Armeno whirled around, his blade making a whistle as it flew through the air and sank into another opponent. He shook his head vigorously, dislodging a few beads of blood and sweat, and then bared his teeth as he stepped forward to his next victim. They exchanged blows for a minute or so, and Armeno dispatched him with a short stab forwards into the leg. He looked up at the sea of fighting and rebels ahead. Squinting, he saw their leader next to a miserable-looking dragon which had a tall pole tied to its back. Attached to the pole was a man, who seemed to be yelling angrily at the leader. He frowned; who was that man? With a shrug, he continued onwards.

Rokam was sitting, perfectly still and humming slightly. In front of him, the battle raged. Beside him, Jaden was in an identical position. They were trying to put Atleon’s rescue a little more in Tegan and Lyrian’s favour. Suddenly, Jaden’s eyes flew open and he leapt to his feet, his white teeth bared.
‘We have to go now, and warn Talos,’ he snarled. ‘You need to react to things like this!’ Rokam’s dark eyes too slid open.
‘What?’ he asked, confused. ‘We’re doing an important job here!’ Jaden growled in disbelief.
‘You should never close your mind to the fates! Everything-everything- just changed!’ Rokam knocked down the mental barriers he had erected to try and prevent distraction as he attempted to twist fate, and information flooded in. He hissed in horror.
‘They can just march in?’ he confirmed. The older dragon nodded.
‘You should never have made such a basic mistake,’ he said quickly. ‘But we have no time for reprimanding you now. We need to get word to Talos!’ Rokam nodded, and they ran as fast as they could to where Talos yelled orders and occasionally shot arrows.
‘Talos,’ gasped Jaden, with no time for formalities. ‘The east gate is open, a woman and a man killed the guards. The rebels may already be heading inside; we only defended the main gate properly. If they get in, the battle is all but over, but it might be too late- the opening itself was too small a happening for us to predict it, but once it happened, everything changed. If things go as we have seen them, there is no hope for us.’ Rokam just nodded, taking huge breaths.

Zartear's mounted bodyguards and some of the few cavalry that the Surahnians had, had now branched off towards Racksom's southern wall. It was important not only to avoid the thick of the fray so as not to get killed by some inanely lucky peasant, but also to explore the weaknesses of Racksom's defences.

"Onward, stay out of the archers range, at this distance even a sure-bow becomes a little less certain." He spoke to his immediate followers, then hearing the Prince's words.
It made him smile again, but he did not reply, soon that prince would have the breath stolen from his lungs, for he was going to see pure slaughter.
As they rounded the corner point of Racksom's walls, it took Zartear a moment to fully take in what he was seeing.
No.
Surely not even Racksom lead by a foolish avian could show such a painfully gaping mistake, it had to be a trap.
They carried on, now much closer to the gate and within charging distance, all the while avoiding the attention of Racksom's archer and infantry militia, caught in the midst of the front gate battle.

He began to scope out the entrance and as the horses all came to a halt, the dragon shortly after, quietness amidst the screams of afar on the walls fell over them.
"Men. Don't fear this, it is no coincidence the gate is open...However...Do we have anything to fear of what the DDC can offer us in a "trap" No. We shall go, and remember, don't spare your sword from anybody but the most slavish of rats."

And so, Zartear and his section of cavalry galloped forward towards the gates, ready to spread like poison rushing through the city and so, stealing away all life in their wake.

Meanwhile, the main infantry force were by now just about coming up to the gates, they prepared their torches to light up the wooden doors that sealed off the people, their chants of war growing more intense, like an incantation of power.

Kevv Listened, waited. Her soft eyes sweeping the battlefield, feeling a few arrows bounce off hr strange bubble. She giggled a bit, hearing a cry of frustration. These beings had no idea what they were dealing with, nor how to even begin to deal with her. She heard no response really from the ones she had spoke to either... Her connection began to wither from them. ~I did warn you.~ She told the three simply. Growling a bit.... Her normally soft eyes hardened, becoming like shards of ice in their sockets. She lowered her hood. These heroes would see what was their sudden ally. Wisps of enery gathered around Kevv quickly, elements beginning to come forth, Kevv feeling them come to her, her call, her plea for their aid. They bolstered her, strengthened her, energy searing through her body and strongly. "You brought your own fate on vile ones." She said softly.

Kevv raised her staff, clouds began to gather over the battlefield, over the Surahnian side rather. Kevv kenw their numbers had to be weakened, their morale ahd to be withered. Kevv was good at such thigns too. Her robe swirled and blew about a bit, like a fierce wind was there, yet there was no such thing. Lightning began to strike down. It hit randomly, but well, it was a very dnagerous force on that side of the field all he same. Kevv had much more to do however and she kenw it. As the lightnibng struck, The ground shook. Rather a couple small fissures opened up... and water began to pour onto the field. However the water seemed to... stand? Yes, stand... Elemental Wraiths beginning to spawn at Kevvs' command. They stood humanoid, but were clearly made of water. They had glowing eyes... They didnt have much.. attack power to say. However the water shots they did could blow someone back pretty far, and could hurt of they hit right. Water could be a devastating force when it wished to be.

Kevv was not finished however. She lit brighter, A small wave descending from her over the Soldiers defending this city as well. "Be fierce, fight with your hearts and minds... It shall pay off, to know honor and heart." She said softly. The elements coarsed about, the magic strong and likely unheard of for these beings here. IT began to strengthen the Cove army members and things... Earth strengthening the Armor, Lightning strengthening Speed, Fire increasing Strength, Water increasing agility, Nature increasing healing... Light seemed to brpaden the mind, making quicker reaction time. Darkness increased Tenacity, willpower..... The morale in this battlefield was going to remain strong. Nature helped all sorts of healing done too. Kevv flicke her tail, her body alight with the energies she let roil through her ceaselessly now. She summoned something simple. A fireball.. which she casted forth quick. It sped toward noe being she could tell was ahuge threat here. Oh she wanted to toast Zartear alright. Her heart beat fast, her adrenaline rushed hard now. She hadnt fought in years, but she remembere dher many battles like ti was yeserday that they had taken place. This was not the way she had wanted t make a good union with those of Dragons' Cove. But if this was how it was going to be. Then so be it. Kevv kept careful watch on her own powers and energies. She might seem way stronger then any had ever seen in these worlds... but Kevv did have a limit she ahd to keep to of course. She was careful to follow such thigns as well, being worn out on a battlefield would spell her demise, considering right now she had no armor on herself, just her robe and her light clothing beneath... if she lost power her barriers would wane, and leave her well, open...

Lena notched another arrow as Talos came to her side, questioning the fresh wound on her arm. She grinned, "It'll leave a pretty mark, but I'll be fine. I don't get why the wench didn't aim for the kill, but I'm not complaining." She looked him over quickly and then seemed pleased. "Good to see you are well then." She shouted over the noise, Lena felt a twinge of comfort from her partner having her back. Her and Talos may be married but they were also a great fighting duo, one covering the back of the other. She locked back onto her target. The woman on the horse. Lena pulled back the string of her bow as hard as she could and aimed at her. "We can't have you running around..." Was all she said before she released her arrow in the direction of the girl. Lena fired off two more for good measure but couldn't check to see if they hit their expected target.

