The Dragons' Cove highschool was like none other. The people that went there... well, they were a bit weird. If you were sensible, you didn't associate with those sorts of people who lived in the big boarding school at the end of the long driveway through the forest from the city of Racksom. You never knew what they were going to do. One moment they seemed normal, and the next... floating. Or invisible. Or talking to you in your mind.

Lutis was one of those that went to the boarding school; although the seventeen year old looked shifty even from just a glance. He was lucky enough not to be one of those unfortunates that were blue or had scales or constantly floated around but, he still made people back away from him when he used his telekinesis to get something. It was just much easier to do it that way than actually going to get whatever he wanted.
And it meant he could get things he otherwise wouldn't have gotten his hands on, which was a big perk of his power. The teachers had tried to bash out his kleptomania from him, but he just couldn't help it- if he saw something he wanted, he just had to have it.
They hadn't kicked him out though. It was another boring morning at the highschool, the first bell ready to ring for class soon, outside, boring- sunny, pretty standard, nothing much to speak of there- the hallways busy, the sound of sleepy students filling the corridors and the smell of a greasy breakfast coming from the mess hall.

Bloody school should've burned up ages ago by Silence's estimate. With a disdainful look around the halls it was apparent that the girl was there against her will, specifically by law enforcement who didn't want her setting fire to the penitentiary. Around her she noticed a familiar mug or two in the early morning sluggishness, but didn't bother with niceties. She never did, really. Just wandered the halls fidgeting with a lighter or a book of matches until she got to her class or skipped. The normal thing was for her to skip and hide out near the bleachers to torch textbooks. Though of course if the brass was watching she would behave and sit through whatever lesson she had. If ever she had a pastime it was tripping the fire alarm to get out of having class, or setting a teacher's pants on fire. The latter was always humorous, but some spoilsport would grab the fire extinguisher before long and ruin the fun. Such was life in the delinquency department.

Soneya was new to the boarding school this year and she hadn’t made many friends yet. She vaguely knew the ones in her class but that was about it. She wasn’t particularly interested either. They all seemed so... weird. No matter how you looked at it, they all had a little something extra going and it wasn’t always a walk in the park to have to be in the same room as them.

Then of course, Soneya herself wasn’t the most normal person around either but that was an entirely different matter. Crossing the hallway as quickly as possible to get to the classroom, Soneya spied two of her classmates, both of which she wanted to avoid. Firefreak and the thief, nah, not her world. At all. But the others were just as weird. Soneya sighed, slipped in the door of the classroom and took up a seat near the window.

Staying outside of the classroom for as long as possible, so he didn't look like one of those keen-beans that got there early, Lutis didn't see anything walk past that he wanted for breakfast in the hands of anyone. So he had to resign himself to just going after the thing he wanted inside the classroom instead. Soneya was always a fun target to mess with.
Wandering inside too, he saw she'd gone over to one side, keeping away from the middle and the gaggles of silly girls that always decided to sit right in the middle. And mostly throw paper airplanes at one another all class, but he didn't much mind that. It was a bit of a doddle anyway, the teacher a mess. Too many crazy students seen through this hellhole, probably.

He flicked his fingers in the air as he approached her, whisking away her homework from the desktop. Oops, he had neglected to do his. Well, there were better things to do.
"Soneya, Soneya. An' how is my lovely girl today? Studious as ever."

It was just her luck that she shared a class with a klepto and some mega shy goody-two-shoes. "Aww and here I thought you'd gotten away from flirting with the innocent ones. You must be getting soft there Lutey." Under most circumstances Silence didn't like thieves at the best of times, but Lutis was the rare exception. She'd made it known to the entire school not to cross her, yet this little sneak-thief pushed her buttons anyway. A guy with a spine and a mean sense of humor was tough to find! "Next thing you know you'll lose your spine and spout crap poetry over the intercom system." Along with a handful of other labels like biker, pyro, and juvie wannabe, the raven haired beauty was a class A mean girl. Scaring new kids, locker tampering, the whole nine yards. "Think the teach'll show today after having his wig torched and his wallet stolen?"

She’d wanted her peace and quiet. Did the jerk have to come over to talk to her? Really? Could he not just stick his nose elsewhere? And did he really have to bring the firefreak along with him? Honestly, what was up with today? It seemed to not bode well for the rest of the day if the first class already started like this and she had to deal with a bunch of people she couldn’t stand and who seemed intent on ‘making conversation’ with her. Just bugger off....

And... “You asshole!” she growled as her homework suddenly flew away from her. She ignored the pyro though while dealing with the thief. With a flick of her own fingers, she pulled water from the tab in the corner, sending it underneath his feet to make him slip. It would drench her own paper but whatever. Better it got drenched than in his hands. “Go piss up a tree.”

