The purpose of the Magic Lore
1) To create consistency and fairness in roleplay
2) To tell people about how Dragons' Cove relates to magic
3) To be used as a creative tool
Our magic lore is
not intended to tell you what to do and when. There are some limits imposed on the magic, but this is in the interest of creating variation between races and fairness for roleplayers.
There are no spells you need to know. There are no preset combinations of magics. There is no skill-tree, no limit on your number of magical characters, and no rigidity with how you want to apply the magic they are able to use.
As such: Feel free to invent your own spells and rituals. Let your characters learn magic whenever you like. Use magic in characters as often as you want (and as often as they can handle), and let them do with it everything from cooking dinner to drowning enemies. Or have them do nothing at all, or even shun magic; the choice is all yours.
The main objective is to keep in line with the few laws of magic you will find in these guides.
If you have already read these guides, you might find it useful to refer to the
Magic Summary thread which has a list of all the main rules in each guide. Once you understand what they mean, you'll need nothing else to continue with your beautiful and magical roleplays.