Two dragons came forward to Talos, looking rather upset but not malicious. Lena kept an eye behind her to make sure no more rogue arrows would come flying at her as she looked over the new dragons. Lena stood stunned for a moment, the freakin' gate was open?! And lovely, only two people took down the guards so Zartear couldn't just come marching in without even trying. Lena looked to Talos to see what it was he wanted to do. He was the leader after all and Lena would follow in what he chose to do.

Akira hissed in pain as the flames licked her flesh arm, red burns blossoming on her skin, and turned to her new opposition quickly. "Yup he really is pathetic isn't he?” now if you wanna call something confusing, it would be the completely honesty that showed in her eyes, a loyal invader, for a brief second. But she quickly masked it with a growl and took a defensive stance, before lunging at her with her twin diamond blades. “But I don’t have the freedom to choose who I follow.” she grunted as she sidestepped changing the direction of her attack quickly.

Mizu finished off the soldier that was on his blade before turning to the opposing dragon and letting out an ear splitting screech and spreading his wings menacingly. He readied his bladed tail lowering on his haunches and dropping into a quadrepedal stance letting out a jet of flame in response to Lyrians.

Kono stopped when he heard the shouts of the leader of the defenders mentioning the gate. He quickly turned and looked at what was happening. The men were swarming the gate. He spun swinging his tail into the crowd of soldiers knocking them away like flies before grabbing a few in his mouth and biting down until blood ran from his lips. He spat them out before taking to the air again to evaluate the situation from above. Something odd in the distance caught his eye. One of the side gates was swinging open. He hissed and lowered his altitude until he could see the leader. “The side gate has been opened, and it looks like from the inside. I’m going out there.” He quickly flew off without waiting for a response. He figured he could handle whatever could be happening over there, but he wasn’t so stupid as to approach without caution. As he neared the gate he saw a small group of people. He hissed and let out a screech. Landing on one of the nearby buildings threateningly, “LEAVE!!!” He shouted.

Tegan leapt off Lyrian's back, doing a front flip form the distance and landing nimbly on her feet, her swords held at the ready. Lyrian, more concered with Mizu increased her wing speed and shot the wipping razor air at the fire being blow at her in hopes of scattering it and blowing it out. She would then cap off the wind by wipping her own tail to send a chilling air at the blade dragon, and more flame from her own mouth. The Autumn dragon knew she didn't have as many ways to attack as this dragon did, but she was also fast, and honestly she didn't need to kill or wound, just get them away.

"Why?" Tegan asked as Akira lunged at her and then changed the direction of her attack. Tegan parried with one sword, her other wipping around to slice at the girl's side, or perhaps block another attack that might be cast onto her. "Why do you feel you have no choice in the matter of who you follow? No one can own your soul, you're free no matter what debt." The elf blinked, her hair wipping her face as she spun, one sword held up the other heading in for a jab at the girl. "Why not join us if you think him so pathetic. Why not help to kill him and free yourself from whatever burden you feel yourself to be under."

Lyrian caught sight of Static on the horseback and her eyes glared at the girl. She wasn't sure who was good and who was evil anymore, and she let out a growling roar of warning to the girl and also to frighten the horse away. Flapping her wings harder, Lyrian kept herself above the ground, and mostly out of the way of Mizu's bladed tail, or so she was trying to anyways.

PostSubject: Re: C1 Racksom~~~~And then, there was War~~~~(5th Board)   Sat Nov 13, 2010 3:44 pm

A gust of wind sent a cold shiver down Sandy’s spine, along with the murmuring of the leaves. She was sat, practically on the edge of a cliff overlooking the sea. It’s dark water barely seemed to move, people who had a lack of sight wouldn’t even notice it was there if it wasn’t for the soothing sound of waves crashing against the banks. It was black, unearthly-looking and sinister. Yet it seemed to calm her. She had her legs dangling off the edge and her arms behind her holding most of her weight. Her sword lay in its sheath, tidily across her hip. It seemed as if it was the calm before the storm. Only she knew the storm had already started.
A few clouds moved across the sky, in the direction of Racksom. The wind seemed to change direction rapidly, as if some force was controlling the weather. But Sandy didn’t even look up. Her vision was situated in front of her, looking over the water. Thinking.
A few moments later, a sound of flapping wings broke the silence behind her. Followed by a small transferring of weight as a dragon landed behind her. Sandy didn’t turn around, she barely even blinked.
“It’s never going to be the same, is it?” She asked, coolly. This night could change anything, it was going to change everything. There was nothing anyone could do about it. This very second, she knew two giant armies were already crashing into battle, sword against sword, arrow against bow.
The dragon behind her folded it’s wings and almost-silently padded up behind her.
“No.” The low voice echoed.
Sandy turned round and stood up to face the dragon. Her eyes met his, and there was an understanding silence for a few seconds. This was the dragon she rode, the one she was most likely going to die with in battle, but most of all, this was Silverwing, her friend. The Guardian dragon whom she respected more than anything.
“Are you ready?” Silverwing asked, his blue scales shining silver in the moonlight. Sandy nodded briefly. “But why have we waited so long?” She began. “We could have put a stop to this before anything more came from it. The battle has already started, we should have been there, right from the very start!”
Silverwing’s calm gaze didn’t falter as he spoke. He understood completely why she didn’t agree with everything he was doing, but she had to understand. ‘We could have been there.” His voice sounded. “But if we did, then would the people of Racksom have any dignity? They needed to find the strength within themselves to fight against this man. Yes, the Guardians are here for protection, but the people need to have a chance to realise what they want. Realise that even against defying odds, they still have the willpower to fight. To fight for what they believe in. The hope they generate within themselves is greater than anything those following Zartear could ever have. And what’s more, we can join them at the beginning. But when things start going badly, then what? They have shown that they will fight for freedom, for what they believe in. And now, us turning up after the battle has started will bring them more hope. It will bring them more strength, the strength they wouldn’t have known they had at the start. Only then can they show everyone what they can do. Let the people fight as one now, while they still have a chance. I don’t want to tear that away from them. We aren’t just for protection, but we are the people’s symbol. If we go now, we’ll do more good.”
Sandy’s hair moved as the wind began to pick up slightly. There was a few more seconds of silence, before she responded. “I see.” She said. Both of them turned their heads to the direction of where Racksom would be. “I can’t guarantee you’ll come back out of the battle. This could be the end, for both of us.”
She turned to look at him again. Her face straight. “I know. And I don’t care. I know that if I don’t fight, if I don’t help Dragons Cove now, then I won’t want to be alive anyway. Plus”-she half smiled-“I’m your rider, it’s our duty to help. Wherever you go, I go.” Silverwing returned her gaze, before lowering his body to the ground. Sandy nimbly climbed up onto his back. This might be the last time she ever did this, if she does end up riding to her death tonight. But if she was, then at least she would have died with cause. Saving the island she loved.
Seconds later, they took to the sky as one, flying off to battle.

