Hone wasn't going to interfere with the two airborne dragons as they fought their little aerial battle, picking herself up from the mud and turning to lick at the slice across her shoulders while she was not under direct attack. They would come down eventually, or do each other in in the meantime. Either way would be alright for Hone, and she quite happily watched for the few moments they tousled, paddling her feet in the mud. Icky.
She found herself on the move again as they finally came down, leaping her way between grass knolls- which seemed less likely to sink beneath her paws, after testing a few different textures of ground beneath her feet- to get a little closer. One of them was on the ground, the other quite laborious in his attempts to get higher up in the sky. As Hone didn't really want her ears tattered or her block knocked off in some sort of mad dive the lightning storm might do (and it looked like kinda fun, a bit like jumping for apples), she leapt up and down with her jaws open and snapping as he tried to get away, biting hard every time she got close and then shaking her head from side to side like a savaging beast as she tried to pull him out of the sky. The other dragon seemed to be in some pain, all twisted up in horrible shapes too.

For a few seconds Zykolos was entirely unable to move, numb with shock at the sudden destruction of his wing. Finally, he realised that while he lay there like a sack of potatoes he could easily be entirely incapacitated or even killed by one of the other dragons. Thankfully, Measle was fleeing and Hone had chosen to pursue him rather than come and maul Zykolos. Slowly, he hauled himself back onto his feet and gathered his strength in a low crouch for a moment, his eyes slitted half-shut with pain.
"Why would you do this to me?" he moaned in a flare of self-pity. "What did I ever do to you to deserve this?" He shook his head, wallowing in his misery for a final moment before heaving himself into a standing position at last and taking a few tentative steps and then trying to move his wing. He was met with no success and another huge flare of pain. Apparently that approach was in vain. With another drawn-out sigh, he tucked the broken wing away securely before turning his attention to Hone, who was still distracted snapping at Measle. Crippled as he now was, his best bet was surprise, and if he could take out Hone's main weapon then she'd at least be incapacitated to the same level as him, right? It would pain her slightly to move with a badly injured tail, too. Creeping forwards as quietly as he could, he got as close as possible before making contact in what couldn't really be described as a pounce. Nonetheless, he had teeth and claws, and he aimed to put then to good use.

Measle thought he was going to escape when Hone’s first snap came short, but a sharp pain through his already injured legs shortly afterwards told him otherwise. He doubled his efforts to escape as Hone began to tear at his legs, but his wing muscles were barely enough to carry him, let alone the larger lash dragon as well. First his balance faltered from the shaking (which was rending bloody grooves in his calves); then his wings gave out against the strain and sent him tumbling down to earth again. He crumpled on top of Hone and planted his nose square in the mud, spluttering and growling. He gave a snarl when he tried to move, his hind legs now even more painful than before. He could see Zykolos approaching out of the corner of his eye, but it was too difficult to turn around quickly to see what he was doing. Hopefully the other dragon would go for Hone while he was splatted in the mud, and the two elites would fight each other for long enough for Measle to recover his strength a little. He rolled off Hone into even deeper mud and blinked as his ears rang and his vision swam red with pain.

Hone screeched as claws and teeth suddenly found their way around her tail, taken by surprise as she was attacked from the back by Zykolos. That no-good swamp croc! Swishing her tail from side to side didn’t seem to get him off; it actually seemed to make it worse, making him dig his claws in.
At least she had gotten hold of that little lightning storm, and shook her head like a dog with a bone as he came back down to earth again… albeit all over Hone. Mud everywhere. Front squished. Tail hurting. Not to mention, squished. Squished was bad for a dragon that really did not like small spaces. Needless to say the noise she made was far from intelligible, and she flailed around like a mad animal until Measle was off on his own patch of mud. Even then she didn’t stop wriggling, tail now slashing from side to side and wings flinging mud everywhere, almost as if she were a bird having a waterbath. She was not a happy dragon now.

