The desert was surprisingly to his liking. Unlike what he had thought, the heat was not quite as unbearable and after the freezing cold of the ice plains, it was feeling like a blessing upon his scales. Whatever had ridden Xaoc to venture into the ice plains, he wasn’t quite sure himself anymore, but he was fairly certain however it had involved chasing some dragon or other. The bastard had however disappeared into the ice, blending in with the colour of his scales and the extreme cold had played tricks on Xaoc’s senses. Some day, he would win though. Some day, he would best those forsaken ice plains and find prey even in its iciness.

For now, he was glad to be back in fairly known territory. The bloodred runes scattered all over his body were pulsing gently in the sunlight as if they too were enjoying the heat and replenishing themselves.

Not too far off, Xaoc could make out a sort of structure erected amid the masses of sand. There seemed to be no living creature amongst the mostly ruined building, which really was a shame, because he could use a little snack. However, his interest was piqued and he immediately flew towards it, wanting to inspect it a little closely. As much as he liked wrecking havoc, he was a curious little fellow, too.

She was bored. So. Damn. Bored. By all of the bloody blasted gods, there was nothing in all of creation to do out here in the desert! The mountains had been briefly entertaining. Creating a rockslide that had demolished a camp of unsuspecting adventurers had served for a good half hour of fun. Then she'd dug up the bodies and eaten them, and that had been breakfast, and then she was bored again. Yveni was listlessly flying in circles over the desert, riding the currents of the hot air and generally just going wherever the wind took her without any specific goal in mind. It was fairly barren up here in the northern desert however, and after hours of simply gliding with nothing else to do, Yveni was convinced that south-bound would simply have to be more exciting than this nonsense she was dealing with now. With a casual flick of her wings she started south, meandering over the desert dunes.

She saw the temple long before she got to it. From so high in the air and with the skies so clear she could see for just about ever. Maybe a nap would tide over her boredom for a while before she continued on past the volcanic mountains and into greener territory. The desert was a lovely warm place, but it's arid nature discouraged most other creatures from prancing about the dunes in the middle of the day. Tch. Weaklings.

Just as she was about to start descending on the small structure to take shelter under it from the brightness of the sun, she saw a black something on the horizon. The little black dot was heading straight for the structure as well and she hesitated, pulling up high to get a better look. It was… a dragon?! Her day suddenly got infinitely better. Dragons were exciting things to terrorize, and she hadn't had a decent amount of terror all day! Suddenly the blood was singing in her veins, the red runes of her wings pulsing with light at the thought of a little sport. With a fold of her wings Yveni went into a steep dive, slicing through the still desert air as she descended rapidly on the flying target, recognizing the patterns on the dragon's wings the closer she got. Another one of her kind! Doubly interesting! Sucking in a breath, she bellowed a challenging roar at the fellow dragon, extending her claws for the strike. This was definitely a good turn in the day.

As he got a little deeper into the desert, the heat was starting to grow from a comfortable warm to gradually unbearable and Xaoc was beginning to wonder whether this was really the direction he wanted to go into. However, he kept on his course, wanting to see what those structures were about. He had never been in these parts and as curious as he was about it, as much he was also looking forward to creating some sort of mischief. After all, the two went hand in hand, did they not?

When the Tribal Battleblood was a little closer to what seemed to be pillars in his eyes, he noticed a black something flying about them and he slowed his flight a little. It looked like a dragon almost. A black one. Immediately, his thoughts began spinning around his stomach and he wondered whether this dragon would be edible. He was still craving a small snack and here it was presenting itself almost on a silver platter!

His runes were suddenly pulsing stronger and he could feel the excitement rushing through him. Without even thinking about it, he picked up speed again and flew towards the other dragon with the full intention of ripping into its juicy flesh.
He heard the challenging roar of the other dragon – a female? – before he recognised the patterns of her scales and bellowed his acceptance of the challenge without the thought of this being another Tribal Battleblood even registering. Either way, this should be immense fun!

It wasn’t long before Xaoc reached his new-found opponent and crashed into her full speed, claws and teeth at the ready, his blood screaming for prey.