It wasn’t long before the first sounds of battle filled their ears, and the large mass of fighting slowly developed into recognisable creatures as they dropped lower in the air. Sandy noticed there was a lot of chaos happening about one gate, that looked poorly guarded by the people of Racksom. Then a sight met her eyes for the first time. A dark-haired man upon horseback. She felt Silverwing growl, and she respectably placed her hand against his neck. This was Zartear.
She had never met this man before, nevertheless seen him. But she knew of what he could do. She knew how he and he had almost died, and almost brought down two Guardians down with him. She wanted nothing more to stick her sword through his chest. But she couldn’t tear the pleasure away from her dragon. He had more reason to hate him than she did.
Silverwing lowered in the sky and let out a bellowing roar that echoed across the battlefield. Sandy didn’t even look to see how many people looked up on their arrival, but instead, she fixed her eyes on the enemy’s leader. “There.” She said quickly, as Silverwing came back around in the sky. She pointed behind the place where Zartear’s group was advancing. Maybe they could cut him off from his army for a few moments-or at least try. A few moments that could be of great value.
Silverwing opened his mouth and let out a blaze of roaring, blue-silver flames across a line of men advancing with their leader. Now was not the time to attack the man himself, that time would come later. Now they had to give the people of Racksom as much chance they could get of penetrating the opposed forces themselves.

Cato felt it a little whisp of someting int he back of his mind. But more so did he feel the dragon's blood sturring in his veins. There wher the wisp was the dragon within him began to form, as a deep growl echoed thorugh his mind. It was a warning that whomever was trying to probe his mind. SOme of his archers ran out of arrows he asigned them to become retreavers. He could tell they where afraid but he knew they knew that if they didn't do it they would be in a world of hurt if they didn't. Cato was not a forgiving leader if they did not follow his orders.

Argento dances back and forth behind the line of archers. Cato so used to sitting ontop the large black war horse and shooting. He shifts in the saddle in time to the horses gait as his eyes scan the battlements for more targets. He spotted a girl taking out three of the infantry men as they advanced up the wall. Pulling two arrows from his quiver he pulls the string back. Evening out his breating as the flatcihng tickles his cheek and chin from the duel arrows. One the exhale he lets the arrows fly, the string twanging as he slowly lowers his bow to his lap and watches the arrows.

Watching the ebb and flow of the combat he looks to his out stretched line of archers. "Flame arrows at the ready!" HIs order ripples down the lines as small fires are lit, at an odd interval for the arrows to be lit. Each archer took one step forward making their angle change so the arrows would land within the city walls and as he hoped catch the buildings on fire.

Faust pulled out of the dive and with long beats of his wings he rockets back into the air. High above the cloud cover he watches the carnage below. The wind seemed to shift he could feel the magic int he air as he sees elementals of sorts appear inthe skies. It wasn't as if the skies wheren't crouded enough with dragon and their riders. Faust notices the southern gate being conveniently opened by ones who had been within the walls of the city.

The news was just getting worse, wasn't it? Talos muttered darkly under his breath after hearing the reports of the Card dragons, throwing in a few swears just for good measure. Of course the other three gates had been another weak point, but he had been counting on Zartear concentrating his forces on the largest gate. Perhaps the worst news of all was the fact that on top of it all, they appeared to have been sabotaged from within. He wished with every fiber of his being that he could find the two that had killed the guardsmen at the gates and strangle them himself, but idle wishing wasn't going to get the problem solved.

Then out of nowhere a soft voice was whispering in the back of his head. At first, he thought that maybe it was Lyrian again, but this voice was different. It was powerful and carried that power with it. He felt lighter, stronger and quicker as the voice continued to speak, and for whatever reason, he began to hope. Maybe this whole endeavor wasn't going to be as impossible as he first thought it was? Looking out over the battlefield, he noticed that some sort of otherworldly creatures were attacking the enemies and just hoped that whatever form of being they were wouldn't decide to attack his men as well.

A blurred object caught his attention, something moving rapidly toward Lena and without conscious thought he dove for the woman, pushing her to the ground quickly. The hiss of arrows buzzed over his head and a brief twinging pain radiated from his left wing. Looking up, he was startled to see a couple of feathers missing from his wing, the arrow that was culprit lying on the other side of the wall with his now detached feathers. Daring a quick peek over the side of the wall, he eyed the archer line. "These archers really have it out for you tonight." He commented bitterly to Lena, moving off of her, careful to keep his head below the protective stone of the wall. Around them men were dying, screaming as they fell, but it was happening less and less. The strange power he felt coursing through his body seemed to be affecting everyone else as well, making them stronger and faster, able to fight back against the invading horde more effectively.

Then the Guardian Dragon came.

Cheers erupted from the defender's side at the sight of the dragon as it came flying toward them, and Talos gladly lent his voice to the noise. "Defenders of Dragons Cove!" He shouted, standing and nocking an arrow, aiming for the archers on horseback and letting fly, grabbing another as quickly as he let the first go. "The Guardians are here! Rally your spirits! With them, we can win!" He would never know if anyone but those in the immediate vicinity had actually heard him or not, for he was too concentrated on what he was doing now. With more speed than he had ever known he possessed, he launched the remaining six arrows in his quiver at the mounted archers and those that surrounded them, hoping to hit either man or horse. Either way, it would be a score in his book.

Once his quiver was empty, he ducked behind the wall and looked to Lena. "So my darling wife, are you ready to take up your sword and go head hunting with me?" A devilish grin was on his face as he shouldered his bow, pulling his dirk and long knife from their sheathes.

*~*~*

Deos watched with a faint amount of amusement as the riders steadily approached the now open gates. Once they were close enough, she headed back inside and climbed the wall to the ramparts where Vann was keeping watch over things. As the approaching force came storming in through the gate, she simply waved to any that looked, a smile on her face. "Well, that was incredibly easy, now to-" Whatever it was she had planned to voice next died in her throat, an earth-rattling roar echoed toward them, and she spun quickly to see the source. It was the huge purple dragon from before, apparently having descended into the fray to take care of things now. The building that it had landed on creaked and groaned under the weight, and some of the horses of the invaders shied away from the beast, a couple even rearing and throwing their riders in the process.

Snorting with disgust, she swept the field with her eyes, spotting a few more fights that had broken out within the city itself. A new dragon was was fighting that brown and red one with the elf rider she had seen before flitting about the city, the newcomers appearing to have wreaked some devastation on the rear guard before being confronted by the defending dragon. An unnatural thunder echoed out over the battlefield at the front gates and lightning was sweeping through the invading forces, as well as some sort of creatures that looked like they were made entirely of water. What in the blazes sort of magic was that? But no, the bad news wasn't ending there. Another roar sounded over the entirety of Racksom then, this one more powerful than anything the purple Spine dragon could produce, and all eyes were on the sky.

A flash of silver descended from on high, and a very distinctive dragon came into view, looking and sounding very impressive as it flew toward the battle. "A Guardian Dragon?" Vann breathed, his fingers tightening noticeably on the grip of his sword. "Then all the old legends are true. There really is a stone of power in that tower." Both he and Deos looked toward the spiraling structure that loomed over Racksom. "They'll not give up now, not now that one of those legendary Guardian Dragons are on their side."