Against her own will however, she had to smile at Silence’s comment. The teacher had had a bad time before today, but she’d had to admit that it all had been really funny. Surprising herself, she commented: “If it failed to keep him away, there’s always water to be used in our favour, too.”

Lutis snorted through his nose at Silence's words. "Please. Soneya's far from innocent, even if she do smile sweet at teacher. I know your game, missy." He looked down at the piece of homework in his hand, checking to make sure it actually was homework and not something incriminating Soneya had put out for him in this occurance. He grinned widely up at her when she exclaimed, walking backwards towards his own desk.
"My middle name. Ta darlin', I owe ya one." Mischief managed and all that. He was feeling quite pleased with himself already when she started to cause mischief herself, and right in a moment... crash, onto the floor. New homework ruined! He grimaced at the pain in his elbows from landing hard, then looked up at Soneya with dislike before starting to laugh.
"You're a right cow sometimes. Pyro here's ten times the better gal in the room," he grumbled as he picked himself up again, slapping down the dripping sheet onto Soneya's desk. No use in that now, was there? "Should have torched his ass too."

"Ooh, so the little goody-two-shoes has a mean streak after all! Restores my faith in humanity." she remarked with a sarcastic eye roll. "Up ya get Lutis, you'll get no sympathy in the broom closet from me with that kind of flattery. If the teach even shows up today I'll be sure to do some torching." As for the water manipulating brainiac, nah she wouldn't bother with anything in first period, best leave her to the snobby girls that always gathered in the middle of the room. "Good luck turning in that drenched rag; I'd say it's FUBAR now and your grade will be too." Not like she ever bothered with her own homework, that she'd tell anyone. Any work she did was turned in discreetly and done for the sake of not getting sent to juvie, or prison. "If he ain't here in five I'm off to the bleachers. Either of you gonna join me?"

“Like I’d go anywhere with you,” Soneya muttered under her breath, probably outside of anyone else’s hearing. She couldn’t be bothered. Silence was just the stupidest and most arrogant girl she’d met in a long time. Just because she had to keep up her image of being an almost-prison brat. Ah but what did she care. If the pyro thought it was necessary to ruin her life, well that was her problem.

Lutis might be just as annoying but at least he wasn’t being a completely ridiculous bum about it. She kept the grin that almost crept onto her face at his floor kissing to herself, not wanting to draw more attention to herself.

Good thing too that the teacher walked in just that minute and shooed them all to their places. Well the others, as Soneya had remained in her seat this whole time. Shifting her sheet to the other side of the table, away from the eyes of the others, she placed a hand over it and gently pulled the water out again, putting a lot of effort into not smearing the ink while doing so. A slow trickle of water dripped off her table as she neared the end of this task, but at least her homework was salvaged. She would have to remember to bring fakes for Lutis next time, so he wouldn't touch her real homework and then even hand in utter rubbish.

"Bite me, Pyro." Rolling his eyes at the girl's stupid quips, Lutis rubbed one hand idly over his elbows and grimaced at the wetness all over him. Disgusting, and it was only the start of the day too. Damn Soneya, she had gotten him good this morning. Next time, next time. For now though, he didn't let it get him down, grinning madly at Soneya as he was warrant to doing even when bested.

He swaggered off to his own desk as the teacher came in like some flapping bird, slumping down into his chair and rustling around for pens. He had a few somewhere, they just... weren't always quite where he remembered putting them. No homework of course, but he could make it up another night. He wasn't horrifically bad at doing it, just sometimes got a bit distracted with more important things to do and ran out of time before class.
The poor man banged his chalk eraser on the board to garner attention as they all continued chattering, until things because too irritating and he yelled to make them quiet.
"Right. Good. Good morning. Today we are learning about the Guardians, and their great work on the isle..."
Lutis groaned and bent to hit his head on the desk in front of him. How many times did they have to go over and over and over this...

'What a snorefest. . .Same lesson five days straight! If only I could get a note to Lutis we could start something. . .' It wasn't taking too long for the rest of the class to start getting loud again at least. 'I can't stay sitting here much longer either or I'll fall asleep.' While the teacher was preoccupied with writing on the board she glanced up at the sprinklers and pulled out a lighter. "Hope you're ready for a fire drill, old man." she muttered sending a small jet of flame to the ceiling and setting off the alarm, and the sprinklers. Ah well it wasn't like she'd stay drenched all day, and at least they could miss the rest of the stupid lecture about the Guardians this way. She thought she saw the ceiling start smoking, but that was unlikely. The building itself wasn't too flammable so it would just be an 'evacuate, find the 'source', head back in' kind of deal. Hopefully.

