Strange things have been happening!
- Artel has made her annual DC post here.
- The index sprites are now all there, with the exception of the (perhaps now redundant) mist hound.
- The DC blurb to the right hand side has been updated for the first time in perhaps a year.
- Dragon babies! I think we can all safely say with the amount of time that has passed, these dragons have certainly hatched by now:
Name: Probably none Dragon Breed: Card x Lifeblood Gender: Female Flying Ability: Yes Size: Small Sprite Creator: Aero (H*) Str: 3 Def: 2 Spd: 4 End: 2 Agi: 2 Arc: 5 Magic Type: Blood

3rd April, 2014
There have been a lot of updates recently, but I'll try and keep it brief.
- The rules have been updated, to clarify some vaguer points, and take out obsolete points.
- The Lore & Character Guide has had a lot of new articles added; some of the larger ones are Races, Defenders of Dragons' Cove, Maledictus Eice and Archanology.
- The forms for Dragon and Non-dragon characters have been updated; there is now a structured form that can be used (including formatting), or the older free-form sheet.
- Old documents such as the Map, Dragon Nest and Orphanage have had minor wording updates, and have been re-formatted to the new house style.
- Dead affiliates have been removed from the sidebar.
- Zay updated our blurb --->
- And finally, most excitingly, soon the whole of Dragons' Cove's history will be revealed to all members. The deeper workings of free magic, its origins, the Dragon Temples, Light/Dark magic and the origin of some races will be revealed in depth. Hopefully this will be published for the forum's birthday, on the 30th April. We have chosen to do this for a range of reasons, but mostly to enhance roleplaying on the forum, and reduce confusion in the long-run over some plot points.

Another Lifespan Edit Now no non dragon characters may exceed the age of 500 upon creation.
This limit may be crossed in plot roleplay, year by year.
This is for the purpose of keeping Dragons Cove lore consistent.
P.S Birthdates still apply. Also please double check your dragon characters are in accordance with the previous update below.

Lifespan adjustments and other Rule Updates The rules have received an update to condense them down
We no longer operate on a "4 lines rule" but rather expect 150 word count for each post, even speedplays. This is entirely manageable. People regularly posting below this count will be notified to step it up.
(This has been an unofficial rule in place for quite a while now that most of you will already be aware of)
All characters MUST have a birthdate before entering the plot, please update all your plot involved characters now to give them an appropriate birthday. This will help us with aging characters.
Remember, the "events log" on the plot loyalties board will provide all the info you need on the present time/events.
All dragons will now mimic a human life span, with death occuring around age 60 (as appropriate for a medieval era life)
HOWEVER, dragons are magical born creatures so aging can be unpredictable within this approximate life span, your character may turn from hatchling to full adult in a year, or take as long as 20 years. It's up to you entirely.
"True" immortal characters are not allowed. Please discuss character immortality with an admin if you are uncertain of one of yours.
All characters must be native to Dragons Cove unless they arrived with/as a part of the Surahnians.
Feel free to discuss these clarifications/changes with an admin if you feel something is amiss or simply not worthwhile.

The Man Banner!Aha, so you saw our spiffy new banner for Valentine's day, did you? Well, if you haven't heard about the Man Banner (yes, with capitals) yet, then you are either a) really new, or b) not frequenting the Chatbox enough.
The Man Banner is a collaboration between Rogue & Aero that's been waiting to be finished for ages, but then life got in the way. (Until the last week, when it's magically got shunted forwards to "high priority", which it is.) Lines by Aero, colouring by Rogue, and general awesomeness by the both of us!
If you don't know who they all are... from Left to Right: Leuan Cei Ellis, Kol Serenoa, Talos Estoen-Serenoa, Atleon of Mirrahl, Zartear Straten, Andyr Hildr, Jackdaww, Lutis Passal, Kagan Knirunkni
So enjoy it while it's around, pick your favourite, get some funny looks/questions if you log-on in a public place, and generally drool over Kagan's hawtness.
Icky mushy hearts and stuff,
~Rogue

Limitless DragonsYet another amendment to the dragon system, this one Rogue will appreciate after maxing her dragon limit.
Now, you can own unlimited amounts of dragons. HOWEVER. After your first 6, you will start paying an exponential amount for the extra slots.
Here's an example.
7th dragon: egg cost 7K
8th dragon: egg cost 8k
9th dragon: egg cost 10k
10th dragon: egg cost 13k
11th dragon: egg cost 17k
And so on, the gain increases in increments of 1,000.
Hopefully now this means you will always have a reason to earn your gold, you won't have to "dispose" of dragons to play different ones, and will not have to worry about waiting to get the perfect ones, because you can have a bit of everything if you like...You just have to be ready to pay the price.
Happy roleplaying!

January 8th 2012-------
Double the RandomThere has been a new option added for hatching; now you can choose instead of selecting a nest type and tier to go /entirely/ random.
This means...
The dice will be rolled to choose the nest
The dice will be rolled to choose the tier
The dice will be rolled to choose the dragon
The dice will be rolled to choose the gender.
And as a bonus for deciding not to snipe/spam nests for specific dragons, and with the risks involved of being completely random, you'll get a 1K gold deduction off the final cost.
To enter this nest you'll need at least 14K (though of course could end up paying less) any extra character slot fees if they apply. (When you're paying for a dragon that goes over the customary limit of 6)
On that note, congratulations to our first Dragon Veteran!
Rogue has reached the hard-limit of 8 dragons, and it's quite the impressive collection!