Deos sighed, rubbing her temples and began walking briskly along the wall, her eyes always searching for something, anything that could tip the scales in their favor once more. Zartear's army had numbers, but the Defenders were suddenly doing a very good job at perking up their morale and recruiting unexpected allies. Something needed to be done.

That's when Deos spotted it, whatever it was. The creature looked half human, half dragon, cloaked in a robe and was very obviously the one causing the unnatural storm and water creatures that were swarming the field. "Right, we get rid of that first." She said to Vann, pointing to the creature and heading toward it. He was at her side instantly, sword drawn and ready for the attack. Side by side, the two swung their swords toward the strange creature, Deos from left to right in a downstroke and Vann from right to left in an uppercut motion.

Lena had just getting over the two dragons that had been talking to Talos when out of no where the man up and tackled her to the ground. She didn't have much time to refute what Talos had done as she heard the whizzing of arrows flying by them. She didn't fight as his body lay over hers in protection until he commented, rather sourly that that archers were after her and got up. "What can I say...I've become rather popular...with people who want to shoot me." A sarcastic grin found its way to her face.

Her grin was soon gone as she saw a silvery dragon come to the field and heard Talos mention that the 'Guardians' were here. So they really did exist. Anyone who had lived in Dragons Cove for any amount of time knew about the legendary Guardian Dragons and their powers to protect the land...but never had she expected to see one in her lifetime. It was an odd feeling, but one Lena wouldn't complain about.

And as soon as Talos was done boosting the moral of the people around them, he had given her the offer to go head hunting with him. The same devilish grin worked its way to her own face as she drew her short sword. "Oh...One moment." Lena faced the wall once more and let fly the remaining arrows she had in her quiver. She aimed for the annoying wench on the horse, thinking her attack had try to do her in this time, unaware of Cato and his own attacks. "Alright, lets see who can win the count this time, eh?" Lena grinned as she suddenly made a dive for the ground; she knew Talos would be right behind her.

Blood sprayed in a wide arch as Lena cut the jugular of the first man she came across, and in a sweeping motion turned to stab another through the heart. She quickly reunited with Talos to keep eye on his back as they fought their way through the crowd.

Argento bucks causing Cato to lay as flat as e can against the horses back so as not to be unseated. He heard the horse give out a pain filled cry and began to limp. Sliding off the horse he pulls two arrows from thoe horses shoulder. Looking at the colors int he fletching he sticks them in the quivers. He felts a sting of pain on his back as he moved. Running a hand down the side of his back his came away with blood. Now seeing red from not only his injury but the injury on his horse Cato stuffs all the remaining arrow in a quiver and straps it to his back. He looks at Soifra then at the line of archers who continue to let fly the flaming arrows.

Cato pulls the twin swords from the saddle sheaths and slides them in the sheaths at his back. He calls out to the line leaders and tells them to keep up the vollies until either arrows run out or the defendeds have gained to much ground. He knew they would not fail him as he steps away from Argento. "Go find a healer." The horse nods and trots off. Cato pulls his long white hair back into a braid as he looks for a riderless horse. Spotting a wanderin mare he picks up her reins and swings into the saddle. Pulling the horse around he rides into the thick of the battle. His goal was to get into the city.

Fuast glides close to the Guardian and its rider. "About time you two showed up." His feather shine in the starlight as he looks down at the battle below. "They might have a chance now that your here." Which ment Faust could pull back and watch the battle. He didn't think his help would be needed any longer. Now remose is felt at him steping away and watching, it was the way things where for him and his kind.

Armeno frowned, looking around. He wanted to help more; try to take out somebody more important than the random fighters he had defeated so far. He spotted a human who he thought was the bowmaster of the rebels charging into the midst of the fight, and, lifting his sword, wheeled Veloxpes towards the pale-haired archer. He was already bleeding in the back, and while he could probably beat Armeno in an archery comeptition, Armeno suspected that the human's swordfighting skills would be below those of the elf. He thrust Levitas forwards with a slight twist to the side, intending to disable the human's left arm. He had acknowledged the roar of the guardian dragon with only a quick glance and a nod skyward, intent as he was on his goal.

Jaden and Rokam exchanged glances, then tensed as they heard loud wingbeats. They dashed outside, paws skidding on pools of blood occasionally as they skirted the fighting, and tipped their heads skyward. The massive silvery blue dragon roared, and the earth shook as the noise reverbrated throughout the battlefield. Rokam and Jaden bowed their heads to the guardian dragon, and the section of twisting, rainbow-coloured space between and around them for about a metre-where they could twist fate with ease, any further was extremely difficult, as they had proved during this battle- shimmered and writhed as they bared their teeth. They weren't the best fighters, but they had great motivation from the arrival of the guardian. They split, going their seperate ways and using their teeth and small but sharp claws as ther weapons.

"Fly dragonback?" Kagan asked, smiling. He ran and jumped up on the dragon's back, then clambered his way to a comfortable position, wiggling to be sure. "I barely know horseback!" Kagan could actually feel the noise now, and he smiled impishly until he saw what everyone else was looking at. Kagan nearly fell off, which would be embarrasing because they weren't even in the air, at the sight of that mighty dragon. It's not like all dragons aren't awe-inspiring, but something about this one just radiated power and grace. But that old impish smile found it's way to Kagan's face, as he thought greedy thoughts. I wonder how much that thing's scales are worth...

Kagan patted the dragon's flank and bounced exitedly. "C'mon then, go! Fly and engrave our names in th'marble o' history!" And make me rich in the process. Kagan added silently, smiling. When all this is over, he could finally stop working and spend the rest of his life smoking, if all went well.

Rilos shuffled in surprise as the goblin leapt on his back, unused to the sensation. He flared his wings wide, preparing to launch into the air.
“Well, you better hold on tight then, ‘cause I’m not slowing down for some two-leg!” He looked around at the goblin, a toothy grin wide across his face, before looking up into the sky and beating his wings down hard. They shot into the air like a rocket, Rilos roaring in delight. They sped nearly vertically up, then he levelled out when he reached a high altitude, the battling humans small brawling specks below.

“Y’all okay? You did want to fly…” He looked over his shoulder to see if the goblin was still on his back. “I’ve never flown with a rider before...You’re the very first!” He banked sideways slightly, turning the tips of his wings, floating in the air. “Look!” He cried, turning his head. “Guardian dragon!”

Rilos’ heart lifted with hope, an extra dragon on their side- and a Guardian too- made the odds ever better. Dipping slightly, he prepared to dive over the enemy forces, but then spotted extra movement- Was a gate to the city open?

Static urged Tamarisk into a sharp trot, forging her way through the foot soldiers in front of her. The new dragon that had flown in roared in her direction, and Tamarisk reared into the air again, frightened by the much larger dragon. Bearing her teeth, Static drew her sword, holding high into the air and pointing it at the dragon. She charged at the hovering beast, leaping her stallion over the corpses of the humans that had been slain by the dragon and rider pair that had arrived first. It was time to join the fight!

