective silent treatment? The forest gets darker and he assumes that the sun is setting. "Ari, it is getting dark. Do you want to continue? Or do you want to build a fire and shelter?" he asks. He doesn't care if she doesn't answer, because then they'll be traveling at his pace and they'll rest at his pace. From earlier, he knows that he'll wear her out.

She stops and looks at him and weighs her options. If they keep walking it will be till she falls flat on her face, or now and it may annoy him. She motions his onward she would rather possibly get someplace with a bed, then sleeping on the ground again. She pulls her coat closer to her as a chill runs up her back. Premonition? She hoped not, she wasn't like some of her family. But from time to time they found her. She winds her way around a large tree not looking back to see if he was following her or not, But with all the noise he was making behind her. She was pretty sure he was.

To his credit, the forest is eerily silent. Normally Andyr is good about skulking around not wanting to be found by wildlife. He follows her around the tree and catches up to her pretty easily. "If we go at my pace, you will collapse. It is better if I carry you. You can ride on my back or over my shoulder..." he tells her, not at all concerned that she might have a problem with being carried. But it would be beneficial to the both of them if he carried her. In fact, if he carries her, they could either make the bridge or town before next light.

Carried? Like a sack of vegetables or mount him like some horse? Though it did seem more appealing to her to be carried. She looks at him. Would he behave himself? She didn't know for sure but she didn't have many other options. With a nod she pat her back in hopes he wold understand that she would prefer to ride on his back instead of slung over his shoulders. At lest on his back was a bit more dignifying then the other option. She just hoped he would keep his hands to himself.

Of course he'd keep his hands to himself. If Andyr wasn't generally flirting, then he wasn't being a pervert. Raised in the Ice Plains, he'd been socialized much like a beast. He had definitive cycles of activity, if that could be believed. Although as a human being, he did have urges every now and then. However, to him, there was a time and place for tomfoolery, and that was usually not while one was lost, or traveling. Unless of course there was an obnoxious, buxom woman throwing her weight around. Then Andyr would show interest, and lots of it.

He squats down so she can clamber up onto his back, and once she's up there, he grabs a hold of her legs and keeps her hiked up, before setting off at his brisk pace.

Ari wraps her arms around his neck so as not to bounce around on his back. She did not need any of her rubbing one any of him. Now closer to him she could tell he had a particular smell to him. Being around animals he didn't smell as bad as many of them. As she held onto him she was glad his hands did not drift at all from there place on her legs. From her vantage point she could see farther ahead of them and any possible dangers they may encounter.

He keepswalking, despite the ensuing darkness and seemed not at all disturbed by his lack of visibility. He doesn't even slow his pace, walking on by the riverside. It isn't because Andyr was at all confident about his skills as a navigator. He just figured if he walked in one direction long enough, they'd be out of the forest. However, he was confident in his abilities as a warrior. If they are attacked, he would handle himself and then some. "You alright up there?" he asks her. If she falls asleep he'll probably have to lash her to his back, to prevent her from falling.

Ari pats his back to let him know she was fine. She holds onto him for a while long as they travel beside the river. Her eyes scan the darkness to see if there were any lights peeking through the trees. Not seeing anything she sighs silently. Stifling a big yawn she pat on his shoulder then pulls on them as if he were a horse to get him to slow down or stop. She listened to the babbling of the rivers water as she sat there., waiting for him to put her down.

He's slightly amused that she's treating him like a horse. He recognizes the desire to stop as she pulls on his shoulders and he squats after getting to a spot he feels like he can build on. He taps her legs, letting her know it's okay to slide down now. "I am going to get wood, some foliage, and I'll build a shelter for you" he says. He could build one big enough for the both of them, but it's a nice night and it doesn't feel like rain. Besides, without a shelter to dull his senses, he can remain on high alert.

Ari slides down his back and taps his shoulder to let him know she was off. She looks around where he stopped and begins to collect wood for a fire. She didn't know if he wanted to build one but she wanted to show she wasn't some weakling. She puts them in a pile in the middle of the area they were in then looked around for some large stones to circle them. Once done she offers to help him in any way she could or he would allow. She hoped he will let her help.
