(any bright ideas are loved)

The hot sun was really starting to get to Eliza as she walked down yet another unfamiliar street. The wisp of a dragon following her seemed fine, despite the fact that she was almost entirely made from liquid, but Eliza wasn’t pleased. “Can I help, Eliza?” the dragon (Oceianna) mumbled, scared to raise her voice. With a nod of consent, Eliza felt coldness rush into her from the little dragon’s healing touch, and decided that the dragon was useful enough to keep around. For now.

Oceianna sighed with relief as Eliza’s pain was lifted – it stung her mind like a barb when she hurt, even though she was an awful person. However, it was only a matter of time before she too began to dry up, and they would both nee to find water. Around here, you couldn’t get any sort of fresh water in a bar, since most of it was rife with Cholera, but that didn’t bother Eliza. What hey needed was a well, but as the maze of streets grew denser before them, the chances of seeing one were next to nothing.

The sight of a figure in the street ahead made Eliza stop in her tracks, and made Oceianna groan. “Eliza, please. Not now – you can wait until we find water to ki…ki…hurt anyone else.” She stammered, trying not to think about all the others that her cruel master had dispatched. Eliza shrugged, and walked past, but Oceianna knew it was still only a matter of time. She could only ray that whichever gods were listening would give them rain, and soon.

The shadowy figure looked around, trying to determine if any of these stupid humans would do to his little... Experiment.

From where he was perched on a bar's roof, he could see the whole street. An eyebrow rose in amusement as he saw a dragon.
... Is that a rider he's seeing? Things might get intrestig at last.

He hung his head low before jumping off the building. His features hidden underneath the hood, he entered the bar.

-=Let's just see how this will progress, I still have no ideas=-

Turning one last corner, the heat started to get to Oceianna too. “Eliza, ma’am? Please can we stop? There’s a bar near here, and they will have water around the back for the livestock.” She moaned, knowing that almost all taverns kept some sort of animals. As a creature of the water, she was well out of her comfort zone. Eliza thought for a moment. She couldn’t touch the water in plain sight, but behind a tavern wasn’t exactly plain. “Hmph, fine, but I hope you realise what trouble you put me to. I don’t know why I bother with you.” She spat at the dragon, which seemed to shrink back from her words, before turning into the bar nearby.

Once inside, she walked straight to the counter, pushing past a couple of customers. Oceianna followed, looking apologetic for her rude master. “Water. Bring me some, now.” Eliza demanded, slamming three copper coins onto the counter and glaring.

Achos looked sideways at the newcomer, and arched an eyebrow. He then looked at the dragon. Things would be rather interesting if he found an ally.

He took another sip of his drink, "What brings you here?" he mumbled quietly, so no one would hear but Eliza. He eyed the dragon with distaste, he never liked dragons. He hoped that someday, he would find a way to get rid of them all.

Eliza was caught off guard by his question, and took a while to answer, wording her reply carefully. “I am here because I needed a drink.” She said at last, glaring at Oceianna to keep quiet. The dragon looked terrified, but Eliza didn’t care. She hated the creature – she just knew that she had her uses every now and then. “I’m Eliza – Eliza Hawthorne, good sir. What may I call you?” she added, as politely as possible. Oceianna groaned, since the charm offensive was the first sign the Eliza was ‘hungry’, but didn’t say a word. There was something about the mutual hatred of her kind in the air that was almost tangible, and she wasn’t about to make that worse.

"I am Achos." He replied quietly. He too, glared at the dragon as it groaned. "Must be killing you dealing with her" He hissed the last part.

"If you don't mind me asking, are you looking for something in particular in this part of the land?" He signaled for two drinks and paid, offering one to Eliza, and sipping slowly from the other.

The least he can do is be polite to win her over

“Not especially, just a little adventure.” Eliza smiled, loosening up a little and gladly accepting the drink. The timid barmaid she had screamed at came over with a jug of water, and hurried away again. The water was cloudy and unpleasant, but Eliza brought the jug to her mouth and drank from it anyway. Once half of the jug was gone, she was in a much brighter mood, and sipped her own real drink happily. Then she gestured to Oceianna. “She’s a pain, but she has her uses. I often wonder why I bother with her, but she seems to tag along anyway.” She spat, feeling delight spread through her as the terrified creature shrank away. Oceianna may hate the pain of others, but Eliza revelled in it. It was her own personal high, and she would never give up an opportunity for more.

"Ah. Dragons are the worst creatures to ever roam the lands, but then again, they have some uses. Can't blame you for keeping her around. Never know when they become handy." Achos said with a shrug while pulling his hood down to cover his face some more.

"If you are looking for some adventure, you can join me. Although I don't guarantee your safety. Think about it. I'll find you." He stood up and took his leave.

His golden eyes shone in the bright sunlight.
This would be very interesting indeed.

