Plot: Great pillars known as protection stones surrounds a large city. People go about their business of tending to crops, raising their children, or practicing their craft. The pillars, formally called 'Verndun' by the elder council who maintains the great structures. They protect the town from all sorts of dangers, bad omens, and demons. But as of late, one of the six pillars had obtained a large crack in it. The danger of it could be exponential. On top of that chaos, two of the towns main clans are at war with one another over who was at fault for the crack and blame is being thrown around everywhere. Will the crack expand and leave the town vulnerable? Will the war between clans escalated to a full out slaughtering or will they work out their differences to protect their town?

Setting: Spring, 1600s (example: Meiji Era Japan. But this really could take place anywhere or a made up land. Doesn't matter.)

Dorloan’s head was pounding. He hated being in the city so much. There were so many people it was difficult for him to quiet all of their thoughts at once. He hadn’t ever heard this much mind chatter, he figured it had to do with all this pillar nonsense. What he didn’t understand was why Master insisted that they come to the city. According to Master they were here so that Dorloan could learn the art of using magic during battle, but why couldn’t Master teach him this, granted he was an old man, but he was extremely talented. Dorloan knew has complaining was futile though. After they had been in town for a month Dorloan had “joined” one of the two major clans in the town. A week later he began his classes, but Dorloan hadn’t learned anything. Being a new recruit the clan teachers had automatically assumed Dorloan had no idea how to offensively use his magic. Thus in every class he was always at the top besting all his classmates, and even angering some. It wasn’t long after he had joined the clan that Dorloan was told about the other clan in the city. According to the higher ups in the clan the crack in the defense pillar was completely the other clans fault, this peaked Dorloan’s interest. The clans were on the verge of war, and oh how Dorloan loved battle. So Dorloan went on with is classes, occasionally being sneaky and listening in on the clan leaders meetings.

Gokren carefully moved in his seat, it was a fine day in their city, but only to those looking in from the outside. He drew a steady breath, he was a member of the Elder Council; the council that looked over the entire city and tried to maintain the peace. All final decisions were made by them and anything pertaining the Verdun. He looked down at his shaky and wrinkled hands. When did the life drain from these once strong hands? He asked himself. Bah, he couldn’t sit and think on how old he was now; there were more important things such as the clan wars happening throughout the city. The worst of them being with the two largest protection squadrons in the city. One clan blamed the other for the current rift in one of the Verdun and constantly berated one another for not protecting the town adequately. The protectors were now slaughtering one another and who knows how many demons might be running lose in their town? How many criminals those looked human but were completely different. Those were the most frightening; looking human but killing like a monster. Gokren stood from his position atop one of the many building in the city and made his way back inside. The cool spring air was a bit too chilly for his achy bones.

~*~*~*~
Razern sighed, slightly bored as he sat outside the large chambers of their clans home. It was bordered with a new fence so he couldn’t watch the outside world go by as usual. Guards stood at every corner. Why did the stupid clan have to go and make such a fuss? What couldn’t they just own up to breaking the pillar so they could all go on with their lives. This senseless fighting was stupid, but he couldn’t very well let down his clan by not fighting. He was a hand to hand combat fighter and it was well needed when a good portion of the clan were magic users. Razern was not, and would never dabble in the art of magic. It was far too complicated and the rules of wielding such a art were extensive and potentially fatal if not abide to. Naw, it just wasn’t his thing.

Razern was a man of twenty two years old with short stocks of blonde hair that stood from his head. He had soft brown eyes and a muscular build. He wielded a long pike with a sharp point at the end of the blade. From the side of the blade it jutted a crescent shaped blade that added to extra tare, if you get the picture. He wore simple black pants, a white under coat and a black overcoat with gold trim down the sides. He wasn’t comfortable with the get up, but if that’s what his clan had to wear so be it. Razern had a huge sense of loyalty and would never betray his clan, which is why he would march into battle again the other clan without question. They were the clan of Chaos Guards after all.

"Razern, you know you shouldn't be sitting out side like this with out a coat." A soft voice came from behind him and he was met with what he could only guess was angry eyes. He stiffeled a laugh, this woman couldn't be mad at anyone or thing even if her life depended on it. She was a relatively short woman, but with natural beauty. Her flawless skin gave testament to her large dark blue eyes and her face was framed raven black hair that was gently pulled back into a loose ponytail. “Cephor, I don’t know why you worry so much…” He grinned at her and only got a frown in response. He then sighed, “Don’t give me that face…” He said before standing and walking back into the interior of the house. Cephor was like a sister to the whole clan and no one really could resist her pout. He grinned at the thought.

