| Romseril Tadari | Dragonslayer | Human |

You struggle to work out what it is the green-painted cart is selling as you approach it- part of the reason you're intrigued. The dark bay heavy horse attached to the front barely blinks at your approach, too concerned with its feed bag and scratches from her master, ears twitching in contentment.

As you step closer, you see the cart is full of bits and pieces in random assortment, although all derived in one form or another from dragons. In one corner a sack spills over with scales of every colour, from glossy blue-black of magpie dragons, to the huge matt cream of a ramshorn. Strung between two poles on one side are feathers from antler dragons; teeth and spines of hedgehogs; and a huge curving blade from a scythe claw sticks in the wood, vibrating gently in the wind. Two crates at one side have been propped open to reveal glass vials in neat rows, the cork stoppers concealing whatever might be inside. At the front of the cart, a huge wing- a spine dragon's?- lays stretched from one side to another, concealing more dragon treasures underneath.

"What is all this?" you ask as the owner straightens from his horse and joins you at the back of the cart, his strides long and easy.

"Haven't come across a dragon merchant before?" he says, sticking out his left hand for you to shake. It's an awkward wrong-handed grasp for you as his meaty paw encloses your hand in a warm, firm grip. "Name's Romseril Tedari. Most call me Rom though. And that there's Thistle." He points to his horse. "Rom's m'name, dragon hunting's m'game. Or, it is when I've got a few less wares to sell and a few more to procure." He gives a chuckle, leaning his back against the cart. It creaks under his weight.
As he crosses his arms in front of him, it's evident why his handshake wasn't right handed- a sleeve of armour isn't the friendliest introduction. When you look closer, you realise it's not a sleeve of armour at all- instead the metal plates are fused into his skin, no leather straps to be seen crossing his dark skin to hold it in place. Some freakish surge of magic that had turned flesh and metal into one, from fingers to shoulder. Past that he seems more normal- muscled to be sure under the brown tunic, but still warm skin and blood. His black dreadlocks are pulled into a low ponytail and beard neatly trimmed close, a few hints of grey beginning to show at his temples and creeping into his jawline. Introduced as a dragonslayer, you can believe it, although with more years in the trade behind him than in front.

The skin around his brown eyes crinkles as he smiles, glancing back towards his wares. "See anything you like? I've got a wife and two screaming mouths to feed back home."

You're startled out of your reverie by the rumble of his voice, and shake your head. No, not today.
"Well, I won't take up any more of your time. Thistle here's wanting to get to market in a couple of days for fresh apples." He rises and begins to dismantle his cart, collapsing the pop-up stall in moments and covering over his goods with another dragon wing cloth. "So long, friend."

| Anol | Musician | Wind Demon |

A soft hand on your arm makes you turn. You come face to face with a tall, lean demon, who's blue, catlike-slitted eyes travel down you and then back again, head tipping to one side. You noticed him earlier cutting a slimline figure through the crowd with his entrance, immediately drawn to his unusual appearance: the dark, kohl rimmed eyes and sparkling glittered cheeks, the blue streak running through his long brown hair, the way he immediately assessed the room, dismissed most of it, and navigated towards a table bearing a sturdy jug of strong alcohol.

"You are someone I haven't come across here before." His voice is soft and lilting, a slight accent to each clipped word. There is an elegance about him, like a cat about to pounce. "Welcome. I am Anol, legendary wind demon, and pleased to meet your hallowed acquaintance." He gives a slight bow at the waist, the clothes underneath his huge, concealing blue scarf jangling faintly with hidden trinkets. As he sweeps his hair back over his shoulder, you see his bronze coloured arm is loaded with silver bangles, similar to the ones above his bare feet. They glitter in the firelight.

"You must be new about here; I attend all of the best parties. And keep track of who else does, too." A faint smile graces his lips. "Well, if you are new to these circles, you are in for a treat, no? As you are meeting the most important windcaster there could be." This time there's a laugh from him- he certainly isn't modest about himself. "But I am sure of that you are quite aware."

As if he owns the place, suddenly Anol's interest in you is lost and he turns, throwing his arms open wide and letting his scarf flutter off his shoulders, the delicate fabric almost touching the ground before a wind suddenly stirs and sends it racing around the gathering, a hush falling over the assembled guests. He strikes a dazzling figure in the firelight, simple white trousers and sleeveless blue vest understated but effective with the jewellery that glitters against his bare skin. You see his fingers begin to work at the air, music slowly wafting through the air as he pushes and pulls at it with magic. You can see the concentration on his face as you step to one side, but he's still aware enough of those around him, those catlike eyes meeting yours again, just briefly. Then you are dismissed, his interest of you fled to the greater goal of his music.

| Eiydra "Rocky" | Patron | Red rock dragon |

A thud and roar break you from the reverie of your work, and you rush outside to see what dragon might be attacking. At the end of the street, children swarm around a red rock dragon, who towers over them as big as a house.

Not the children!

You lurch inside to grab your bow, but as you begin to knock it, a fellow villager stops you from raising it.
"Don't fear, it's only Rocky. She's tame."