Kevv gave a gentle giggle, flicking her tail and turning a bit too observe the other parts of thie battle all over the place. She knew her spell was taking good hold, the Covians were performing very well against the sheer numbers of the Surahnians it seemed. She was surprised that so far she had met very little resistance. Aside from an arrow or two, though her Projectile barrier had stopped those cold. She felt more arriving even, these other dragons seemed a bit.. stronger then most there. Kevv let her buffing spell run to the newcoming heroes and bolster them, no Covian defender left without her buff. She made sure a few more elementals rose too, to wreak havoc behind the enemy lines. The new elementas however were made of wind. They looked like human-sized tornadoes, with eyes at their center, and arms like twisters sprouting off of them. These one were a bit more viciosu then the Water soldiers, they would charge at someoen and toss them. They couldnt turn too fast though, unfortunately.

Kevv was a bit startled though. One presence felt... familiar to her in all honesty. She couldn't quite grasp where she had met the one ebfore..... She felt Sandy and her dragon in truth. Where had she encountered ehr, where?! It was baffling. Had it been in a past encounter, before ehr last resurrection and passing? It was possible and she knew it. Or was it jsut sometime she forgot....? It wa shard to tell. Kevv was not about to dwell on such petty things right now. twisting the Earth at the open gate of the city suddenly, it twisted up, grabbing some enemy soldiers and holding them fast. It like being stuck in stone for them up to their necks. "Those with ill intent will pay here." She growled softly. A ball of what seemed darkness streaked from her suddenly. Well adding another shot to Zartear again, knowing her Fireball wouldnt be enough for him more then likely. She was going to keep pressure on him. Kevv knew combat and with her reach with magic and powers she could strike many at a very safe distance. Thus, she was going to do so.

Although Kevvs' streak of not having to defend herself ended realy quickly. She felt the two inds seeming honed on her before she saw who they belonged to. "About time." She said simply. She seemed to become a wisp of smoke quickly, as the blades passed a hairs' breadth from her body. Appearing a small distance behind Vann she purred a bit. Her giggling, sounding like a most innocent female as she did. "Did I make somenoe a bit cranky hmm?" she asked gently, seeming almost amused. Kevv typcally kept a very amused attitude in combat, it was baffling.. she could be gored open and missing limbs and she was still going to giggle about something. When it got serious though, they would know. She hoped to not have to unleash that however, knowing she might do mroe damage then she wanted to do to the surroundings. She kept her Projectile Barrier up, figuring she could dodge most swordplay for the moment. She didnt need an arrow triking her while doing close combat with two others. Although two others would be way more intersting then just one, in her opinion. Kev would be a bit careful for now though. ot needing to overexert... she wasgoing to have to watch her warping around and she knew it. With upholding the buff on all the Covian defenders, and the elemental soldiers too, plus now having to toil with these two... it was going to spread her magics a bit wide. She would ahve to try to warp herself little as possible she spposed... but try to use closer magic tactic, rather then distant casts. She knew her disadvantage ehre. Kevv as wearing no actual armor... yet. Only her robe and a skirt and light shirt beneath... she couldnt be hit by the swords or it was going to hurt a good bit. There wouldnt be enough time to heal herself either...

With a wild grin, Talos launched himself over the edge of the wall, dropping fast after Lena. Just before striking the ground, he flared his wings to break his fall and immediately lashed out at the nearest soldier, his long knife rebounding against armor and the dirk finding purchase in the chink of a man's armor at his elbow. As the man flinched away from the sudden pain, Talos was on the man, slicing into his jugular, then was at Lena's back, covering her flanks. They had fought like this many times before, back to back against crews of angry pirates that wanted the two avians dead. This wasn't so different really. They were still trusting in each other with their lives, but the opponents were different.

These were no sea-legged half-drunk pirates. They were sobered, trained and armored men that had a real plan. Down here in the trenches, fighting with his fellows against impossible odds on ground that was being stained red with blood, he should have been scared, horrified, even. But that same strange power that he had felt before was reassuring him, making him braver and more daring than he ever should have been under normal circumstances. Again and again he moved forward, always on the attack, covering for Lena when she would have fallen otherwise, and relying on her to do the same. Hot blood splattered his face, and he felt the bite of a weapon once, but the sting was gone quickly, another product of the strange magic that was over all of the Defenders.

*~*~*

His sword should have connected, should have bit into flesh and drawn blood. Vann hardly ever missed his target once it had been selected, but this... thing had evaded both his and Deos's swings almost flippantly. The creature didn't just avoid them by retreating or swinging around that staff around in a parry. No, no, it simply vanished right before his eyes in a swirl of smoke. Fighter's instinct had him turning in an instant. He used his body's own momentum to come around from the high left swing to a downward strike from the sky to the ground, pivoting on his left foot as he did so. Expecting more trickery, he pressed his attack forward, switching his grip into a back-swinging upper cut from low right to high left and advancing on left foot. He slid his right foot forward, bringing his sword down and around in a horizontal slice and brought his hands low down by his left hip. Vann thrust his sword straight out powerfully with an advancing right foot, aiming for the scaled woman's stomach as the prize.

Vann was first and foremost a swordsman, and though usually he operated under the control of the Voices when attacking another, it didn't mean that he needed their help. In fact, most of the time, they needed his skills more than what their shallow fighting knowledge pool could offer. As a general rule, once he set his eyes on a target, he didn't stop until the enemy was dead or otherwise disabled. Whatever or whoever this... creature, she would meet the same determination as any other enemy he had ever encountered.

Deos watched the easy flow of Vann's movements as he struck repeatedly at the woman-thing, her shimmering bubble shield taking the brunt of his swordplay. Her mind was racing, taking in everything that she had seen. This creature wielded magic that she had never seen before, and was using it to great effect. Two dangerous globes of magic were on their way to Zartear already, and the creatures that the dragon-woman had unleashed on the field were wreaking havoc every second. They wouldn't be able to kill her. She had no experience dealing with magical creatures, and Vann only a limited amount of dealing with mages. But, all things had a limited energy supply. Supporting all of those water and twister creatures as well as deflecting any stray arrow that came her way had to be eating at her magic resources. Perhaps between the two of them, they could wear her down enough to drop the barrier, or else get rid of the magical creatures on the field. It was a gamble, but she was willing to take it.

With a flourish, Deos was at Vann's side once more, her own sword covering him while his body was extended in the thrust toward the dragon-woman. She did not wield the same power that Vann had, but she could move quicker than him, her thin sword swinging with deadly grace in a flurry of stabs toward the dragon-woman, aiming for her heart, her limbs, her stomach... anything to nick or wound the creature and force it backward along the narrow wall.

Right then, literally just right then. It seemed the solid ground of victory liquefied, and a flight of new enemies had appeared. The water creatures, the spine dragon ordering his army to leave and then of course...The guardian dragon. Silverwing.
Even though suddenly anybody would have a right to feel less certain of their position, and as horsemen were hurtled from their bucking horses, others melted within their armour from the blast of flame.
Zartear felt a new surge of determination, all along this time he had been following an old crones myths, a wise-man's wisdom and the paths of ancient power to find this isle. But now he felt certain, the power was within reach in that tower just there; the huge and sudden turnout of dragons now confirmed this, the guardian dragon most of all.
The cheers of his foes all became a haze, one filthy vision...Soon those cheers would be mourning wails.
"Take to the streets and do not stop for the dragons!" His plan was as such that his mounted soldiers being on horseback, could ride through the thin winding streets without much hassle from some of the larger dragons to fit down the passageways. The dragons may have been the main threat in this invasion, but there was nothing like a little genocide to dampen the enemy's spirits.