((I am SO sorry for the terrible clan name. XD Haha, but please, feel free to make your own clan name so we can stop calling them clans. Also, if you wish to be a member on the Elder council, please feel free to make someone old and wise to join. ^.~ ))

Dorloan was starting to like being in the Peacekeepers. Recently the clan leaders had been sending him and some of the other higher ranked students to deal with the recent outbreaks of demons in the city. With the crack in the Verdun demons had been running rampant in the city. The death toll was really adding up too. It had only been 2 weeks since the demons had started showing up and already 14 people had been killed, and many others injured. Today had started out a normal day; Dorloan had gone through his classes with ease. Dorloan was in his room studying when he heard someone running down the hall. “Hey what are you running for,” he asked, “haven’t you heard there’s another demon that needs killing.”
Turns out there were actually several demons that had been seen. So the clan masters had to split the students up into groups of two. The boy that was paired with Dorloan was one of the few students that he recognized. He was one of the mages in his class that was very gifted with ice magic. The two of them had been sent to the west side of town to take care of a demon that was described as wolf-headed with the body of a large lizard. Dorloan decided that he would shift into a hawk and scout ahead. As he was flying over the city looking for this demon he remembered just how much he loved shifting, the rush of it enthralled him so much it was like a drug. He couldn’t seem to find anything so Dorloan returned to his teammate. Little did Dorloan know he was the one being watched.
“What was that?” the ice mage asked. “What I didn’t hear anything,” replied Dorloan. The second Dorloan finished his sentence he caught something out of the corner of his eye. He quickly looked in the direction he had seen the thing, but nothing was there. The next thing he knew his teammate was on the ground with the demon on top of him. Quickly Dorloan pulled from his heart and let a medium sized fireball out of his hands. It hit the demon in the right flank and blasted it off of his friend. This demon was exactly as ugly as he thought it would be. The demon got up about 6 feet from the ice mage as the ice mage himself was struggling to get up. He had a huge bite mark on his left shoulder and an ugly looking gash from the demons claws. He didn’t look good actually, where the gash was his skin was turning a sickly green color, maybe the demon had poison on his claws. This was not good, Dorloan had to hurry up and kill the demon so he could help his friend. Dorloan had to not hold back like he usually did. As the demon ran towards Dorloan he reached deep down inside himself. Time seemed to slow down as he started to feel a tingling in his fingertips. Dorloan stretched out his fingertips as electricity crackled off of them, he stretched out his hands and a lightning bolt shot out. It struck the demon and the demon disintegrated. Dorloan quickly ran to the ice mage and asked if he was okay. The mage couldn’t even talk. Dorloan knew the mage was going to die and so did he, as Dorloan stepped away from the mage he took his last breath. Today had been a long day and it was time for Dorloan to go and report what had happened, and get a funeral prepared for the ice mage.

Cephor gently tugged on a light shawl as she prepared herself to do some shopping. She did a lot of the cooking around the house and thus she naturally did most of the shopping. Most of the clan was in some sort of meeting that Cephor didn’t feel like getting involved in. They had called it in a rather hasty fashion so she thought it better to get out of their way.

Walking down the street, Cephor took notice of how quiet the normally busy streets were. “Where is everyone?” She asked, pushing a piece of hair from her face. And then she got her answer. Out of nowhere a gust, of what she could only guess, of wind knocked her from her feet and against the nearest wall. It took several moments before she was able to regain her senses among the rubble of the destroyed wall across from her. To her horror, a large demon hovered over her.

The beast has dark black fur that covered only the main body, the paws, and head has scales of them like a lizard and the thing had razor sharp looking fangs. Cephor couldn’t move, couldn’t speak. Terror filled her small body, which she shook from. The muzzle of the beast moved slower, saliva dripped from its mouth onto the ground.

Am I going to die?

(I…Am so sorry Tourin that this is so late, but you have your chance to save her nao. :3 )

*Sigh* Why did all of this have to be happening? It seemed like all of this crap just had to start happening when he got to town. That’s why Dorloan had to leave the clan grounds, just for a little while. He had left and joined the hustle and bustle of the markets. As Dorloan walked he started to go into deep thought, not really thinking about anything in particular, but going into a trance-like state. As Dorloan walked he began to realize that there were no people anymore. Strange, he couldn’t hear any thoughts either. What is going on? Then he heard something, a small voice very quiet and scared.

