Back in the forest again. It seemed to be a place that Static was spending a lot of time in, one way or another. She trekked wearily along under the trees, as she had been doing for long days now. A brown woollen cloak hung over her green shirt and trousers, her clothes blending in with the forest around her. She might almost be mistaken for someone who lived full-time in the forest, if not for the fact that she seemed so wary of the trees around her. A long two-handed sword was strapped underneath her cloak, so in some ways, she needn’t have been so careful, but she knew that there were things out in the wild that could easily overcome her if she wasn’t- a closer look at her and that was obvious, from the thin scars that marked one side of her face. That had been a dragon. And smaller round white scars, a different dragon. Her short chopped hair- why, that was her own handiwork, when she had gotten annoyed with the tangles it had become after a battle a few months before.

She came to a sudden halt in the middle of the trees, looking this way and that before swearing lightly under her breath. Trust being wrapped up in her thoughts to get her lost! She scowled and dug in the pocket of her cloak for a map, turning it this way and that to try and get a bearing on where she was, but there was nothing around to get a bearing from. Unless you counted trees as a bearing. Giving a heavy sigh, she tucked it back into her pocket and walked over to the nearest tree, eyeing the branches above her with a careful eye before she reached up and pulled herself into the tree, climbing the first few branches with ease. She reached up for the next branch, confident the one beneath her was strong enough to hold her weight- but she was wrong. There was an ominous crack, then it snapped beneath her, sending her toppling towards the ground. She couldn’t help it- she screamed, her cloak catching on the branches around her. Flinging out one arm she managed to wedge it (somehow) into a fork, her shoulder wrenching as she hung upsidedown out of the tree, not daring to move in case she fell further and broke something.

Flowing through the forest, as silent as can be, is the elfish rider, Maethorion. He swept over the leaves not a sound coming for his boots as he stepped on the leaves. If you wanted to find him, most of the time you would find him in the forest. He left his clan when he was young, not likeing having to work with the clan for his whole, immortal, life. He never found love, spending most of his time tracking and killing dragon slayers and murderers. For now he had nothing to do, so he walked through the forest.

He walked still his bow straped over his back By now he knows his way around teh forest, not ever being lost, but ending up helping others who are lost. As he walked he closed hsi eyes, taking in the sounds and smalls off the forest. The birds chirping, the wind blowing, the trees and grasses scent and, and a scream? Now that wasn't a normal sound in the forest, at al. So he set of at a run towards the sound as fast as his feetcould take him, which, was very fast. He still moved silently as he stepped on leaves and grass. He slowed to a stop under a tree and saw the sorce of the yell. Someone was stuck in the tree by her arm. He climbed up the tree, being lighter then most people, he could. he carefully wraps his arm around her then freed her arm. He then jumped down from the tree, landing safely on his feet. He set the person down and looked her over once. He then spoke," are you alright?"

Static’s stomach dropped in fear as she felt herself slowly starting to slide out of the tree, her fingers clutching at the branches around her. A thin stick snapped off in one hand and she jerked a few inches closer to the ground, crying out again. She felt her face growing hot as she hung upsidedown, switching between her two options- hang there and try and find a way to get back upright again, which meant more pain in her arm, or give in and fall, which might mean breaking something.

Thankfully, strangely, she was saved the choice by a person suddenly appearing at the foot of the tree she was stuck in, immediately climbing up to where she was. She suppressed her groan of embarrassment as he untangled her from the mess of twigs and branches that she had managed to net herself in, flinching as he pulled her arm free and took hold of her middle, her ears burning as he jumped clear. As soon as he had let her go she stumbled backwards, pressing her back against the tree. Her eyes flicked over the man, her face setting hard as she saw he wasn’t a human, but an elf. Oh great she thought, just what I need.

She winced as the bark behind her arm hurt, then gave up trying to ignore it and put her other hand on it, feeling to see if she had actually broken something. Keeping her eyes fixed on the elf in front of her, she asked in a husky voice, “Who are you?”

