{Gysoran} Riverside funtimes {And Katz}

Setting: A grassy sort of hill, with a river at the bottom. Off to the south there are a few trees, not a big forest though. There is probably a small town somewhere nearby, but I don't think any major cities. These details are very flexible, if you want to change anything just write it in :3
Any plot ideas then just throw them in too.
Time: afternoon, weather: bright but cool, just for reference ^^

Jidúkralém, a proud and normally rather fastidious dragon, left clawed footprints behind him in small patches of uncovered soil. Though he scowled whenever his feet felt the dirt beneath him, he reasoned to himself that at least it wasn’t his wings or tail. His tail he held aloft, but not so high that it brushed against leaves and branches.

Although he was not a very large dragon, calling Jidú small would be about the same as calling a willow miniscule when compared to a redwood. He was around the height of a human male, but his feathered body was much longer and slightly wider.

Before long, he was at a river just at the base of a hill. The lifeblood carefully swished the bottoms of his feet at the surface, one at a time, and shook them dry over the same area. Still, he balanced himself on his back legs, unsure if his front feet were dry enough to touch the grass without just getting dirty again. He blew on them a few times to hurry up the drying process, but that really only helped marginally. So he waited.

Raffietti had been out fishing that morning, and was sat enjoying her catch in the sun when she noticed more ripples coming down the calm river than usual. She was as curious as they came, and simply had to go and see what was causing them. Finishing her fish, she padded down to the river and stepped into the water. When she arrived further upstream she had river mud up to her knees and was sopping wet, her feathery-fur trailing through the water.

The dragon stood on the riverbank ahead looked strangely familiar… until Raffietti realised he must just be another lifeblood. How exciting – she’d never met another lifeblood before. “Hey, you there!” she beamed, bounding through the water and spraying droplets to either side, “How do you do?” She slowed down and stepped onto the bank near the other dragon, letting the dirt on the riverbank cling to her wet feet happily. She rather liked mud, which was probably why she spent so much time by the river.

“My name’s Raffietti, what’s yours? She asked, shaking herself off. The other dragon looked younger than her, so she wasn't too concerned about acting like a ‘proper grown up’ just yet.

Jidú’s jaw dropped in horror at the sight of the muck covering her legs and feet and claws. His eyes reflected the disgust he felt, and he took a good four steps back on his hind legs, still not ready to set the front feet down. He only shut his maw when he realized he was about to drool a bit.

Panting from the shock, he held his two clean feet to his chest protectively. As though he had not heard her two questions, he commanded in a slow and strained voice, “Don’t… touch me…” His tail was pressed against the grass of the hill behind him because there was truly nowhere else to go. The younger lifeblood looked on the verge of hyperventilation.

“Wash yourself. Please, please, please, wash yourself!” Everything about her, from her careless gait to her muddy gut caused huge discomfort in his belly. “It’s not you,” he lied, “It’s that… that gunk hanging from your feathers.”

“Thank you,” Jidú said, breathing out a sigh of relief. He was going to explain his actions, but his thoughts were interrupted by her asking his name. So he answered, “Jidúkralém. But it’s a mouthful, so call me Jidú instead.” He smiled for the first time since meeting her, though it was mostly out of politeness.

The young dragon sneezed lightly as the weather messed with his nose. He wasn't used to being questioned so quickly, so he had to pause for a bit to gather his thoughts. “I needed some fresh air and sun, so I came out here.” He shook a paw out and added softly, “Though I don’t much like all the mud near the water…”

When the conversation stalled for a bit, he took the opportunity to examine the feathers on his tail and then wings. Thankfully, everything appeared to be in order.

“So how about you?” he asked. “What is your name and why are you here?” Now he made eye contact, sufficiently reassured of his cleanliness. He carefully rested his tail over his paws, preparing to be at the river for a while.

Jidú nodded, used to everyone using his nickname by now. “That’s fine.” He had to hold back a smile at her “cleaning” herself. “Raffi, then,” he said. “Nice name…”

It was hardly four seconds before Raffi spoke again. He was starting to relax a bit and had even allowed himself to rest his tail upon the grass. “I don’t see why not. It’s a nice enough day.”

He glanced about to see what there might be to explore, but it just seemed like trees upon trees upon dirt to him. Of course, he had to assume that this other dragon knew more about the area than he did, and she must know of good places to “sniff around in,” so to speak. He stood and took a drink from the river and shook off then groomed himself somewhat less thoroughly than usual, clearly more out of habit than an actually need to fix his feathers.

When he stretched himself out afterwards, it was more in the way of a dog than a cat; he focused on one limb at a time and didn’t bother quite as much with smaller joints. “I’m ready,” he informed her, his legs positioned to walk more or less wherever.