Hone’s thrashing around as Zykolos desperately tried to hang on really did him no good, jarring his wing until he couldn’t help but let out a little moan of pain. Finally deciding that she wasn’t worth the effort, he gathered himself and then made a scrambling sort of jump, clambering over Hone’s back and head in a mad attempt to get clear before she could attack his back as he had hers. Not pausing to look back, he steeled himself and made a second leap, resisting the natural urge to spread his wings. He landed in a mess somewhere near Measle and, with another whine, managed to drag himself a few steps to the lightning storm and aim vaguely at some part of him with his teeth. At least, he thought it was Measle; everything seemed to be a little blurry. And was it just him, or was there some kind of sound…

It took him a moment to realise than he had not, in fact, stopped whining. Promptly he stopped himself, abruptly feeling oddly cross. Was that any way to go about representing the Elites? They didn’t /whine/; they were strong warriors. With this in mind, he set to with a newfound and tiny burst of energy, aiming for Measle once more.

Measle forced himself to lift his head out of the mud as Hone shook him off, trying desperately to clear his head and get up properly. His legs were agony – the watery mud stung the deep cuts across the backs of his knees even more. He heard Zykolos coming before he saw him, but that shocked him upright again. Roaring in pain as he transferred weight across his injured legs, he launched himself towards Zykolos’ oncoming attack with his own teeth and claws outstretched, aiming to bite at the other dragon’s neck and throw him off. His whole body felt too heavy to lift off the ground now, but maybe if he was clever he still stood a chance? He was trying hard to forget that he was a very small, very young dragon fighting two elites – it was hardly the most promising position.

At least Hone seemed to be busy with the mud – he couldn’t cope with both at once. He would be forced to back down if that happened, or else find himself unconscious in the mud very quickly.

Even once Zykolos had clambered over Hone and found himself a bit of space for his own, rather than encroaching on Hone's, she continued to thrash until she had managed to squirm her way backwards and almost all the way into one of the ponds lying around. Highly unpleasant, although sprayed all over much more impressively than the sticky mud did. And it cleaned off her scales a bit, which could only be a plus.
However, it was cold.
She squirmed her way forward and laid out to take a breather for a moment as the sword dragon squealed over and over again about whatever had been done to him, and Measle... well, they were really going at one another now. Like, with teeth and claws and quite like two alley cats that had a bit of a grudge over a really good looking tabby. Sitting up, Hone cocked her head to one side to watch better what was going on.
She was... getting a better seat to watch than any of those brutish Kaionar lot sitting up in the audience.
"Carry on then, I don't mind..."

Zykolos didn't even really realise Measle was attacking until teeth connected around his throat, grating against the scales for a second before gripping; he certainly didn't have a chance to dodge. Blinking in surprise, he waved his paws feebly about  in the air for a time before finding Measle and batting ineffectively at him. Thankfully- though likely not due to his effort at defence, given that the only connection he made was a few light brushes across the lightning storm's shoulders- Measle withdrew swiftly. Now regretting his decision to attack, Zykolos squirmed backwards as best he could, tail twitching across the ground in search of another watery patch. Any relief would be more than welcome at this point, and water seemed like his best bet; after all, it was in abundance in this arena. Maybe if he could just get away a bit, Hone and Measle would fight each other instead. Maybe he could still win...

Or not...

Measle was genuinely surprised that he managed to land the attack, but he didn’t follow through with it – he barely got his teeth in place before slipping back, missing. He caught one of Zykolos’ flailing paws in the jaw, but neither of them seemed to have their full strength any longer. It was like the last round all over again, with Hone just watching them, waiting for them totake each other out. Measle stopped suddenly as he realised that, staggering back as his legs began to give out underneath him. If they both refocused on the other elite, maybe they could even up the odds a bit? But he doubted he would beable to convince Zykolos of that. Either way, he couldn’t stay where he was. He opened his wings in anther desperate bid to clear the ground, his feet dragging limply out of the mud with a thick kind of sound. He felt like he was flapping hopelessly and going nowhere for a long time, before he finally began to rise out of the mud painflly slowly.

