| The tension was growing by the second and even though it should have been a relief to Abraxas that Ladon felt it too, thus assuring her that she was not yet losing her sanity, the horse dragon wished for this to be some sort of a bad dream. She knew she was awake and that this was not a dream but nevertheless she kept hoping to wake up at any second.
All of a sudden, there was movement and before the horse dragon could even squeal in surprise and fright, something was already on her back. As Ladon swivelled towards her to get a hold of the attacker – whatever it was – she began to flutter her wings and reared up on her hind legs in an attempt to shake off the creature. Her heart beat was racing like mad and her thoughts were one big mess, making her act out of pure instinct before thinking. She didn’t even realise that she might be hitting Ladon as well with her wings or her hooves. Rearing and bucking like a horse would do, Abraxas tried to rid herself of the attacker, completely ignoring anything else around her until she suddenly got another scent into her nose.
“Silver!” she yelled. At first, she thought he was in danger as well and merely wanted to point Ladon towards the fact that his rider was close by if he had not noticed that himself by then. But the thought had barely formed when all of a sudden, she realised that the scent was much, much too close. “Why would he do something like that?” Growling in anger, the horse dragon decided to go for the blunt approach and simply threw herself on the ground, in that second not caring whether she crushed Silver underneath her or not. She was furious now!

| Silver had mere seconds to react before being crushed between Abraxas and the ground, but thanks to his unnatural speed, he leaped of her back before any harm could get him. "Whoa whoa, it's just me!" He said while backing away from Abraxas. He turned to the still growling Ladon and said, "You should not let your guard down, you should have smelled my scent while I was some meters away."
Ladon snarled, baring his fangs, And you should know better than to sneak up on dragons... What were you thinking?! He roared. Silver just grinned, "Consider it some kind of training, and besides, by this, I simply win again." He then turned to Abraxas, "We are leaving, is there any place you wish for us to accompany you to?" He questioned, after all, he couldn't just leave her alone without knowing that she's safe

| Abraxas growled now as well as Ladon was yelling at Silver, who was trying to calm them both but was scolding them at the same time. Getting up off the ground – secretly glad she had not crushed Silver, despite being furious – she shook herself and flattened her wings against her back tightly. “Training my ass,” the horse dragon called it out in fury. “We thought you were a bloody demon!”
Considering Silver’s words, the horse dragon was quickly distracted again as the earlier scent wafted back into her nose. Forgotten was her anger at Silver and she didn’t even listen to any further bickering between the two, neither did she reply to the shadowhunter. After what seemed like ages, she whispered: “I can still smell it, Ladon.” She knew the magpie would immediately know what she was talking about and would certainly be more apt to explain to his rider as she was now growing more and more confused. If they were supposed to have smelled Silver from miles away, how come he had not smelt the demon like they were so clearly?
All of a sudden, the scent was not the problem anymore when shadows were shrouded around them and a very powerful aura pressed down upon the horse dragon. She was not sure if the others felt it too, but the presence was oppressing! Weren’t demons supposed to be unable to go out in the daylight? “This is not good,” she whispered, sudden fear threatening to tie off her breathing apparatus as Abraxas looked from left to right in order to detect any hint of what was certainly a demon.
Before anything other than the growing darkness became visible however, there was an odd sound echoing through the shadows. It sounded like claws being ripped over stone, producing an unbearably shrill sound, making Abraxas cringe. “You killed my baby! Suffer the consequences!”

| Silver cursed in a harsh whisper before running back to retrieve his weapons that he put underneath the tree. He quickly dug through the packs at donned his armor and his weapon belt. As quickly as he could, he ran back next to Abraxas, sword in hand.
"Ladon, what did you do?! Explain at once!" He scolded, eyes frantically searching for the demon.
The magpie growled low in his throat, I have done nothing, it seems that the time we face a tanned demon has finally arrived. he replied mockingly. He was sure as hell happy that they have gotten some much needed rest the night before.