For now though he realised, he himself could not continue on a rampage with them while they "got to work."
Apparently the draconian army had just turned up on his doorstep looking for a fight with him, dragons, dragons...dragons. Good grief.
Zartear may have been a slayer, a proud killer of these creatures but first and foremost; he was not a fool. To fight this kind of a battle would be to have a death wish.
All the more backed up by the glittery surge of energy in the shape of two orbs, flying straight toward him.

Taking no time to hesitate he pulled a silvery hollowed out bone from the side of his horse, and as he urged it to gallop onward, to make it through the gates with the rest of the cavalry (that were alive) the lines of men on the battlefield were slacking now, they needed to regain their infamous reputation of lion-like morale.
All he could see at the moment was his men working at a shadow of what he knew they could; perhaps it was the new strange foes, or was it the spontaneous lightning that erupted from the sky? The Surahnians were a tough race, and not about to be snuffed by a thundercloud or two, and yet they were distracted by the creatures appearing from nowhere, this simply wouldn't do. Zartear had an ambition to chase and at the moment, they were performing like drunks.

While on his charge he now blew the horn loud and clear, it's call loud and resounding with a low deep note...
"Men back to your positions! Give these bastards a million reasons to fear! Make for the gates lest you find your grave!" He called flickers of his voice catching onto the instrument and gliding over the field, the calls of affirmation on his command meeting back with him (from what he could hear through the fighting, at at least.)

Holding his sword at the ready, eyes watching every movement that stirred in the sky around him; they were painfully close now about to make the charge into the city.

Even so, some help would have been appreciated whether he liked to think it or not, if anything to keep the incessant attacks from the dragons away from his back.

Kevvs' eyes lit in almost amusement, seeing the swordsman turn on her so quickly. A little impressed she would admit. He was quick on his feet. For a human anyway. Though it took alot more then some speed and swordplay to defeat ehr kind. Her holdnig up much magic, she was sure more else then most any would even consider to do on a battlefield. She was nowhere enar spent in magic either. She was bein careful though with some moves. Teleporting mainly... for the friction of air when she moved her matter with such a spell actually heated her body up. Doing it too many times too fast would actually hurt her body. Making a dimensional fissure would take up too much time to do in battle. so teleporting for the moment was out of the question. However, Kevv had other methods. MANY other methods. Some human who thought his balls were bigger then anything else to come aqnd strike at someone doing so much at once and nowhere enar fainting yet or tiring.... was in for a harsh awakening. Kevv was not going to underestimate him though. Kevv still was learning the potential of others on this planet, she knew they might surprise her. Though a plan was in her mind.

Kevv parried away the two, dancing almost it seemed. In combat she had a grace to her many lacked, swinging their swords like they wanted to just cleave who was before them. No, combat was done much better with a calm ind and instincts for most. for most... she knew one being who, if let out, would swing with a far bit of just directness. although he even knew where to swing and how. Kevv casted, a ave of cold seeming to travel from her feet. Rather both males' feet were encased in ice. although the ice was rapidly beginning to splinter. But she had the time she needed. Her hands sparked quickly, Rather surrounding Deos in light. Morphing his body quickly.... Rather he bcame a turtle. Yes, a turtle. It was by no means a permanent change however. but it would pacify all his attacking for a good while and she knew it. Kevv didnt fight with just brute force. Control was her best technique. Her staff stronger then any sword trul, she feared no blade was unparryable by her. Desptie her beign a caster she was good on her feet, her reaction time ahead of even the most well-toned warrior typically.

Kevv reacted some more, rather this time coming at Vann. not going to remain defensive forever. "Will you be so strong without your friend able to disract?" she asked softly, her eyes narrowing a bit. Seeming to get a bit more serious then before. Well she had to be careful when attacking and she knew it. She was awesome at defending typically, but when coming in for a strike at close range a caster had to be very careful. Her hits werent light either, she had arm strength for sure. Plenty of it. Leg strength too. But Kevv lacked Armor, and she knew that could prove slightly dangerous, even when fighting a human. Some noise distracte dher ears, she felt that horrible leader seeming to chare her way too. Se knew this might get a little messy. But well that as going to be all the more exciting was it not? Her barrier keeping the arrows at bay, but well swords she still had to dodge and duck and parry and avoid.....

A small smile creased Siofra’s lips as she saw her arrow hit her target right where she had wanted to. Of course, it was not a killing shot, but since she had aimed exactly for the pain she had caused now, she was pleased. When she saw the winged one who had responded to Zartear earlier hurrying over to the girl’s side, her smile grew wider. Looks like I’ve really made a good choice in this one, she thought, almost disappointed when the girl did not immediately return fire. While Cato readied the archers to put the flamed arrows to use, which should create a little bit chaos on the other side of the walls, she began to scan the masses for another target. She was bored actually. It was not the kind of battle she liked, two armies crashing against each other, fighting over a city that will be destroyed and only belong to nature in the end as it would be lying in ruins, yet here she was. She saw no use in wasting her arrows like the others did by simply shooting them towards the opposing army and just trying to pick some of the wall. Alas, she was not in charge and there was a reason for that, too.

As lightning was striking through the rebels, the half-elf looked up and around her own side to figure out where this was coming from. It was then that she saw a weird cloaked figured at the edge of the army, waving a staff through the air. What the heck is that being doing over there and why has it not caught my eye earlier? Siofra grew angrier by the second as she watched the figure inside a golden bubble wreck havoc on the side of the Surahnian Rebels. She let two arrows off onto her new target, but both of them seemed to be repelled by the shield surrounding the cloaked being. A wave of anger surged through her but it was of no use trying to shoot more arrows in that direction, she was only wasting them. Magic was hard to interrupt, and relatively rarely a simple projectile such as her arrows would be able to cause any real damage to such a being, especially if it was such a powerful spellcaster. However, that thing needed taken care of! Siofra knew though that she was in no position to challenge a being of such a kind, but she was fairly certain others were.

Grumbling, she decided that it was high time to change positions now. Zartear had just broken into the city as seemingly one of the gates had been open… ? How that had happened, the half-elf did not know, but she was surprised that the defenders would make such a crucial mistake. She would go in nevertheless to see what was happening. There finally was work to be done now, actual work, not random shooting. Every idiot could do that, but she was not going to dwell on that much longer. It was exactly at that moment the avian girl decided to return the favour by shooting an arrow at Siofra. It was her own luck that she had turned her horse around to move, otherwise the arrow might have hit her hard. As it were, the arrow grazed her cheek, but even though it was only a scratch, albeit a deep one, it was burning like hell. Fire dancing in her eyes, she looked back towards the avian but she had already moved away. “Just you wait,” Siofra grumbled, “I will get my revenge for that one.” With that, she turned her horse around completely and made her way towards the gates of the city of Racksom.