Am I going to die?

Dorloan rushed to where he heard the voice. He had to hurry, because he had a bad feeling about this. But he was also worried about not hearing any other thoughts. He couldn’t have gone farm from the markets, and normal he could here everyone in the city. Now there was complete silence, it creeped Dorloan out. Why couldn’t the person think something else, it was so hard tracking this voice because the streets were so windy. Dorloan came to a “T” in the road and stopped. He searched for a trace of the voice, but didn’t have to search long. From his left he heard a huge crash. He snapped his head in the direction that the noise came from. All he could see down the road was a large cloud of dust coming from a smashed wall on the left side of the road about 250 feet away. Dorloan changed into his wolf-form and jumped onto the roof of a building on the right side of the road. As he rushed towards the cloud he reached out with his mind and tried to contact the other person. “Can you hear me? Are you still alive?” No response. Dorloan was getting closer to the dust cloud; he had to reach this person. “Please, if your there, just think something. One word is all I need.” At the moment he reached the edge of the dust cloud Dorloan heard something, very faint and very quiet, even for a thought. “Help……me.”

Dorloan jumped down into the dust cloud. As he fell he changed into a roc (very large bird) and began to flap his wings as hard as he could. He also pushed magic into the large wind gusts just to increase their effectiveness. Within about 15 seconds the dust was all gone, and then he saw it. A large black figure bent over like it was looming over something, or somebody. Dorloan rose up in the air and then folded his wings tight to his body aiming for a dive bomb at the creature. 5 feet before he reached the beast he changed into his human-form and, using magic, morphed his arm into a spear-like weapon. Sadly he miscalculated the angle to stab the creature at, so his arm stabbed through the beast between its neck and heart.

The beast reared up and Dorloan could see its head now. Contrary to its body covered in black fur its head was covered in scales and it hard large long fangs. Its body sort of resembled that of a black bear, but much larger and more human-like. Dorloan pulled himself up and onto the monsters humongous shoulders. He could see the person, the young woman, which he had heard. She was pretty beat up from being thrown through a wall, and she was barely conscious. The beast reached up with its hulking arm and tried to throw Dorloan off, but he jumped off at the last second. The best was facing Dorloan now and he could get a better look at it. This was no ordinary demon, he could tell. It must be one of the higher ranked demons that he had read about. As this thought crossed his mind a strong harsh voice assailed him. “Yes I am you pathetic human. And if you expect to be able to defeat me by yourself you are sadly mistaken.” What in the world was going on this demon just spoke to him mentally. “Yes I did. Now enough with this idle mind chatter human prepare to die!” The demon charged at Dorloan, as he dodged the demon extended its arm and caught Dorloan with two of its claws. Dorloan planted his feet and threw a large ball of fire at the monster. The magically fire hit the demon in the right shoulder and sputtered away, like it had no effect. Dorloan and the beast fought continuously for about an hour. Dorloan was pretty roughed up and he thought that he had hurt the creature as well, it was covered in gashes and burn marks, but it seemed as though it had not been hurt. All Dorloan knew was he had to finish this quickly or he would be too exhausted to fight.

Dorloan knew what to do. Since physical damage didn’t seem to phase this demon he would have to destroy its mind. Dorloan prepared himself as the monster charged once again. It extended its arms as if it were going to grapple him. Dorloan melted the stone from the walls of the buildings around him and extended it to the demons arms. Once the melted stone had almost reached the demons shoulders he solidified the stone, locking the creatures arms in place. Next he melted the stone at its feet and made it engulf the creature’s legs. The monster was trapped, at least for now. Dorloan checked on the woman very quickly, she was still lying in the rubble half-conscious. Dorloan sat down and faced the beast. He closed his eyes and focused on its mind. Dorloan began his mental assault, the whole time the demon was yelling curses at him both mentally and verbally. Dorloan attacked and attacked and then he finally found what he was looking for, the demons nerve epicenter. This battle was over. As Dorloan focused all of his mental strength on the epicenter it shattered. The demon wasn’t physically dead but it was mentally destroyed. Dorloan released the creature from its restraints and as it fell to the ground it disintegrated into nothingness.