| “We’re innocent on this one,” Abraxas murmured, her eyes frantically searching for the form of the demon which was obviously hiding in its own make-shift darkness. “What is this though?” Another loud roar was the reply as the voice of the demon boomed through the air once more: “Nobody lays a hand on my baby without paying for it! What you have done was outrageous! You will suffer in the deepest levels of hell for this blasphemy, rest assured of that!
The body still did not appear but the demon was definitely moving around, probably trying to find the best position to apparently take its revenge upon them. Whatever it was planning, Abraxas was sure it was not going to be nice for them. The rest had been a blessing, but sadly, it was probably going down the drain now.
“How is that thing even able to be out in daylight?!” the horse dragon asked, with a glance at Ladon before fixing her eyes back onto the shadows. “I mean, it’s not really tanned... so to speak, is it?” In her imagination the tanned would be some sort of special demon that had scales or skin that would tolerate the sunlight – a scary thought in truth.
All of a sudden, a thought crept up that simply did not want to be shaken off. “Could it be,”, Abraxas cleared her throat, unable to believe what she was thinking and now saying out loud, “that this is last night’s demon’s mother?!” It was just too crazy to be true but it started sounding more and more like it.
“All three of you will be tortured until you forget your names, who you are, where you came from. You will never get to see the sunlight ever again. Anything you have ever considered valuable to yourself, you will never ever have again. And then I will kill you one after the other, very slowly, and I shall enjoy every second.”

| Silver let out a chuckle, "It sure sounds like it's mother..." He trailed off, still searching for said demon. What a joy to face another demon so soon. The Shadowhunter almost groaned, and it's a furious mother on top of that. They would be hard pressed to stay out of harm's way this time.
Ladon growled again and sniffed the air, Do you think it is wise to confront a demon who does not get affected by sunlight? He asked his rider. Silver simply shrugged, "No demon can't get affected by sunlight, she just happens to have a high tolerance to it... Give it time and I'm sure you'll understand."
The magpie nodded. After this, I'm forcing you to let us take a very long break, and you won't be able to change my mind this time

| “A break sounds nice right about now,” Abraxas contributed to the rider and dragon conversation, seconds before her eyes locked on something that seemed to move. “Look! Is that it?!” Whatever it was she had seen might have been the demon, it might have been an illusion or it might have been something completely different. She couldn’t quite tell but after all, she was not the demon specialist in this trio.
Something was slithering through the shadows and it was bulky. Huge was no word for the enormous form and it was nothing in comparison to the demon they had only just encountered. It was dark, what a surprise for a demonic being, and it seemed to have things protruding from its form here and there, horns maybe?
“I can smell your fear,” the demon chuckled in delight. “Be aware though, this is only the beginning! You cannot even begin to fathom my strength and my abilities, and once you do, it shall be too late!” Another fit of laughter shook the demon and it sounded more psychotic by the second. Abraxas shot a frightened look at the other two. “Am I just dreaming? I’m waking up soon, right?!” She was scared out of her wits by this being and it seemed as though the demon was not the only thing flitting about in the shadows. The horse dragon was not even sure if it could fly or not, but what worried her most was that Silver wanted to play for time, which in other words meant that first of all, they were indeed going to fight, and second of all, it was not going to be over quickly. Neither of those things sounded good in Abraxas’ ears.

| Silver was shaking, he could not hold on any longer, another couple of seconds and he'd reach his limit. Ladon looked at his rider questioningly, what was the matter with his rider? Surely he was not scared... or was he?
The Shadowhunter took a deep breath, trying to get control over his emotions once again, but to no avail. He burst out laughing. Ladon blinked, was his rider laughing hysterically? Well... That sure as hell more scary than any demon the ever faced or ever will.
Silver started gasping for breath, "A demon's mother looking for revenge!" He doubled over and began to laugh again. "Who would've thought, this must be the first time this has ever happened! Because I've never heard about this"
The magpie growled at the laughing Shadowhunter, Shut up or you would get us all killed! He scolded.

| Abraxas' ears flipped back and forth as the shadowhunter began fidgeting and making weird sounds all of a sudden. Desperately trying to keep an eye on the spot where she thought the demon mother was sitting, she shifted her position a little so she could look at Silver. She could neither believe her ears nor her eyes when she saw the man shaking with laughter, having the hardest time to even stay on his feet but unable to stifle the outburst.
Ladon might be pissed about his behaviour but there was just something about the laughter that got to the horse dragon and she almost would have started laughing with Silver, if she had not been so very scared and if the demon had not decided to speak up at just that moment when Ladon hissed at his rider.
"You unruly wannabe, I will show you what the punishment is for laughing at me!" The angry tone made a shiver run down Abraxas' spine and she immediately forgot about Silver laughing again. The demon sounded like it was going to be serious now. However, the horse dragon could not get Silver's words out of her mind about a demon mother wanting revenge. It did sound terribly tacky and almost impossible. Did demons really care that much?
"I am going to show you that I am not to be messed with, and neither are any of my children or other family members! You will pay for your blasphemy!"