And then the Guardian showed up. Cursing, Siofra reined in her stallion, who had grown tense amidst all the battle cries and the scent of blood and war spread out everywhere. This was no good. This really was no good. The defenders had too many powerful allies and it was all going to fall to pieces if Zartear was not going to come up with some fantastic plan soon. “Let’s go, pretty boy!” Urging Shetan to gallop towards the gates, she saw from the corners of her eyes how that weird creature was being engaged into battle, so hopefully it would be halted in casting so many devastating spells but she had no time to spare, she was already within the city now.

The skies were now becoming very much more alive as more dragons took to the air. This was bad news, not just for them, but for all riders really. For most, the sky was the one way to escape from fights that weren’t going very well. Now if you took to the air, you would be faced with more force than you would have hoped for. Sandy’s grip tightened on one of Silverwing’s spikes. She nodded slowly at the peacock’s comment of finally turning up. They had reason for being this late, but it was no excuse for him to now go and sit out. The battle was between everyone.
She shook her head. Now was not the time to disagree with allies, no matter what their method of fighting was. She didn’t even know if her dragon had even acknowledged the flying bird beside them. But then again, she understood why. His gaze would be fixed on something else. Something he wanted to rip to shreds and burn the pieces.
Both of their attentions’ were stolen suddenly as an odd-looking woman on horseback rode towards them. The horse jumping every now and again over the dead corpses. It was then that Sandy realised how far into hostile territory they actually were. Now they were finally a part of the war.

Quickly, she unsheathed her sword from it’s casing and held it in her right hand. “Don’t stop.” She muttered, before swinging her left leg over Silverwing’s back and leaping off.
Because of the height and momentum, she jumped over the advancing horse and landed a few metres behind. As soon as her feet touched the floor, people were on her.
Her sword clashed with others and she nimbly avoided blows and cut her way forwards. Sandy turned around just in time to stop a high-blow from a man striking her shoulder. The split second when their swords collided, she thrust her foot into his stomach and sent him coiling backwards.
Meanwhile, Silverwing sped through the air, his wings outstretched and directing him in a straight line. There were very few defenders of the city here, if any at all. Yet still he fly directly above the enemy. Sensing a short change in the wind as lightening struck, he lowered his body towards the ground until he was roughly three metres above the floor. He opened his mouth and let out a long blast of burning, silvery flames. The flow continued as he glided. Enemies shrieking as they were burnt, some even tried to dodge out of the way, but they weren’t quick enough. It was a risky move since he was so low to ground level, so he soon withdrew the blaze and flapped his great wings. A few fells off their horses from the wind his wings caused as he rose up into the air.
Almost as soon as he was a safe-ish distance away from the ground, he lowered his left side and span around in the air. He opened his mouth once more, and released a ball of energy, about one metre in diameter. The ghastly blue ball came down in a diagonal from the sky as if nothing was going to stop it.

It’s path was heading directly to where an eighteen year-old girl was fighting. Swiftly, Sandy lifted her sword to the sky just as the ball was above her head. It seemed to attach itself to her sword, without toughing as it. And as she span around in a circle, her arms, it followed her sword. Seconds if not milli-second later, she had done a full circle and the ball detached itself from her and aimed directly for the person who at charged at her on the horse.
Silverwing flapped his great wings as he changed his direction. He didn’t watch to see if energy ball he produced had hit it’s target, for he trusted Sandy to aid his power. Instead, he now headed back into the thick of the fighting and towards a large gate, of which Zartear’s army had breached what seemed too easily.

Half way through a swing that would have decapitated the scaly monster, Vann found himself suddenly off balance and would have fallen straight on his face if his feet weren't solidly stuck to the stone. Looking down, he cursed and struggled against the ice encasing his feet, the thin sheet cracking as it came loose. What he wouldn't give for a spell deflection charm right about now...

At his side, something metallic clattered to the ground and he turned his gaze quickly toward the noise. He half expected Deos to be doubled over in pain with an arrow sticking out of her side, or otherwise dead, but no, that was not the case. The woman's fine sword rolled across the ground, stopping when the intricate hilt piece ran up against the fabric of Deos' discarded dress. In the place where the woman had been standing not moments before there now sat a very large turtle with its head and legs all tucked in the protective shell. Eyes flashing back up to the scaled woman, Vann kicked off the last of the ice encasing his feet and stepped away from the slippery spot on the stone, his sword point-down, but body tensed for action.

"Friend?" He echoed with a raised brow, a ghost of a sarcastic smile lifting a corner of his lip. "You are generous to refer to her as such." Without preamble, he lifted his sword quickly and stabbed forward to his right in a feint, then swung down vertically, sliding forward on his right foot as he did so and pressing his advance again. His motion carried his sword out to the side and with both hands he brought the sword back up in a backhanded slice that would have cut a less wary opponent in half. With his sword posed for another strike, he advanced once on his left foot, a dangerous light glowing in his eyes. "I always fight by myself creature." His blade flashed out perfectly horizontal, took a quick step forward with his right foot and swung for the woman's staff, aiming near her hold on the long stick to jar it from her grasp or else take her hand off. If he could get that away from her, she would be all but defenseless against him. "But never am I alone."

Even as he said he, Vann could feel the Voices awakening within him. They were not malicious yet, simply rising from their slumber at the increased motion of their host that indicated a battle was at hand. Like children gawking at a new wonder, they examined this strange new being that their host was battling, reaching out to touch and prod and poke with an almost morbid curiosity. With their reemergence, they supplied their host with their energy enough to keep up with the strange creature, pooling what knowledge they had of battle into him for his use. The Voices didn't like men as a rule, but they liked their Host, he was fairly useful, after all, and they would help him to the best of their ability in this battle.

Kevv flicked her tail, smelling the sheer hostility and rage in the air. Feeling more eyes seeming to turn to her, wanting to quell her efforts. That young lass she had spoken to by mind earlier was coming..... Zartear was coming too.... Although why would they go into the city? They were going to get mauled in those narrow streets with nowhere to run. Especially with someone like her in this fray. Although for the moment she didnt bother them at all. No, she would wait until they got where she knew her advantage would be best at. Of course until she felt she had to make such a move she was ging to reckon with this human, who seemed determined to bring her down. She liked that she would admit, a steel-hard determination, ready to dominate all in the way... it was quite stirring almost. Although Kevv disregarded that.

Kevv raised a soft eyebrow at the humans' words. Never alone? Kevv knew that could only really mean a couple things. Although if it was anything... Kevv kenw she would find out very soon. Her body slid away from him extremely quick, leaving a small illusion of herself there for an instant. Kevvs' eyes narrowed however, feeling minds at her own. Although they met a very solid all. Kevv had dealt with spirits ebfore, and the undead. She did not fear them. She acknowledged them though. She knew this was getting a bit dangerous now... with spirits trying to disrupt her and feed their host things about her. Giving him energy... Kevv could feel it. This just made it all the more interesting. Maybe she would switch form after all. Although not yet, she had plenty of options left before wanting to show this human a true rage. The spirits would find out very little of who she was or what she did simply. For well, she protected such things within her more ironclad then the typical...anyone did. Kevv could NOT Afford for her magics and secrets to ever be learned, the devastation it could cause.