Rogue's character thread Redroc10Pressing the villager for further information, you learn about this Rocky dragon. Some children had found her as a baby runt abandoned by mother and nestlings, and brought the little pup back to the village as a pet. She had turned into a bit of a patron dragon since then, although was a lot more dependent on human supplementary feeding than most of the other dragons around. But her tameness and ability to entertain the children work in her favour, as they didn't pester the more dangerous dragon types, merely waited for Rocky to appear again to entertain.

Rocky was a name apparently she wasn't fond of any more- she permitted the children to use it as they were pups that did not know any better, but Eyidra or Eyi was what she'd decided upon. You make sure to remember this as you approach the dragon.

She turns her head at your approach, letting the children score a point in their game of flickstick. Raucous noise fills the air as she lowers her head to greet you with a whuff of warm air.
We're playing, newcomer-with-curious-mind. Participate or save your questions for someone with time.

Evidently not interested in questions she's already heard many times before, instead you are left to observe her interactions with the children. She is obviously invested in the game and being part of this temporary flickstick community, but you see how she retreats each time the children cheer and celebrate together with clapping hands and victory laps. There's a melancholy in her that becomes more obvious with time, her demeanor becoming begrudging rather than brilliant glee. The children can tell as she retreats into herself that it is time for her to go. They shower her with loving wet kisses before letting her back away and turn to lope across the dust and up into the sky.

|Odary | Blacksmith | Human fire mage |

The blacksmith puts her hand to the neck of your horse even before you are aware the beast needs comforting, his ears flicking back only momentarily at the cart that rumbles past a few seconds later. The whole time you'd been waiting so far, she'd had an uncanny knack for knowing how your horse was about to react- a telling trait that betrayed how many years around the beasts she must have spent. And yet, her prices had seemed low, when she'd first quoted them- which surprises you now. You hadn't noticed a particular glut of farriers in Shayenne that would cause such a thing.

She strokes her hand down his neck, then returns to the work at hand, hammering the last nail into his hoof to hold a new shoe in place. Thick curls of black hair obscure her face and cascade over her bare shoulders; she pushes it back as she straightens and lowers your steed's hoof to the floor.
"Three down, just the last t'go now."

She's inspecting the last hoof against shoe as the next customer enters the open courtyard, a pair of heavy draft horses clomping after him.
"Odary! Got a pair of your favourites." He shook the reins at the smithy as she grins, putting aside the shoe for a moment.
"Still only paying visits f'free work eh, brother?" she jokes, and suddenly you can see the similarities between the two. The pale grey eyes, expressive eyebrows and short but strong stature. She leaps at her brother in a whole-body hug, her feet swinging off the floor as they greet one another, before she returns to her former concentration. "Well, you're gonna have to wait. This lovely lad's got odd socks."

Odary turns to your horse again and picks up the shoe in her tongs, then to the cooling fire pit behind her. You move to watch with awe as she breathes deeply, then the fire kindles brightly in the pit, turning from glowing red embers to a roaring flame within seconds.
Perhaps she wasn't popular for more than being a woman in a male-dominated line of work, you consider. Fire mages weren't everyone's cup of tea, with their magic easily made destructive.
She dunks the shoe and moulds it to shape, fitting it onto your gelding's hoof with the minimal of fuss. Then all of a sudden she's finished, and you're dropping coins into her hand. Without looking a gift horse at the hooves, you know that her work's worth far more than what you've paid.

| Danesu | Euphorn dragon |

Rogue's character thread EuphornM

You know that your prey is almost finished as you push through the thick fern undergrowth, the deer's trail obvious in the way it's crashed through the plants only moments before. Blood splatters mark a log where the deer missed a leap, then you spot the gasping body not far before you- a euphorn already at the sight of the kill.

You duck behind a tree, not willing to meet such a big dragon, with him readied for the kill and you breathless and hungry. The only sound that cuts through the air is the heavy, whistling breathing of the downed deer, white foam blowing from between it's lips.

The euphorn tucks his paws neatly beneath him as he sits, long tail curling around his feet once, twice, as he settles himself with not one feather out of place, long ears constantly engaged in flicking this way and that, jumpy as a mouse. His curiosity is palpable, but detached, in the way he looks at the deer- not as food, merely as a thing that has crossed his path.

He dips his nose to touch it's flank, where you've wounded the beast. A spark of healing magic flashes from the Euphorn to deer, there's a shriek and then the prey animal comes bounding past you at a rate of knots, side bleached white from magic, but otherwise untouched.

You turn back towards the Euphorn, curious to see what he is going to do next, and your heart almost leaps out of your mouth. Suddenly he's before you, towering over your smaller stature, red eyes boring down into you. The intensity in his gaze is immeasurable, a blanket of fierce observation. Each feather and scale is perfect in place, body alert where he sits, almost as if he had been there the whole time, having magically moved himself from one spot to another.

Your back presses against a tree behind you, where you'd been unconsciously backing away from the Euphorn. Your concentration interrupted, your eye contact breaks for a mere moment- but enough for the Euphorn to speed away with hardly a rustle of leaves, bounding into the undergrowth and away in a blur of red and black.