As Measle took off- though not without some effort- Zykolos watched with jealously, his eyes rolling weakly about to watch the other dragon. After a second, it foggily occurred to him that now Measle was out of range, Hone's only target was... him. Redoubling his efforts, he shoved himself backwards in desperate search of water and promptly managed to dump himself in a puddle of mud which was just thin enough to sink in but too thick to be called water. He thrashed for a moment, desperately trying to break up through the surface, before eventually managing to get himself propped uncomfortably on a rock with his head sticking out of the bog like some kind of strange plant.

Hone had stood by to see the other two dragons slog it out over the last vestiges of their strength. But now… well, this place was gross, smelled really quite bad now they had churned up all the mud, and she was getting cold. Time to call it quits and let these two toddle off to somewhere they could get their much more major injuries sorted out. She had a few of her own, but they weren’t nearly as bad as what the others had managed to inflict on one another.
The previous arena had been much more to her liking.

The sword dragon was flailing around like some swamp crocodile in a patch of mud nearby, not that scary at all any more, and the other dragon… well, a valiant effort, but really, he was much better down. Jumping forwards, she swung round with her tail (turning it so she didn’t slice him in half, she wasn’t a cruel dragon), smacking into his side and knocking off his laborious balance. No chance. And in a lucky move, falling right into the downed Zykolos.
Score two for Hone!

((If this is okay with you flumps, Zykolos and Measle have both been knocked out of this round!))

The game was on. This was it.
Hone had had a ‘talking to’ out of the arena following her last match, feeling somewhat victorious given the fact she hadn’t done much, just waited out the other two doing themselves over, but mostly just glad to be hosed down after all that mud. Of course, it meant water was involved, but at least she was clean now.
Apparently she was supposed to take this round seriously, even if she hadn’t taken the others particularly so. This was the big one, the final round.

The minute Hone got put into the arena, she gave a loud bugle of excitement however, her face lighting up wide. Sand, glorious sand! No mud, no hills or strange tunnels or ice like she had heard the humans had gotten, but sand! She would be in her element, warm and happy and facing up against her toughest opponent yet, but sand!

Okay, concentrating. Tourney, right. She shuffled her feet, holding out her tail behind her as she stretched her wings out to either side and put her front paws down onto the ground too, ready for a bit of a brawl. Then a roll, a good roll.

Gerris didn't enjoy the fact that this would be a face to face brawl, but as soon as his toes dug into sand, he didn't feel quite so left to his own devices. When it came to brass facts, he was not exactly the strongest dragon with the most terrifying teeth and claws, despite the inside of his jaw looking like a horde of needles.

Upon entering the arena, it wasn't hard to spot his colorful opponent. Wonderful, a Lash. If there was anything in this world worse than losing it was losing to a Lash.

They were not only infuriatingly chipper as a whole, but also nigh incomprehensible. They spoke like they were all dropped as eggs.

They probably were all dropped as eggs.

There was no bugle of excitement from him. His eyes narrowed and he snaked closer, then flared his wings and fanned up some sand to either blind his opponent or mask his movements.

Both was good.

He shot forward like an arrow. Lashes couldn't fly, he could and he'd be using that to his advantage.

Okay, so this wasn’t shaping up to exactly be ‘fun’. Hone’s opponent looked pretty sulky; a fume, which probably wouldn’t turn out as a fun person to be around either. More easily likened to skunks than sidekicks… hm. She would be chilled out though, even if things weren’t looking up. She had tried fighting sensibly before, and it had gone a lot less well than when she had just relaxed and gone about her normal way of doing things.

