Name: Maruas Seleni
Age: 30
Occupation: leader of the Pegasai band, a decent number of skilled horsemen and warriors that travel and work along a route starting at Didienne, moving toward Kaionar, then on to the cities north of the Nusfarian desert. As a dangerous route, they have found themselves well compensated for their services as escorts, guides and guardians. When not working on the trail, they instead work as local guardians against any nuisances they are fit to contend with, often being petty bandits and nuisance dragons.
The Pegasai can also defend against larger dragons but their skill, and years of wisdom, are moreso in tactical avoidance or deterrence of these types of dragons than risking lives needlessly.
Appearance: Maruas at a first glance has an imposing stature, being tall, muscular, and with few slender features. Her skin is naturally a medium brown, though further deepened under the frequent naked sun of the Nusfarian region, while her eyes are a pale yellowy green. Her hair is dark brown with many curls and reddish tint, very long, yet always tied when working.
Maruas can often be found wearing quality clothes befitting her importance, but they are rarely garish or boastful, as she dislikes drawing unnecessary attention to herself. While on the trail, she favours light armour at most, given the unforgiving climate, while being equipped with a sword and shield.
Personality: Her nature leans to the reserved side. She is commonly misjudged as being placid or unwilling to act, but those that have lived under her leadership or held contracts with her know better, as her balanced situational judgement and diligence have time and again inspired faith from these people. In fact, on the contrary, Maruas is exceptionally perceptive and quick to respond to her environment, making her a canny tactician and invaluable when contending with powers often greater than themselves. She is not particularly a born leader, and would rather her actions speak for her instead.
Amongst friends and family, she is relaxed and amiable. While not interested in intellectual pursuits, or having the education for them, Maruas is a great listener and values learning from the people around her, as well as enjoying many of the simple things in life giving her a calm and stable demeanour - she is quite easy to get along with, if not very exuberant or having an overly strong presence outside of her hard-earned reputation.
Background: born and raised to a nomadic trader clan, allegedly originating from the northern Kaionar region, Maruas has plentiful experience, and aptitude besides that, for life as a traveler and horsewoman. In such clans it is common to learn to defend oneself, which is where her earliest experiences lie. Owing to later splits in her clan and the subsequent branching off of people to roam in search of work solely as guides and guardians, later becoming the Pegasai, Maruas found herself in this same stream of people. It was initially made up of only able people from related clans that volunteered, but with growing success a good number of unrelated individuals were recruited. The role of leader and captain has changed hands many times, and membership to the band is always in flux, with the only requisite being skill and a good reputation. Maruas earned her place as its leader through a combination of years of steady successes, good connections with a number of kinsmen and effective handling of the men and women that come and go from the Pegasai over the years.
Speech: Contractions, concrete examples, thoughtful but largely pragmatic questions, prone to long pauses, even tone, loud only when she needs to be, generally speaks little. (Seen as cagey or dull, but is mostly just easy-going)