| A dark mass angled a little to the left, fanning his wings a little to slow his flight. Something told him that this was the right place to land, he cold see four figures on the ground, a human with two dragons, and... was that a demon? He growled low in his throat, a meal and some entertainment too!
He circled twice before closing his wings tight against his body, only to open them wide when he neared the ground. He gave a short hiss when he felt the air tugging at him a bit harsher than he expected, he closed his wings and landed next to the demon. It's been a long time since he had fun, he bared his fangs to his 'lunch' before roaring loudly.
A human, Magpie, and a Horse dragon? No, not entirely human... He sniffed the air again, A Shadowhunter! I've heard you tasted better than normal humans, is that true? He then turned to the she-demon, Need help with them? You can take the dragons, just leave me the rider
--
Heads up hunter! Ladon growled to Silver, and that effectively made his rider shut up. The Shadowhunter took in the large dragon that was swooping down next to the demon, "That doesn't look too good..."
You don't say! Snapped Ladon, and then he began growling at the Lightning Storm, but his growls were easily lost in the roar that sounded from the larger dragon.

| Abraxas noticed the dark shadow – another one – coming closer only when it was almost at them already. With a frightened gasp, she opened her wings a little, readying herself to flee at any moment. This did not bode well for them, especially seeing that the shadow turned out to be a dragon and as soon as the first words passed the newcomer’s lips, she knew that he was not having the intention of helping them, rather on the contrary.
Ladon and Silver obviously were of the same opinion, though the shadowhunter still seemed to take things rather lightly. Sometimes the horse dragon had to wonder whether the two-legged was just that confident or whether he did not have the ability to be actually scared about anything.
No matter how much Ladon’s growls were undermined by the lightning storm’s roars, Abraxas joined in on the defensive roaring and growling, even though she was itching to turn and run.
The demon apparently did not quite know what to make of the newcomer either though she was not going to send anyone away who wanted to help her. However, there was the small matter of the shadowhunter. “No,” she replied with an angry glare at the lightning storm, “the rider is mine. He killed my baby! He is going to pay for what he has done and nobody is taking that pleasure away from me, least of all a puny little dragon such as yourself!”
An odd giggling wanted to escape Abraxas as she listened to the demon’s words and she had to remember Silver’s earlier out-burst when he could barely breathe anymore after hearing the mother demon’s first words. She had to get a grip on herself however. It would not do to start laughing now.

| The lightning storm glared at the two dragons and roared again, drowning their roars and growls, Quiet! Can you not see that I am talking? Where are your manners younglings?! He then turned to the demon, At least try not to poison him when you kill him, it would be harder to digest him, and might ruin the taste, don't you think? He grinned wickedly before turning his attention back to the smaller dragons and the Shadowhunter. This will surely be lots of fun.
--
Ladon bristled, how dare the sorry excuse of a dragon call him a youngling?! Silver, tell me you have a plan, otherwise, I wouldn't wait for one! He roared again, Just who does he think he is?! Silver looked at Ladon from the corner of his eyes, "Calm down, you know it wouldn't do to engage in a fight without you controlling your emotions, as for the plan... I say we get rid of the demon, then scare off the lightning storm, how does that sound?" He then turned to Abraxas, "Whatever you do, stay away from that demon, it's stronger that what we encountered before if it can withstand sunlight for long... This won't be pretty" He mumbled the last part to himself

| The demon growled at the lightning storm, wondering where the beast had suddenly come from and why it was so willing to ally itself with her, but she was not going to refuse the help. She might be powerful, but these were demon-hunters and –slayers. Especially that two-legged one was going to be a righteous pain in the behind. “Fine, I shall try to do my best, but I cannot promise anything. My motherly rage might get the better of me and I might simply grind him to dust after all. You can eat the dragons if you’re so hungry.”
Abraxas felt like Ladon, ready to jump that cocky lightning storm’s throat and rip it apart. Who did that dragon think he was? She had heard of evil ones amongst the dragon species as well obviously but she hadn’t thought that any of them would deign to lower themselves to a demon’s level. And to call them younglings... It wasn’t as though the horse dragon was all that old but she did not like being called a baby, if only between the lines.
Nodding to Silver, she tried to remember what he said but the laughter had died in her throat and the emotion had been replaced by sheer rage. The shadowhunter was right however, they needed to do this the intelligent and thought-through way. Of course, she was still hoping at some level that the demon would simply start dissolving in the sunlight because it was starting to be all too much, even for a being of its apparent power.
She had not been planning on going after the demon however as long as it was not completely necessary. She knew she was a hazard rather than a help when it came to demon slaying and she would gladly let the others go first – not because she wanted to protect her own hide but because she knew she had no clue and would only make it all the harder for the others. But with that lightning storm however, matters were slightly different. A dragon she might be able to handle.