Meathorion studied the girl as she stumbled back, checking her over for injuries. For what his keen eyesight could tell there was only scratches from the branches. His eyes flicked up to her eyes as the recognizable expression went through her face and eyes. She relixed that he wasn't a human, but an elf. He stood there, his hands at his side, waiting for the women to calm down. She didn't answer his question, which was understandable, being resuced by a elk all the sudden and hanging upside down from a tree for who knows how long wouldn't be very fun.

He noticed as she winced and his eyes flicked down to the arm that was caught in the branches. He studied it quietly still, seeing if he could see any large wounds or broken bones. He couldn't. But that doesn't mean it couldn't have been undetected . More slowly this time his eyes went up to her face and he tilted his head slighjtly as she spoke. He took in the words, slowly, before he answered," I'm Meathorion." He bowed his head slightly, which no normal elf would do to a human, but after all he wasn't a normal elf. Having left his clan he left and forgot most of the elven ways. He then spoke again, his eyes going back down to her arm," Is your arm broken? and may i ask. Who are you?" He looked up again, still keeping a respectable distance.

The elf’s unwavering stare put Static off slightly and she wished there was something else that would draw his attention- or some way she could escape it. Her general lack of companionship made it awkward for her whenever she did come across another person, and it was certainly showing now as all he did was take an interest in her. Her sword pressed into her back in a long line, which would have been reassuring if her arm didn’t hurt like bloody anything. She massaged up to her shoulder, flexing her fingers to see if anything was broken. They tingled, but at least she could move them.

“No, it’s not broken.” She tried to roll her shoulder to release it, but that did make it hurt. “I think I wrenched it though.” she admitted, scrunching up her cheeks and noting the slight bow. Strange, for such a proud-looking elf. She hesitated on his second question, reluctant to give away any information about herself, but he had just rescued her from what could have been a long and painful fall…
“People call me Static.” She quickly tried to move away from herself, adding, “Why are you out in the forest? Are there more of you?” Tipping her chin up, she sent a challenging stare his way.

The elf watched her still, noticeing he was bothering her by his watching her, but he didn't pay much attention to it. His eyes followed her movements as she rubbed her arm up to the shoulder, then his eyes flicked down down to her fingers as she moved them. He nodded slightly when she claimed it wasn't broken. When she said it was wrenched he nodded again, though staying quiet still as the wind blows his hair a bit. He closed his eyes as the air brushed over his body, taking a deep breath, taking in the smells of the forest. A light smile played at Meathorion's lips as he smelled the air, the clean and pure forest air.

Slowly he tore himself away from the world of the forest once he heard the lady talk. He finally opened his eyes looking at her. He sayed, with a new found happiness in his already flowing voice that has a acent that no other could match unless an elf, for it comes from learning the elven language," A pleasure to meet you." He inclined his head again towards her. He watched her again then laughed at her questions. His laughter sounding like music ringing throughout the trees. He said with a smile," The forest is my true home. Always. Doesn't matter where the forest is, its always my home. Now for your second question. I know not of that for i left my clan when i was young. Well young in elf standers." He matched her stare even more challenging, with bright, pirceing, blue eyes. He might bow his head to a human, but he will not give in to the one. Mostly challenging stares for if it was a challenge of his fighting status for he would surely win for being trained in the ways of the sword and bow for his whole, long, life and that training will never stop, for you coud always, always, get better at fighting. Being faster and stronger then any human ment he could deflect any blow, and break through even the hardest defence. Nor will he hide what he is among human for it would be a disgrace to all elven, clan and lone alike.

Static was slightly put off by the way the elf seemed completely at home in the forest, enjoying the soft breezes that wound their way beneath the canopy. This was a strange one, no doubt. Completely at home without a care for who saw him so happy- what was that like? She lightly wondered if it tied you down, being so close to a place, or whether it made you free, knowing you could always come back and it would always be there to comfort you… From her experience, not with places, more with people (well, one, but she wasn’t going to go into that), it was a bit of both. Sometimes at the same time- it really was confusing.