Dorloan rushed over to the young woman and checked her pulse. She was still alive but her heart beat was slow. Although he was drained Dorloan still had some magical energy left. He channeled the energy into the muscles in his arms and picked the woman up, he had to get her back to his quarters so he could take care of her wounds.

~~~~~~**~~~~~~
Dorloan set the girl down on his bed. Now he could finally see what she actually looked like. She had beautiful black hair and a perfect body. Her breasts were extremely nice, they were perfectly round and almost perfect size. Dorloan wanted to grab them, but he stopped himself. That would not be very gentleman like of him.,especially since she was unconscious. She was probably between 17 and 20 years old, or that’s what Dorloan thought. What was this feeling; he had never felt this way before. It was a primal feeling, chemical attraction, that’s what he called it. He couldn’t take his eyes off of this beautiful woman. He kept scanning over her body and focusing on the little things. Like how her hair complemented her skin tone and how her body shape was perfectly in proportion. But he must focus on healing her; this was something he wasn’t particularly good at so it was going to take him awhile. She had yet to stir.
Cephor’s last memory was the terrifying creature that had attacked her in the street. Why was she out again? She tried to remember as she felt her consciousness float back to the surface as she heard someone shuffling around her. Oh yes, she had gone out to do the shopping for Razern and the boys. Did Razern save her? No, there was a voice in her head before she had passed out. It didn’t seem like it wanted to her hurt…Perhaps this was the person to match the voice?
Slowly Cephor’s eyes opened and the blue orbs scanned the room. She had no idea where she was but she felt like there was no danger to her. The man was looking at her for some reason…Did she have a terrible wound or something? She couldn’t feel anything like the sorts so she tried to sit herself up slowly. He head was pounding hard, enough so to make her dizzy. “E-Excuse me, but may I ask where I am?” The woman asked, bring a gentle hand to her head. She was with it enough to realize the monster was probably dead or at least they had gotten away from it…but what about any people around her?
Razern paced back and forth across the room. Where was she? She had gone out over an hour ago and the alarm had sounded that demons were around the city. He would have never allowed her to leave had he known she planned to go out. He banged his fist against the wall in frustration. What if she was hurt? “Cephor…” He said with a pained heart. Worry had long ago wormed its way into his gut and was only getting worse by the minute.
(this looks so short compared...T-T )
Dorloan had been trying to heal the young woman for quite some time now, but he had accomplished little. He had made sure to fix the major injuries like the 3 large gashes going from the middle of her stomach to her right hip. She was definitely going to have a large scar from that but at least it was healed. The girl still had several cuts and bruises, but Dorloan figured that those would heal quicker with time, and they also weren’t as life threatening. Dorloan was walking around the room taking a break from healing; using magic for extended amounts of time exhausted him, when he heard a serene voice from behind him. “Excuse me but may I ask where I am?”
Dorloan was surprised, the girl was still pretty roughed up and he hadn’t expected her to regain consciousness for awhile. He turned around and saw her trying to sit up. He rushed over and stopped her. “You shouldn’t try to doing anything physically tasking, your body is still very weak and you wouldn’t want to hurt yourself anymore would you?” She gently shook her head no. “My name is Dorloan and is where I live.” “I saved you from a terrible demon that would have killed you if I hadn’t showed up when I did.” Dorloan went on and told the girl all about the attack and how he had found her and then killed the demon. “May I ask your name young lady?” In a soft voice she said, “Cephor, Cephor is my name.” “Well Cephor, it’s nice to finally learn your name, now do you think you can sit up?” Cephor tried to sit up but started to struggle, so Dorloan reached over and helped by pulling her up. He then helped her stand up. “There are some fresh, clean clothes over on that table for you; I will leave the room for a minute so you can change.”
Dorloan stepped outside the door. Cephor, what a beautiful name. As Dorloan was thinking about her he realized he had forgotten something. He opened the door and stepped into the room; he began to say what he had meant to tell her, but stopped about two words in. Cephor had not finished changing clothes. Immediately Dorloan was red in the face. Here was this beautiful woman standing in front of him with nothing but a pair of trousers on, and he could not stop himself from staring. Just as she was about to say something her knees buckled. Dorloan quickly ran over and caught her before she hit the ground. “Are you alright?” Dorloan felt extremely heated right now. Here he was holding a half-naked woman in his arms, something he had never done before. What was he supposed to do?