Guardians.. yet again. It was an interesting topic for sure but even the most interesting topic became boring if it was being taught too many days in a row and then it still needed to be studied too since there would certainly be a test on it sooner or later. No good.

Just as Soneya was about to drift off to try and keep her mind otherwise occupied, the sprinklers suddenly came on. Struggling to get the water out of her way, Soneya failed at keeping up a shield and thus soon ended up as drenched as Lutis, which had definitely not been her intent.

Grunting with displeasure, she shot Silence a glare. Did that cow have to mess with everyone? She wanted to get on the teachers nerves, well now she was getting on everyone’s nerves. All around students were squealing and complaining, already getting up and rushing out into the hallway. At least they all knew what to do in case of an emergency, though of course this was in no way an emergency.

The teacher seemed to think the same but he had to follow protocol nonetheless. “Up, up everyone! Everyone outside! Stay calm and proceed out into the hallway as quickly as possible, then head outside. Meet at the gathering point.”

Not paying any attention at all really, Lutis decided that first class of the day was a great time to have a nap, and quickly set about trying to imagine the hard wooden top his face rested on was actually his pillow. It was starting to work when of course, Silence couldn't sit still and not make trouble for them all- or keep him dry. He was starting to feel his elbows again too. He gave a horrified yell as the rest of him suddenly was drenched from the sprinklers, diving first under his desk as he lifted it above him as protection, glaring in Silence's direction.

Honestly, could he not just have been left to sleep!?
Grumbling at the gross drips of water running down his back, cold as anything, he let his desk drop down to the floor again as he scrambled after everyone else piling out of the door, happy enough now to follow their teacher's lead as they all trooped outside. They left a wet trail behind them, and Lutis was in a less than good mood as he folded his arms over his chest and stood moodily to one side, wishing he was back in bed.

Fortunately, Ixas had not been there to get himself wet from the sprinklers. No, he had been meditating too long upon his past and all the emotionality that came to him everyday. Everyday he sought to control the shadows that worked within his mind, to try and see the light of the Willow Mama and Spear Papa, but he'd just keep remembering things.
Oh the horror, nobody would ever understand. Nobody could possibly understand him! He was Surahnian, and he was gods be damned special by that birthright alone! His hair was the colour of coal, dark like the souls of evil and despairing people, his skin was white...like the sexual curriculum vitae of virgins, and doves one might find on a tasteful wedding cake.

"I knew it."
He said, knowing it. He knew what nobody else knew, as usual, and he thanked the spirits for saving him from arriving to class three minutes too soon and risking his fabulous hair being drenched; he was worth it. "Calm yourselves." He spoke quietly, brooding like the particularly angsty teen he was, his piercing, penetrating, shiver-inducing icy eyes seeing through all the people and judging them like the whores they were.
"We will have our lesson...but not yet...let the teacher guide us to the safety of the grounds outside." Ixas nodded sagely.

"Oh can it string bean! Who died and made you the Arch Mage?" Currently steaming herself dry, she didn't see what the big deal was, it was just water! Now in a rather pissy mood, she was more twitchy than ever with her lighter and tried to find something to burn. "Besides that little stunt got us out of that boring Guardian lecture didn't it? Last thing we need is more brain melting lesson material." Most of it was: it was just a repeat of lessons past there was rarely anything new. "I think you need to market whatever it is you're smoking; 'cause you sound like you're so high you can't see the ground." Silence wouldn't put it past the guy, truthfully. He was always meditating and doing other crap that made no blinking sense. "Religious fanatics grind my gears man." she muttered. "You really gonna sit through that lecture, emo kid?"

Outside, the mood wasn’t going any better and Soneya stayed away, at least as much as possible, from the others in her class. The nutty bunch had been joined by Ixas, some crazy emo kid who seemed to think shadows were trying to take him over. It was completely ridiculous and she didn’t believe any of the crap he sprouted, even less so because he seemed to really believe in it all. What a weirdo...

But at least with him around Silence was occupied and could pain someone else with her presence. Now if only she could manage to slip away somehow... But that wasn’t going to happen. The teacher had his eyes everywhere. Funnily enough, easy as it was to pull pranks, he could always see where everyone of them was while they were under his supervision. Part of his powers most likely. Not that she had ever bothered investigating what exactly his skills were.

Lack of anything else to do other than wait for the teacher to usher them back in, Soneya played with the water a little, and slowly managed to push it down from top to bottom so that slowly, it all leaked onto the ground, leaving her mostly dry. Water always left traces, but at least she wasn’t dripping anymore. Such a shame that Silence had found a way to get herself dry and that Ixas hadn’t gotten wet at all. As for Lutis... well... she briefly glanced over at the boy. Tough luck for him.