She scowled at Maethorion’s laugh, itching to fold her arms in a haughty manner, but was put off by the thought of making her arm ache even more than it did already. His answers put her even more on her guard, her scowl deepening. Normally she would have given up on pressing more direct answers and escaped to her own companionship again, but they were rather important, considering the fact she was stuck out in the forest with no idea of where she was.
“That’s hardly an answer. It may be your home, but that doesn’t tell me what you’re doing so far from any obvious settlement. You wouldn’t be out this way in the happening someone might have lost their balance climbing out of a tree.” She tried to hide her embarrassment at the recent event, but she felt a tell-tale heat across her cheeks that told her she was probably blushing like a girl. Oh, that just made it all the better. “And you may have left your clan, but that doesn’t mean you haven’t picked up another one in the years between.” She held his stare, wishing she wasn’t still blushing- it undermined any strength she tried to show like woodworm in a house.

Maethorion stayed still, taking no heed to the scowl upon Statics face. In fact, the scowl seemed to straighten his back, into an even more dignified manner with a new found strength in his stare. He could tell as she guarded herself more agaisnt him, noticeing the scowl deeping on her face, without breaking eye contact. He waited from what was sure to come after he spoke, for he gave no helpful information when he answered, not wanting to tell much of himself for he had grown use to secrecy and traveling alone. Though it didn't show in him for being alone for he still had plenty of geting use to companionship in his early part of his life.

A slight look of amusment filled his eyes slightly as she got red in the face while speaking, but then soon after she spoke, his own scowl soon tried to take over his peaceful and fair face. Though his face would still be fair with or without a scowl. His scowl entered his eyes, not upon his face for he kept it blank of all emotion. He said in a sharp voice not going to reveal why he does things," That. Is no need for a human to know or care about. I do my things. You do yours. I do not question you. May i state out that you are also out in the forest away from any settlement. And for another thing. I am in no clan and no other elves do i know of are in the area. Do not further question me about those two subjects because you will get no beter answer then I have given you now." His sharp voice never ended, staying there through the entire of his speaking, another signaling he wasn't liking the questions and he wouldn't answer more. He kept the stare still never breaking it or faltering with it. He then spoke again, with a slightly less sharp voice," Give up on the stare, Static. For it won't gain you any help in this conversation."

Static bristled slightly at Maethorion’s sharpened tone, but at least she was finally getting some proper answers off the elf. It had taken sharp words enough from her, so she wasn’t surprised to receive sharp words in return. In any case, it was relieving to hear that there weren’t any more elves in the area that he knew of, which made her feel a little safer- if he suddenly decided he wanted her out of “his forest” as he seemed to have styled it, then he would have to do it on his own, without the aid of others.
“Thank you.” Her words had a decidedly prickly edge to them, removing any real sense of gratitude to the elf. He might have got a little if he hadn’t been so coy with his words before, but after having to forcefully extract information from him, she wasn’t feeling in such a sociable mood (even if he had rescued her from a tree).

She dropped her stare as he picked up on it, blushing even more in her annoyance. She rubbed absentmindedly at her shoulder for a moment, then dug one hand in a pocket sown into the inside of her coat and pulled out a scrap of paper, waving it open with a flick of her wrist. She hated to ask, but she would be walking around in circles for hours, or possibly days, if she didn’t.
“Just point me in the right direction for somewhere relatively populated,” she gestured to the few villages marked inbetween the expanse of trees that marked most of the map, “and I’ll be out of your forest. Or even better, in the direction of some sort of work, treasure or monster hunting…” She didn’t really care what it was, as long as there was something to pass the time and, hopefully, earn a good cache of coins before the winter came past, when things started to get harder. Buried treasure was always a good thing to come across, even if it did require a lot of fruitless hunting- if it was old, then the stuff inside whatever treasure chest she found would be worth a heck of a lot more than it would have when it had first been buried.