| The lightning storm growled, but didn't object on what the she-demon had to say. Shall I? He questioned. This is going to be lots of fun indeed, and once he gets rid of the magpie, he would turn on the she-demon. He can't have her ruining his ultra rare meal. It's not every day he comes across a Shadowhunter!
-- Should we go for the Lightning Storm? Questioned Ladon, Or should I help you with the demon first then snap his neck? He growled. Silver leveled him with a glare. "Think you can distract the Lightning Storm for me? I'd like it if I don't become his lunch anytime soon… Just drive him away, but not too far off in case you needed help or vice versa." Ladon just nodded before letting loose a loud roar, and prepared himself to lead the other dragon away from his rider.

| Abraxas felt uneasy at the development of the events but there was hardly anything she could do about this rather than wait it out and hope for the best. The fight was imminent however, she could feel it in the air like a sickening breeze.
“Yes, you may,” the demon replied to the lightning storm, rather pleased that he so willingly accepted her proposal and did what she asked him to. That was how she preferred her minions. Mindlessly obedient – which was not quite the case with this dragon as he had tried to push through his own opinion, but it had worked out for her in the end and he was doing as he was ordered. This would be a feast! “I shall have my revenge on all of you!” she laughed in this almost typically evil fashion, which made the horse dragon raise a questioning eyebrow.
Somehow this she-demon seemed like a farce more than anything else, though that did of course not make her want to underestimate its power, especially since it was still standing, in plain daylight. As soon as Ladon let loose his roar, Abraxas followed suit. She figured it would be best to follow the magpie’s lead seeing as he knew best how his rider would handle the situation. He would know exactly when Silver would pounce and what needed to be done and when. “I’ll follow your lead,” she told Ladon, fixing her gaze on the lightning storm dragon. “Let’s get this party started,” she growled just as the mother demon roared in fury before launching her massive body into battle.

| The Lighting Storm grinned, showing his too-many-to-count sharp teeth. He spoke up with a menacing voice, knowing that abandoning the mind-touch was necessary in a battle. "Hear me well, Shadowhunter, Magpie and Horse dragons! I am Charon, messenger of Chaos. It is only your right to know the name of your death."
Spreading his wings wide, and standing on his hind legs in plans to frighten the horse dragon, he unleashed another bloodthirsty roar that shook the earth beneath them before pouncing on the dragons.
-- Ladon stood up in front of Abraxas, growling low in his throat. Just who the hell does that cocky dragon think he is?! As a combat expert dragon, Ladon knew that size did not matter when it came down to skills. And him being usually the smallest dragon in most combats, he knows that his size helps him move much faster than the others, putting that to his advantage.
When the lightning storm jumped, Ladon jumped too, instructing Abraxas to try sneaking up on Charon from behind in a quiet voice before doing so. Charon huh? I'll rip his face to shreds!
--
Silver looked with amusement at the she-demon, before disappearing and reappearing behind her. "Shall we move to a quieter place? You being a mommy and all, I'm sure you appreciate the quiet" His voice shook, trying to contain his laughter.

| At the lightning storm dragon’s words, Abraxas almost laughed. He really did think he was quite the deal, did he not. However, the horse dragon did not want to dwell on his words for too long, focusing instead on what Ladon had instructed her to do. She was not experienced in battle and thus she was rather glad for any piece of advice he could give her.
Naturally, she knew by instinct how to fight for her life but she was not great on tactics, but maybe with this one, they would not need to many tactics since he was so over-confident and was apparently very certain of the fact that he would be able to defeat them both.
Of course, Abraxas was sure that he would be able to take her if he ever got the chance to focus on her. She might be agile and speedy but she did not have a lot of strength or defences and her ability to breathe fire was fairly normal. A lightning storm however... Shaking her head, she tried to turn herself invisible in the darkness the she-demon had produced – and luckily for them left behind, even though she was quickly following Silver, who was easily leading her away so they could separate her from this Charon – and darkness was just what Abraxas needed.
Her black fur blended in with the darkness only the specks of red and yellow sticking out but she hoped that it would be confusing enough for Charon to find her while he was focusing on the magpie dragon in front of him. So far, they had been lucky and Charon was not looking out for her. Cocky dragon is being cocky, she thought, quite pleased that he was so very certain about himself.
The she-demon on the other hand was losing herself in her rage and following Silver’s lead spectacularly well. She growled in anger when the shadowhunter reappeared behind her and immediately lashed out with her rather large tail but she followed him away from Charon without even thinking twice about it. All the while, she was yelling insult after insult at him and tried to snap and lash at him where she could. “Come here you little puny creature, I shall show you what it means to die!”