Eliza did indeed think about it. Adventure sounded like a grand plan, and she could lure in someone while she was at it. There had to be a pool nearby to drown a victim, and once that was done she could finally feed…

She resisted the urge to pursue that thought, enticing though it was. She remembered the words ‘I’ll find you’, and decided she would stay at this particular bar that night. She would not be refused a room, she would never allow it, and within a handful of moments she had the keys to the little outbuilding behind the slowly filling bar. She told Oceianna to stay there while she chatted around inside the bar, window shopping for victims, and waited patiently for Achos’s return. She would retire once the sun had gone down, and the astral tides had drifted into fire, she decided. With that, she let the atmosphere og the bar absorb her – she needed practise after all…

Achos sat near a lake, cleaning his black sword which was stained with blood. The dim moonlight making his eyes glow while his body remained nothing but a shadow against the green grass.

He re-sheathed his sword and got up. The shadows curling around his form until it took a shape of a cloak.

Once again, he pulled the hood over his face and made his way back to the town. He smirked to himself, content by the smell of blood and death that mingled around him.

The filthy water may have helped Eliza recover, but she needed to find a real source of water nearby. After grabbing her last drink and finishing what was left, she slipped out of the bar and down one of the narrow streets. She could smell the crisp scent of water, and let her nose lead her down a few streets, keeping a check on where she’d gone so she could return. Oceianna must have felt the same, because after a few moments Eliza noticed her cowering behind her. “I thought I told you to stay behind the bar!” she hissed, glaring. Oceianna started to stammer an excuse. “I know, I know, Eliza, it’s just that, you know, you were going for some real water, and I thought that I might be able to come too.” She mumbled. Eliza would have raised her hand to the beast, but she didn’t have the energy. “Very well, but next time I won’t be so lenient.” She cautioned her voice sharp. Oceianna winced, but continued to follow, until Eliza stopped them with a hand signal. A hooded figure was making their way up the street, and Eliza was sure there couldn’t be two mysterious hooded figures making their way around town.

The sound of footsteps made Achos look up. He instantly spotted two figures making their way towards the lake, His eyes immediately lit up.

His eyes found the hilt of the sword that was tied to his belt. The shadows swirled around his form and his hood took on a solid form. He headed towards the two. Two more to kill is always a pleasure.

“Achos? Is that you?” Eliza called, smiling, not noticing any danger. Oceianna however, was more sensitive to such things. She jumped in front of Eliza and hissed – a bubbling sharp noise from the back of her watery throat. Eliza kicked her in the ribs, but Oceianna didn’t move. “Achos, it’s us, we know you.” She insisted, her voice still quiet and nervous, but somehow stronger than usual. She was worried – caught between one sylph that she already knew had evil on her mind, and someone who was giving off distinctively evil vibes them self. Eliza kicked her again, and this time she fell to the ground, her side burning, but hoping that she had done enough to warn Eliza. She may hate her, but she couldn’t stand any harm to come to her.

The Warlock blinked in surprise. " Eliza...?" He cautiously asked. " What are you doing here?" he mummered, hand dropping from the sword's handle.

He chuckled lightly, and let his cloak dissolve into the night, showing his face for the first time. " I thought you were someone else, I almost attacked." His voice hardened.

"You should be more careful. How about I join you?"

Oceianna smiled, knowing that she had succeeded in getting the point that they weren’t a threat into Achos’s head. Eliza simply laughed. “I was just going down to the lake – I needed some fresh air.” She lied. Drat! She thought, I can’t be seen disappearing into a lake by him, I’ll have to wait. Oceianna picked up on those thoughts, but hopefully Achos had not. Oceianna used a little of her magic to heal the bruise in her side, and discovered a broken rib as she did so. Once that was taken care of she picked herself up and cowered behind Eliza again. Eliza ignored her, and continued exchanging pleasantries with Achos.

Achos tried in vain to get rid of the stench of blood. But he knew that he wouldn't be able to do so in a presence of a dragon.

The shadows were calling out to him, begging to be used, but he held still. The warlock once again looked at the dragon, but continued to talk to Eliza. Although he heard the words she said to the dragon, his outer appearance didn't change, while he inwardly smiled. Luck must be on his side this time

While Eliza was deep in discussion, Oceianna was itching to get a feel of the water. She could see the shore of the lake from where she was standing, and while Eliza was talking she slid from behind her dress and ran down the street. Her footsteps were as silent as snowflakes, and she stayed in the shadows, but Eliza still saw her. Luckily, she didn’t care enough to chase her, so she ran right into the water. It greeted her like an old friend, and she let her watery form dissolve into the vastness of the lake, calm for just a few moments.

“You mentioned some adventure earlier, and I was intending to give you my reply. I would love to join you, but I’m afraid I’ll have to inflict the dragon on you as well. She always goes where she is not wanted.” Eliza said, itching to run to the lake herself, but holding her composition just enough to resist.

The Warlock nodded. " I figured as much. We shall leave tomorrow, first thing in the morning... If that suits you of course."