(I bet you just love how I set this up. Im being hasty but I feel that this is where I want to go with this right now, so wel will see how it goes. Hopefully Cephor doesn't slap Dorloan. Cool
Cephor felt her body flush with heat and was starting to get dizzy. Perhaps standing to dress herself was not the best of ideas after taking such a hit to the head. She looked down at her side and stomach to see the long jagged scar that had formed. She frowned and traced her finger over it. What kind of mess did she get herself into? She winced as her finger traced over a still fresh cut and she withdrew her hand from her side.
Another question to ask herself was who really was the man that was taking care of her? She had never seen him around the city before…but that really shouldn’t surprise her. Cephor wasn’t allowed out of sight from her home with the boys and when she did leave it was normally with an escort. The men were far too over protective of her but they did mean no harm of it. Shaking her head to keep her thoughts on the present, Cephor picked up the clothing to dress herself and felt an overwhelming dizziness. She was about to sit herself down when Dorloan walked back into the room. She opened her mouth to scream her protect but felt her knees buckle underneath her. As her caught her she wrapped her arms around her chest as best she could and a dark stain of a blush then covered her face. “Y-Yes, I think I am…” She felt so venerable sitting how she was so she gently pushed away from him and wrapped the nearest piece of cloth around her.
“Can…” Cephor looked down, she was just too embarrassed to talk anymore and the dark stain on her face was evidence of it. She just clutched the fabric against her bosom and looked down from the stunned man. Were the scars on her body that bad or something? She didn’t know but she could tell his eyes were on her.
Dorloan quickly stood up and looked away from the girl. In a small voice he said, “I’m so sorry,” then ran out of the room. He slammed the door behind him and took off at a dead sprint towards the courtyard. As soon as he saw a break in the stone ceiling he jumped as high in the air as he could and changed into a bird. He ascended until he was above the clouds until he couldn’t see the city anymore. What had he done? That woman must be just as embarrassed as he was about the little incident. What was he going to say to her? Should he even go back to confront her after what he did? This was too much for Dorloan to handle. With the city in utter turmoil because of the demons, the two major clans on the brink of war if it hadn’t started already. Why did Master have to bring him to this town, and why did it just happen to be right now? This couldn’t be just a coincidence, something else was conspiring, something else called him to come here other than Master, but what? Dorloan continued to fly around ponder his thoughts for another couple hours.
After awhile Dorloan decided it was time to go back to the clan barracks, but he decided he needed to walk a bit. Dorloan descended and landed a few miles away from the barracks. As he walked he wondered what the woman was doing back in his dorm. As he walked down the street he saw a man shouting and holding up a piece of parchment. “Has anyone seen this woman, anyone at all?” Dorloan looked over at the parchment, and on it was a sketch that looked surprisingly like the woman that he had rescued. Could it be, he thought. He approached the man and asked him, “Excuse me sir, but who is this woman?” As the man was about to answer Dorloan realized something he should have seen and caught on to the moment he saw it. This man was dressed in the clothing of the rival clan.
(I am SOOOOOO sorry this took so long Taj. I am gonna try to reply sooner next time. Hopefully making Razern be searching for Cephor isnt power play.)
Cephor looked around the room with a dark stain of a blush on her face. “What…?” Before she could even ask him anything further the man ran out of the room and she didn’t see any more of him. Finishing with dressing herself, Cephor sat down with a concerned look on her face. “What just happened?” She asked herself this time and decided to wait for the man she had guessed that rescued her. At least she could wait around to properly thank him before running back to the dojo and pleading with the boys to forgive her.
Razern was worried, more than worried he was terrified for Cephor. She wasn’t in the dojo or to be found anywhere on the grounds and he knew that there was an attack happening in the city. He became even more concerned when a man inquired about the poster one of his men were holding of Cephor. “What do you know of this woman?” He asked, resting on his lance. It was a sharp and mean looking weapon that he favored and right now he was willing to use any method to find one of his best friends.