| Charon gave a terrible laugh, "Ooh, the magpie is worried about his little horse friend... Worried enough that he instructed her to hide. Hmmm... Now tell me tiny one, do you really think that you two would be able to defeat me? A battle hardened lightening storm? I smell your fear, and your uncertainty." He turned his head towards Abraxas, "Hiding does you no good, I can smell you quite well. So why don't you come out and play? I'm sure hiding is not really fun."
Charon grinned, before unleashing a jet of electrical blue flame directed at the ground near Abraxas' hooves.
-
Silver quickly sidestepped the slash aimed at his throat. "Your little baby boy got himself in trouble with us. I thought you raised him better, didn't you ever tell him not to go after innocents when Shadowhunters are around?" He was trying so hard not to laugh, the whole situation with the she-demon was comical.
At least by his words, he hoped to provoke her enough to the point that she'd make a reckless move so he can finish her off and go help the dragons with that nasty lightening storm.
-
Ladon was planning to take advantage of the lightening storm turning to look at Abraxas to lunge at him, but he was stopped dead in his tracks when Charon started to attack Abraxas first. Eyes wide in disbelief, he froze up for a moment before roaring loudly and running at the larger dragon head on.

| The reckless move Silver was hoping for was coming quicker than he had probably expected as the demon launched herself at him without any more consideration of anything else. Her mind was fogged up by her fury about the insults this two-legged used against her son and she would not have it. She simply would not have it! She raised him well, it was he who did not know how to properly behave! ”Prepare for your death!!” she howled as she reared up in preparation to snap at Silver and crush him underneath her weight.
Abraxas froze in her steps as Charon suddenly called her out. The bastard was better at this than she had given him credit for. Big mistake! She should have learned by now that it was not a good idea to underestimate an opponent in a fight, and here she was, having done exactly that.
‘Well,’ she thought, ‘you may be able to smell me but I can see your lightning crackling through your body.’ Abraxas was not going to sit around playing the defenceless duck if the lightning storm decided to play tricks on them. She was going to return the favour in kind, and she was sure that Ladon would be playing a similar game as well. It was their luck that they both had dark coats.
Dancing out of the way as the lightning almost struck her hooves, the horse dragon’s eyes widened in shock as Ladon suddenly rushed Charon, seemingly without thinking about what he was doing. “You Fool!” she cried out, but her voice was hoarse and thus barely audible. However, she did not waste any more time in wondering what kind of bee had just stung her friend and raced for the lightning storm herself, coming at him from a different side than the magpie dragon. It seemed their best chance to try and defeat the lightning storm.

| Silver barely had the time to duck underneath the she-demon's tail before he was hit.
Tightening his grip on the heavy sword, he thrusted it upwards, trying to dismember said tail before she manages to do him in with one of the large spikes attached to it.
He narrowed his eyes when the sword simply just glanced off the hardened scales. He was beginning to form an idea about what kind of demon he's facing now, he cursed his luck, and hoped that his assumptions are wrong. After all, the easiest part to attack was the tail, and if it clearly survived the attack...
Cutting that train of thought and focusing once again on the she-demon, he yelled, " Aren't you curious about how I managed to kill your spoiled little boy? I've been hunting him down for a year and a half now and I finally managed to rid the world of him the other day!" Taking a few steps back, he continued, trying to provoke her even more.
"I cut off his claws first! One at a time, I even have them dangling in my house! I put an arrow through one of his sickly red eyes, and hacked up his wings, too bad they dissolved into ash, they would've made fine trophies." He grinned, "But do you know what I liked best? Cutting off his horns, that was my absolute favorite part, even better than his damned tail!" He ended the last part with a dark laugh that echoed around them.
He really did hope that his plan worked or otherwise this angry mother would rip him to shreds.