Kevv frowned, swirling her staff a bit. Moving her fingers and parrying his blows, not neeidn ghim hacking off her hand. It would take a while to grow back. Though she gave a giggle finally. "Never alone? That must really suck in the restroom." She said softly. Her staff glowing suddenly, rather it suddenly radiating with a sheer cold chill. Every hit now was going to chill him and deeply. Even parries would really, the cold would travel through his weapon. Thus KEvv swung at his feet first, moreso seeking to just make him fall, then actually kill him. Kevv did not like to kill if it was preventable... she hated bloodhsed more then anything. But this time it was all necessary. Thus she would put up with it. She would be sick later thinking about it all though, blood made her a bitqueasy when she wasnt rushing with adrenaline. If she could just make him fall and freeze him awhile, she could focus on bigger matters. Like the ones rushing into the streets. something had to be done. Her body glowed again, channeling as she fought Vann rather. The street itself rattled and cracked, then broke. Rather stone beings standing suddenly.... Earthen Golems. They stomped toward the oncoming enemy with a fierce gaze, made to do only one thing: Crush them. She hoped theyd be effective, until some Covian defenders got in there at least.

Cato rides hard into the fight the mare cries out as Armeno's blade botes into the mare's flesh."That was stupid thing to do." Cato shows pointed canine teeth as he kicks the mare onward. The dragon's blood was flowing hot in his veins at the throught of combat. It may have been a while since he had faught with a sword but he gave many a run for his money. Before the war he was a dragon slayer, so the use of bow and sword where a needed skill to have. But in the back of his mind he knew he needed to get to Zartear's side. His attention did not waver as he hear Zartear's rally call for his soldier to grow a pair and press on. The mare was foaming at the mouth by the time he road recklessly through the battle to try and get to his lord's side. It was no easy task with everyone with in sword and bow range targeting him.

Fuast clicked his beak at being ignored. He wheels in the air and heads for the tower in the middle of the city. Resting on the top of the tower he watches the battle. With a sigh he spots Zartear and has a thought. Leaping off the tower he glides down towards the Surahnia leader. With a cloud of dust he lands ahead of Zartear and settles his wings to his sides. He regards the cause of so much choas and death. Light from some fires from Zartear's bowmaster cause the blue and purple to show more in his feathers as he stands there.

When the Voices met a wall, the became even more curious than before. They did not often meet others with the ability to shut down their minds to outside forces, especially not so thoroughly. Even their host possessed little to no power to restrain the flow of things in and out of his mind, and it fell solely to them to protect him from those that would control his body by possessing his head. They already had purchase in Vann's mind, and were relentless when it came to protecting their host body mentally. It made the man's mind easier to defend since there were so many of them, of course. Some volatile disembodied and very angry spirits of vengeful women made excellent guard dogs. And now, they had a challenge before them. They wanted to know what this strange entity was, and they were starting to become relentless in their pursuit of the creatures mind. At first they could glean nothing, simply tapping against the most basic of mental barriers, then they threw themselves at her defenses. They clawed and tore at her defenses, seizing hold of any little hole or scratch in the nearly flawless barrier that kept them from their prey.

Vann was almost completely unaware of the mental battle going on around him now, concentrating solely on trying to land a blow on the dragon woman or else get her staff away from her. Trying to fight against this creature was like a dream, and not the pleasant floaty kind. He felt his eyes being fooled, for what other explanation was there to what he was seeing? He would catch a part of the creature's body with the tip of his sword and yet she would not bleed. What's more, he didn't feel the connection as his sword slid through her flesh and clothes like air. Somewhere from the vast network of connecting minds of the Voices a single thought floated to the surface. She is creating an illusion of herself so that you will not strike the actual body. Narrowing his eyes, Vann thought to see if this trickery was true and pressed his advantage again. The scaled woman had switched her style now, though still mainly defensive, she tried an attack every once and a while if it was convenient or an opening presented itself. He pondered her words for a second, caught slightly off-guard by her strange word usage. "Why would it "suck" in a resting room? They are quiet when I am sleeping." And what did it even mean, 'to suck'? This creature was strange indeed, but not just in appearance.

The temperature around the strange woman suddenly plummeted, and before he could prepare himself to have his feet encased in ice again, she was swinging down at his legs with that staff of hers again. He leapt over the staff as it arched for his feet, but couldn't quite get out of the way in time. The staff caught the inside of Vann's right boot as it came around, instantly freezing the leather and light metal. When he landed, it was in a half crouch, sword still held aloft with his right hand, left foot and hand on the ground and right foot out behind him. The cold was bitter, almost painful, and he was going to make a point of avoiding it from now on. But, he had a golden opportunity now. With her staff swung out to the side, Vann had a clear shot at her midriff and took it, getting his partially numb right foot under him and springing forward from below, driving the point of his sword directly toward the scaly woman's center. Lets see her try and dodge this. He thought with a bitter smile.

Kevv was very aware of the spirits wanting entry to her mind. Although she was not too worried about some spirits typically. But they were going to tell their host everything they found and she knew it. She could NOT Let that happen. For someone to know such thigns about her.... about her magics and how she controlled them, her exapnse of energy and her Upbringing and actual life... no, that would be devastating to be known by anyone right now. No one was getting in her mind, not at all. she wasnt trying at his, not seeing a need to. Though these spirits were getting a little too aggressive. It seemed Kevv was going to need to act. She growled a bit, her mind barrier suddenly blasting outward. Rather a Holy force bursting out in a wave at the vile spirits.... Kevv knew th weakness of Spirits and the dead. The Light energy was going to burn them hard. "Your friends seem a bit too curious." She said to Vann simply. Kevv was not going to tolerate ehr mind being poked at for long, that was a way to get her serious pretty quick. The mind, to her, was a sactuary, not to be delved into and probed and looked at by anyone. Your thoughts were your own, no others should have them. His spirits would not last too long if they continued this..... She would bathe them in Light and decimate them.

Kevv kept defensive, her style typically defensive. Well the best offense to her, was a balanced Defense, and the ability to strike in an opening. Other forms of her were highly aggressive, if someone was beign defensive themselves and she knew she had to press the advantage quickly. But she bursted into laughter onc ehearing him. Oh that was amusing and hugely... ho had he mistook what se said that much? "I woulda thought youd know full well what I spoke of and how... a restroom is a bathroom." She said simply. How ahd he not known that? She didnt dwell on this humans' lack of slang though. Simply making er hit to him finally.

However ehr eyes widened a bit. Knowing she had left a bit tooopen, just long enough... she should have swung for the shoulder, not the leg dammit! She pulled to the right, knowing this was going to hurt, no matter how she loked at it. But he wasnt going to hit vital organs. Feeling his blade connect to her side a bit, missing her organs by a few millimeters perhaps. She snarled though, that not the ebst feeling in the world. "You got me, but ive got you." She growled, her eyes bazing with light. Rather her hand reached a bit, the palm pointing at his side. Then she let loose a blast that seemed a swirl of both Black and White energy. Light and Darkness both at once.. hitting him with a blast of Chaos why not? She knew she was still good to go, she had been hit far worse before. But she would ehal herself up soon as she could.... hoping this would buy time....