Dorloan froze for a moment after the man spoke, the power of his voice making him feel tense. His battle senses took control and he looked around the immediate are for escape routes just in case a fight broke out, the least thing he needed right was a fight in the middle of the city streets. Dorloan studied the man in detail, paying most attention to the lance that he was leaning on. As he stood there Dorloan scanned them mans thoughts, listening in for anything important that he should know. This man’s thoughts scared Dorloan slightly, he was willing to do anything to find the woman that was in his dorm, even kill to get her back. The man repeated his question to Dorloan and, in return he locked eyes with him and replied, “I believe and have the found woman you are searching for good sir. I can bring her to you, but you must wait for me here. If I may ask, what is your name sir?” The man replied in his strong voice, “My name is Razern.” Razern, a fitting name for a man of his stature and presence. “Alright Razern, wait for me here and I shall return with the woman that you are searching for.” Without waiting for Razern to reply Dorloan turned around and ran off in the opposite direction that he needed to go to get back to the dojo. After a few hundred feet Dorloan looked back to make sure he wasn’t being followed and then turns down a side alley and shape-changed into a rat to make sure no one could follow him.
Dorloan arrived at the dojo and shifted back to his human form before running inside, only the master knew of his shape-changing abilities and he didn’t care to let anyone else know just yet. He hurried inside and rushed to his room, the whole time thinking of what he should say to Cephor. He opened the door to his chambers and poked his head in to make sure Cephor was fully clothed. He was that she was and then stepped inside and shut the door behind him. He looked over to her and looked down, still ashamed about what happened earlier. “Cephor……I’m so sorry about earlier, really I am.” He looked back at her and proceeded across the room towards her. He stopped a few feet in front of her and looked up into her eyes. He spoke in a soft voice, “There is a man named Razern that is searching for you, he wears the garments of the Chaos Guards. Please tell me that you are not associated with those men, it would be very, very bad if you were. If you haven’t been out of the room yet to see, you’re in the Peacekeepers dojo. Please, you must explain to me what it was you were doing out roaming the city streets while there is a demon attack going on.” As Dorloan spoke he had to keep himself from reading Cephor’s thoughts, he felt like it would be an invasion of her privacy. For some odd reason Dorloan actually cared for this woman. How was it possible for him to feel this way about a complete and total stranger? “I told Razern I would bring you back to him, so please; do explain this quickly before he gets even more impatient than I know he already is.” Dorloan studied Cephor curiously as she began to explain herself.
( : D I finally got it done, its been too long since I've don this and I almost forgot how much I enjoy doing it. Hope you like it Tajy, can't wait for your reply :3)
The worried feeling Razern was getting before for Cephor, only grew when someone said he knew where she was and wasn’t saying anything more. Who was he and why he did he run off in such a hurry. There was an odd nervous feeling he got from the man and Razern scoffed in an annoyed fashion to cover his fear for her. If the man didn’t come back soon with his friend, he would just go find the man and beat the answer out of him. There were attacks going on in the city and this was no place for someone who couldn’t fight, didn’t have the heart to fight actually. Cephor was one of the sweetest people he knew. She always looked out for others before herself and made sure everyone in the guard had a smile on his face.
Cephor sat in the room she was left in, not really sure what the heck had just happened, but really in no place to be leaving either. She was starting to get worried that she was forgotten when the same man came back into the room apologizing for earlier. The memory brought a dusting of a blush on her face but she shook her head with a smile. “You didn’t mean any harm, so it’s alright.” She said, and her smile faded as he brought up Razen, the Chaos Guards, and the Peacekeepers. Good gracious, she got herself involved with the rival guards of the city?! Cehpor frowned, looking down to her hands which were folded in her lap. “Yes, I live in the dojo associated with the Chaos Guards…they are all like my brothers.” She said softly, feeling some odd amount of guilt, like she should have stated where she was from earlier. “I know both groups are not on good terms and I apologize for not saying who I was sooner…Please forgive me…” She said, a sad tone to her voice.
Even if it was someone Razern would not approve of, Cehpor never wanted to hurt someone, even more someone who had saved her life. She stood and looked at Dorloan straight in the eye. “I should probably go…” Her dark hair spilled onto her face, accenting her gentle blue eyes as she moved her gaze towards the door.
Dorloan looked down at the ground, still embarrassed by what he had done earlier. “You’re right, you’re “brother” is getting impatient and thinking about coming after me right now. I can’t have him stumbling upon the dojo and finding you, there would be a clan war that isn’t needed right now.” Although he didn’t want her to leave, he knew she had to. This was not the place for her and it would be the end of both of them. Why was he feeling this way about a Chaos Guard girl? He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. He realized he was staring at her and quickly looked away, blushing. He turned and opened the door for her. “After you lady.”