She held her ground as he wandered closer, sneaking along the ground like a cat creeping up on its prey (only she could see him, all too clearly), relaxing her shoulders and her wings to drag them in again once he did that funny bum-wiggle that always followed a cat stalk.
Or not, no bum-wiggle from this one. She squinted her eyes shut as a wave of sand was wafted her direction from his wings, then took off to one side running, feet pounding the ground. Lashes were much faster than fume dragons, and she couldn’t help but giggle happily to herself as she ran right around Gerris and back to the other side of the arena. She could happily run laps for a while.

Of all the infuriating things to battle, it had to be a freak that was faster than him. Luckily, he wasn't aiming to tackle her, merely to test her resolve, and she was just as moronic and cracked as he thought she was. Using the now empty space before him, he bunched his hind feet under him as he ran the last few meters and propelled himself into the air, beating his wings enough to get him off the ground and into the sky.

Flying was a lot of work when there was no updrafts, no wind, but it was a lot less work when there was an arena with hot sand underneath him. Immediately he began to release a toxin as he circled the arena, trying not to be directly above the Lash, less she show off some other talent, like jumping super high or some other such nonsense.

Whoosh, round and round. It was easy enough for Hone to find herself back the other side of the sand, Gerris left far behind. Why should she not? If they were going to duel this out in speed, she was going to use her full advantage of it.
Unfortunately, the fume dragon didn’t seem to have that sort of humour, stoic-faced in response to her inane giggling. Not even a smile? Well. Hone only wanted a bit of fun, and he was no fun at all.

Especially when he decided to take to the sky. Hone knew full well that lash dragons couldn’t fly, despite trying to over and over and over again- that had rewarded a few interesting hours, and bruises- so she slowed her pace, feet padding more heavily along the sand.
“Well that ain’t no fun! Y’come down ‘ere at once, you!” she called after him, not really knowing which way to turn when he floated round so happily in circles. To jump in front, to chase… or just sit until he got bored?

He made a few passes, making sure that he thoroughly poisoned the air before he landed, tucking his wings tight, body taut. Lashes, although impossible to take seriously, were also insane and unpredictable. All he needed to do was let his guard down and in the act of "playing" this freak would tear him open and win the purse.

Gerris was not going to lose a battle under Kaionarian rules.

There was going to be dirty fighting, cheating and overall doing whatever he needed to win. It was harder when he couldn't get into the mental game of his opponent.

He supposed he should have faked it and started playing around with her, but he also supposed she already knew he was ruthless.

She was faster than him, that was a given, so there would be no running and chasing. He'd also have to be mindful of her claws, but he had teeth to be afraid of and his tail was like a whip when need be. There was also the fact that he'd spit poison right in her face, and swat sand in her eyes.

The fume dragon seemed awfully full of himself, to just coast around like he did as if he owned the place, and ignore all the ‘rules’ of the fight that had been put down. Well, there was common courtesy, at least- and that did not involve moseying around until a lash dragon died of pure boredom.

The thought of taking a sand bath while she waited popped back into Hone’s head, but thankfully the other dragon landed before not too long had passed, putting her back in the game again. She scraped her feet along the ground like a runner at the starting block, wiggling her tail high up in the air like a cat waiting to pounce, then was off, charging towards him with a bounce in her step and a willingness to do something more than just sit and look at one another. Her mouth was open in a wide grin as she leapt towards him, swishing her claws experimentally to see how fast his reactions were, then darting out a little around him, bouncing on her feet like a jack rabbit in excitement.

Gerris was in his prime, and paranoid about anything harming his scales. He flinched out of the way of her claws and darted away from her open jaw, swatting sand with his tail. Flying was reserved for when it was necessary, as it took too much effort, and being tired around this Lash was asking to lose.

It was like they didn't know energy could be wasted.

Bounding around like the fool she was, Gerris hated her.

Gerris hated a lot of things, and all of them included some connection to being dirty and in physical combat. He leaked fumes as he kept his eyes on her, throat tense. If she came bounding by with her mouth open again, he'd spit and see how good she thought his poison tasted.