Charon snapped his tail in Abraxas' direction while fired a jet of blue flames at Ladon.
No one ever took him by surprise, no one! And and he won't allow this to be the first. Swiping at the Magpie with his razor sharp claws, he roared.
-
Ladon managed to sidestep the flames, but with the time it took his eyes to adjust after the brightness of the flames, he could not avoid the Lightning Storm's claws.
Letting out a muffled grunt when the claws slashed down his side, he quickly dropped to the ground and rolled away from Charon's reach to avoid having these nasty claws sinking into him.
Apparently that cocky dragon knows what he's doing. He'll give him that.

| Abraxas instantly put an abrupt ending to her attack when Charon’s tail came lashing at her, but it was only a tail, even if it was that of a lightning storm dragon. She would not let herself be bested by this arrogant excuse for a dragon. Fuelled by her fury as she heard plaintive noises coming from Ladon, he horse dragon threw herself into Charon’s side, ignoring any electrical shocks she might or might not get. She didn’t remember how lightning storms fought, thus she would just have to improvise and make the best of it. There were two of them and only one of him. They had to prevail, had they not?
The horse dragon tried to bite at anything that came into her path as long as it was a part of Charon’s body. Even if she didn’t do a lot of damage, she would hopefully at least annoy him enough so that he would leave off of Ladon. Her claws were trying to find purchase somewhere in his side or in his legs but there was no telling how lucky she would be in actually causing more than just a scratch; his scales really were rather hard.
The she-demon was in fits of rage at Silver’s description of how he had tracked and killed her beloved son. She so dearly wanted to avenge him but she wanted it to be slow and painful, yet she was unable to control her anger very well anymore. If she should manage to let her claws dig into his flesh, she would rip into him like a starving wolf.
Screaming and yelling bloody murder at Silver, the she-demon paid less and less attention to what the man was actually doing and in her blind rage only wanted to draw blood. Lots and lots of blood.

| Charon hissed furiously when the horse dragon's claws embedded themselves in his hind leg. His scales might be tough and strong, but she was damaging what he spent hours grooming, and that made him see red. He opened his wings wide then, giving them a couple of strong beats that helped separate him from Abraxas. "Do you really think the two of you could outdo me?" He said, voice carrying out in the stillness surrounding them. "You're lucky I like to play with my food, otherwise you would've already been dead by now." His head swiveled until he was looking down at the magpie dragon, and he bared his teeth at him in a silent snarl. "Get up you sorry excuse of a dragon. I'm still not done with you."
--
When Silver saw his opening, he didn't hesitate for even a second, instead he whirled to the right when the she-demon rushed at him straight on and swung his sword with everything he had, feeling a sense of satisfaction when the blade cut through the thick hide. He pulled back then, not wanting to risk getting his hit when she lashed back.

| “So much talk, so little action,” Abraxas growled as she scrambled away from the lightning storm, not wanting to feel the sting of his wings. He was clearly angry, but for all his trash-talking, he wasn’t much doing, though it was definitely better that way. She had apparently wounded him, if only his pride, by scratching him, but she much preferred it that way than the other way around. Bad enough he had already managed to hurt Ladon.
Putting herself between the lightning storm and the magpie, Abraxas braced herself for whatever attack Charon was going to launch. Maybe the cover of darkness was going to help them a little while longer, though if Ladon couldn’t move, even darkness wouldn’t help them much.
Taking advantage of the fact that Charon was too busy waving fancy words around than to actually attack, Abraxas hissed at Ladon: “Move, move. If only a few steps.” They needed to come up with a new plan, because as much as she’d like to think that the lightning storm wasn’t going to stay true to his word of killing them, she knew better than to let herself be fooled by her own hopeful thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
When the she-demon saw the man in front of her vanish, her momentum carried her past his hated frame before she could stop. It was at the same moment that she realised she had made a mistake. It was merely half a heart beat later that she felt the bite of his sword.
Screaming bloody murder, the she-demon whirled around but knew that by now she wouldn’t be able to do much damage anymore. The shadowhunter had struck true and she could feel the blood gushing out in larger and larger amounts. Nevertheless, she wouldn’t be who she was, she wouldn’t be an avenging mother if she didn’t at least try to hurt this man, and if it was with her dying breath! He would pay! He had to pay! So once again, she launched an attack at the arrogant, two-legged nuisance that had dared kill her son.