Cephor looked at Dorloan with a bit of guilt, seeing that he was obviously distressed and simply nodded softly as she walked past him and out into the street, looking around momentarily. “Um, I am not exactly sure where to go.” She admitted with a soft blush, she had not been out of the area around the dojo for a long while and knew that it was because the people living there were very protective of her. She had gone to the store, or to wash clothing or other simple tasks around the dojo but that had been about it since she was a little girl.
“You seem like a good person.” She said with a soft smile, folding her hands in front of her neatly as she waited for him to lead the way back to Razern. He was the impatient type and she was honestly surprised he had agreed to stay where ever Dorloan had left him. Did he know that Dorloan was with the Peacekeepers? Not possible. He wouldn’t have left the man alone. “I think we should keep where you are from a secret for now.” She suggested, not really one to lie but she wanted to keep things peaceful for the both of them.
Dorloan followed Cephor out the door watching her movements as she walked. His body intrigued her to a point where it was almost too much. “Thank you Cephor. I think the same of you.” He knew the way to get back to that man quite well. He had a great memory after all. “I will take you back to your Chaos Guard friend, but I don’t want him to know that it’s me bringing you back. I have an idea.”
Dorloan stepped back a bit from Cephor and looked at her. “Don’t be too shocked please?” His body twisted and contorted, growing larger and more bulky. His limbs lengthened and his back arched. After his transformation was complete a horse stood in front of Cephor, tall, black, and muscular. Dorloan reached out with his mind to speak to Cephor. “Climb up please so I can take you to Razern. Also, you can call me Dor.” He waited for Cephor now.
Cephor was slightly confused as to how Dorloan planned to get her back without Razern showing who he was when he had seen him the first time. Or so she had assumed, being in the room she would have never of guessed that the two would meet each other. She smiled gently at the thought of Razern and his brash ways stomping around the city until she would have been found.
When Dorloan asked her not to be shocked she titled her head slightly to wait for a further explanation. She soon got it when Dorloan started to shift and she had to put a hand over her mouth to keep from gasping. Did it surprise her? Yes, of course, but she wasn't scared. After he had fully transformed into a beautiful horse Cephor couldn't help but stare for a moment. She brought her hand up to his silken coat of fur and brushed it gently. She was a little more shocked when Dorloans voice brushed the corners of her mind and told her to get on. "Are you sure...?" She asked, still having her fingers plunged in the soft fur which was his coat. Without waiting for an answer she carefully climbed onto his back, having slight trouble because of his height but managed to get herself situated enough. "Alright. Dor...this is amazing."
Dor’s mind brushed Cephor’s lightly again. “Thank you. I’m glad it didn’t scare you. This is a new one for me so bare with me if the ride is a bit bumpy. Off we go.” Dor trotted off in the direction of where Razern had been, being slow with his gate at first so he could get accustomed to being a horse. After he had gotten used to the way his legs moved he sped up into a brisk run, then a gallop. He was in a hurry to get Cephor back to her heathen brother. Yet, he didn’t want to let her go. Oh well, it had to be done. He concentrated on keeping his pace steady as they approached Razern’s location.
They rounded the corner and, to Dorloan’s surprise, Razern was still standing there waiting. He hadn’t taken off by himself to find his beloved sister. He just waited. He could tell that he wasn’t happy about it though. Dor didn’t even need to read his mind to know that. He could tell by the way he was acting. Dor stopped in front of Razern and waited for Cephor to get down.
Cephor wasn’t used to riding a horse to say the least, she had probably only been on a horse once in her life for a very short trip. It took her a little while to hold on without nearly slipping off and she was glad that his pace going up to a gallop was slow or she would have easily taken a tumble into the street. As Razern came into view she noted his angry posture and her heart beat painfully. She had made him worry and she knew it. Once Dor came to a stop she slipped off his back slowly, putting a hand on his large neck with a pat.
Razern wasn’t sure that his sister was coming towards him until the large horse was nearly upon him. Why on Earth was she on a huge black horse and how did she get back without the guide of the buffoon who had her in the first place? He put his thoughts behind him as she got off the beast and he walked over to her, drawing her into a tight, angry hug. “Don’t scare me like that again.” He warned.