" I hope you don't get bothered by the smell of blood. It seems that it chose to follow me around." He gave a small smile, which looked purely evil in the moonlight.

He shot the lake a glare, knowing the dragon is in there. " I look forward to our little... Adventure." Achos said with a dangerously cold, low voice.

He took a few steps before allowing the shadows to solidify as his black cloak again. Not bothering if Eliza saw him. She would find out what is he eventually, why try to hide it?

Eliza sighed in relief as Achos walked away. He knew she was going to be in the bar the next day, but right then, she needed water. She waited for Achos to take a few steps, then bolted towards the lake. A small pier ran into it, and she dived from the end into the cool, deep water. The second it touched her, her skin rippled, before turning blue and mottled. Her fingers grew webbing, and her toes grew into marvellous flippers. The world took on a greenish blue tinge as her eyes changed, and her teeth grew sharp and deadly. This was her true form, the one that she felt most at home in, but she could never let anyone (save her victims in their last moments) see her like that. That would only complicate things.

She let herself enjoy the calming water for a long hour, before finally heaving herself onto the shore. As the water ran off her, she began to change back. Her skin paled and her hair brightened, and her feet shrank back to normal. At this point she started walking, letting her eyes dilate and change shape in their own time, and baring her fangs at one or two passers by before they too resumed a mire human shape. She headed for the bar, and settled down in the back building, with Oceianna following along behind; the pair of them leaving two damp paths down to the river.

The next day found Achos heading to the bar. When he got inside, he started looking for the dragon rider pair.

He couldn't wait to have some victim for his little experiment. If it fails or succeeds, it wouldn't make much difference to him, both ways, the victim would die a horrible death. He smirkd at the idea.

Spotting the pair wasn't hard in the almost empty bar. He glared venomously at Ocieanna before walking up to her rider.

"Are you ready to go? Or should we wait some more?"

“Yes, I’m ready.” Eliza said trustingly. She liked to seem like the vulnerable one – it made people less suspicious when she lead them to swim in deep waters – and since she had no reason to believe she couldn’t defend herself, she always acted as trustingly as she could. She finished the drink she had before her in one gulp and stood up. Oceianna grumbled – she was still exhausted from a night spent on land – but stood up to wait behind Eliza. When she stood straight, she was slightly taller, but since she was permanently cowering, she ended up around 5’5”. She wished Eliza would think more before doing things, but that never seemed to happen.

" Then let us not waste.more time." With that said, he walked out. If they wanted to tag along, the least they can do is keep up with him. After all, he's no fan of the sun.

-

Night found them near the woods. Strangely enough, they covered a long distance in a short while. Achos turned to regard the dragon rider pair, " Now if you'll excuae me, I'll go look for some firewood."

As he walked away, the shadows thickened around him until he was nothing but a mere shadow.

Eliza was a little puzzled by Achos’ strange behaviour when they made it to the woods. She had patiently followed, but the hot sun was bugging her. Now that night had fallen, the humid forest was calming, but she needed to swim. However, she also couldn’t risk it raining. If she transformed in front of Achos the gag would be up, and she would have to run. Well, until she could harvest him, then she would be quite safe, but that seemed difficult. She decided to turn on the charm offensive when he returned, and try to pull him in faster. That way there wouldn’t even be a risk.

Oceianna had followed reluctantly, not wanting to continue. She was terrified of Eliza, and Achos seemed even less friendly somehow. She was seriously concerned that between them they would dispose of her, and she would really rather have been back home in her pool. It was her pool, since she had lived there for longer that Eliza anyway, but she would never say so in front of her. She was too scared for that.

The Warlock appeared out of nowhere behind Eliza, dropping the firewood to the ground. He threw a disgusted glance at Oceianna before sniffing the air.

It was a dark night, with black clouds covering the moon, meaning that Achos' powers are much higher than a night where the moon casts its glow on the land, and much lower than a night in which the moon did not shine.

An elegant eyebrow rose up as he sniffed the air again, he looked at Eliza and smirked. " You're not human, are you?" He said with a chuckle.

The Warlock smiled cruelly, " Makes the two of us. "

Oceianna’s blood ran cold at Achos’ words. She was always terrified of what happened when people guessed Eliza’s secret, and she was now trapped between two non-humans who had no respect for her whatsoever. She quivered as she watched, flinching and cowering.

However, Eliza seemed much less concerned. “Well done, Achos. It’s true, I’m not entirely human, but I never would have guessed it about yourself. What are you then, because you look pretty darn human to Me.” she smiled, running her tongue over her teeth. She could feel them forming points, as if she was going to transform all over again, but she knew that she was too far away from water for that to be a threat. It was one more defence that she had never known Sylphs could develop, and she made a mental note to research it later.

As Oceianna quivered, Eliza threw her a sharp look, as well as a sharp, bare-footed kick. The miserable dragon was annoying her that day, and in front of Achos it was really quite embarrassing. Then, focusing her eye contact back on Achos, she studied him carefully as she waited for a response.