Cephor returned the hug, in a more gentle fashion and pulled back to smile at him. “I’m sorry…I was saved by someone when the attack happened…I wouldn’t have left had I of known the city was on attack.” She said honestly, as she looked to the horse.
“Did you find a stray beast?” He asked, looked from his sister to the animal.
“You could say that.” She said with a chuckle which disappeared as Razren brought out a rope and held it out to her. “You might as well take him back with us. He looks like a strong steed.” He said with a smile.
Cephor looked up to Dor, unsure what he would have wanted her to do.
Dor stomped his hoof against the ground as Razern pulled out the rope. There was no way in hell he was letting him put that on him. He couldn’t go back with Cephor. He didn’t want to remain a horse all the time, kept in the stables of the Chaos Guards. Although, if he did go then he could possibly spy on the enemy and relay what he found back to the heads of the Peacekeepers. Maybe he could get the two clans to work out a truce. All he knew was that he didn’t want to leave Cephor. He had grown feelings for this woman. “I’ll come with you Cephor.” He walked over beside Cephor and leaned his head down beside her. “But I will not let him put that rope on me.”
Razern frowned when the horse began to pull away and stood by Cephor. That wasn't normal behavior for an animal and it made him suspicious. "Cephor, where did you find him?" He asked, eyeing the beast and then looked back to her. She wasn't one to hide something from him so if she said something he would never doubt the words she spoke.
"Calm yourself, Razren, he isn't going to harm anyone...He is just a little nervous around men, I think." She can't believe she lied to him, but she couldn't help the words that had formed on her tongue and came out of her mouth. She put her hand up, wrapping it around Dor's neck and patting him softly. "I think he'll walk back with me." When Razren shrugged and began walking, Cephor looked up to Razren and tried to speak back through her mind. "I've never lied to him before.." She admitted softly, beginning to follow Razren back to the dojo. It was admission that she was willing to lie for him, despite just meeting him.
“You didn’t have to do that Cephor. I could have easily influenced his thoughts. It would be easy enough to make him not be suspicious of me.” Dor paused for a moment as they walked. He looked around, studying the area of the city, mapping his way back to his dojo in his mind. “At least in theory it would be easy. I’ve never actually tried it before. It could have also gone horribly wrong and his memory could have been wiped.” He knew Cephor would disapprove of this just from being with her this short time. “Yea that probably wouldn’t have been a good idea. How far is this dojo of yours?”
Cephor actually became a little scared at the thought that Dor could do that, take someones memories...and then when he mentioned it could have gone horribly wrong she grew nervous and gave a small smile in return. "I'm glad you didn't then." She continued to speak through the mind, not wanting to tip Razern off. "Its not far from here, actually. Are you not familiar with this part of the city?" She asked, sending a warm smile up to Razren as he turned around as if he knew he was being talked about.
As the came closer to the large building, the dojo appeared and Razern turned to Cehpor. He walked over, giving her a tight hug that the girl wasn't expecting. "Don't do this again, okay?" He whispered before turning to walk into the large building. It was an old style Japanese dojo that was well kept and open. Gardens and open spaces led to the stables and there was a large ten foot fence around the entire property.
"Just follow me to the back of the stables." Cephor advised, doing do and looking around to make sure there was no one around. "Alright, your safe..." she said, waiting to see if he would turn back.
Dorloan followed Cephor back to the stable as she said, taking in as much of the dojo as he could and memorizing what he saw. The dojo wasn’t much different than his. The colors were different, of course, and the architecture had a few slight differences. Overall from what he saw the layout was almost the same as the Peace Keepers dojo.
Once they arrived at the stables Dor looked at Cephor. “Do you want me to stay here until night falls so that I can get out more easily? I’m sure that if the guards saw me there would be trouble.”
Cephor nodded, in agreement that he should stay until nightfall. They were heavily guarded for most of the day, expecting attacks from demons or the Peacekeepers units. (Though attacks from the other guard were far less likely being across town and the elders of the city forbidding it.) "That would probably be for the better..I could sneak you back to my room...Its towards the back of the building so its usually rather quiet...." She blushed slightly at the thought of bringing a man into her room, but it really was the safest place for him to hide for the several hours left before the night fell upon them.
She waited for the men to pass, giving them a small smile and a wave as they went about on their patrol and then waved back to Dor to change back to a human and then follow her. She tiptoed across the small garden to a back door and opened it quickly, stepping into the room and leaving the door ajar for Dor to come in.