The answering declaration of war sent chills of delight down her spine, her scales raising in response. This would bound to be thrilling. Perhaps more thrilling than anything she'd done before! But there was no time to savor the moment, only time to act as the two huge dragons collided in midair with a thunderous clash of scales and beating wings. Yveni could have chortled with delight if she weren't too busy trying to get her jaws around this impetuous male's neck. The shock of the collision would have driven a lesser dragon out of the sky, and as she battered at his grasping claws for purchase under his scales, it became quickly apparent that neither of them was a 'lesser' dragon.

Yveni screeched in battle fury, snapping at the male dragon's neck whenever it came close enough and folded one of her wings grabbing for Xaoc's scales or claws or whatever she could get her talons to sink into to try and pull the raucous usurper into a spin.

Inexperienced as he still was, young Xaoc was a little taken aback by how well the female took the clash and contrary to what he had expected, wasn’t propelled away from him, flailing to regain her bearings, but rather immediately engaged in a fierce battle. He had thought he would simply crush this puny dragon in midair and be done with it. Of course, this way was much more excitement as well! Just what he needed!

He soon managed to get over his own surprise and without further ado started reciprocating the biting and clawing, enjoying this probably far too much, runes glowing and pulsing like mad as his blood began to boil with the heat of the battle. She was good. She was very good actually, but he was not going to let himself be beaten by a female!

Teeth and claws were desperately trying to grab hold onto something, anything on her body to cause as much pain as possible, and maybe even bring forth a trickle of this lovely red liquid he so adored. Shrieking in rage as one of her talons managed to slither its way under a scale in a particularly painful spot, Xaoc launched himself sidewise in an attempt to get away from the delinquent and bashing into her wing as he did so.

The scent of blood filled her nose when her claws finally managed to pierce something that would bleed, her own runes pulsed with sheer delight, fiercely batting away at the claws that tried to rend her open, enjoying the pure physical exertions of the battle. One of his claws ripped a long gash open on her forearm. Not deep enough to be serious, but it certainly hurt. The pain was exquisite, and Yveni shrieked with delight and agony. The male dragon's sudden lurch to the side disengaged her claws from their grappling, unable to do much more than go along for the ride when her wing collapsed under the weight of his charge.

She folded her wings tightly to her body, dropping in a sudden plummet then snapped her wings out, spinning to regain altitude and with a roar and a few powerful strokes of her wings started regaining the height she'd lost. Colliding with the ground with the male on top was not going to be the way she got her delight from this fight, not if she wanted his blood to join the drips that fell from her claws from the ragged gash on her foreleg. The scent of her own blood drew that darkness forward more than anything else could. Yveni drew back her head, her chest swelling with breath and shot a stream of fire at the male dragon, all of her rage and desire for the creature to die a horrible death behind the blast.

Entangled with the female, Xaoc plummeted downwards with her before she snapped her wings open and made them spin slightly. To any onlookers it would have seemed as though they were intimately dancing through the sky in beautiful coordinated manoeuvres.
At the same time as she lifted herself back up, Xaoc eagled himself slightly away from the other Tribal Battleblood in order to reposition himself for a better means of attack. It was a close call however as the ground had come dangerously close during the fall and Xaoc had to strain his wings to swerve away from a crash.

While he was still labouring to get a better angle for attack and gain some altitude, the female’s jet of flames hit him almost full-on. Xaoc roared in pain as the flames licked at his scales, singing him in more places than he could count. Desperately, he tried to keep his wings out of the fire, not wanting to risk losing his flying ability. Diving down and to the right once more, the Tribal Battleblood did his best to get out of the flames’ path as quickly as possible before returning the favour. Barely having turned to fly upwards again, Xaoc tried to roast the female himself, ignoring the pain that was coursing up and down his chest where he could still feel the impact of her flames.

The fight had taken them lower and lower to the ground, and while Yveni was temporarily satisfied to see her opponent wing through her stream of flames, she was not excited to have him return the favor in kind. With an ear-piercing screech she dove to try and avoid the worst of it, the hot fire being spit her way scorching the vulnerable undersides of her wings. In a desperate bid to minimize the damage she dove out of the flames and half crashed, half landed on the stone structure that the male dragon had been resting under before their fight had begun. Her talons dug into the stone, an ominous crack sounding from deep within the building from her collision with the ancient temple. Her runes pulsed angry red and Yveni took the stinging pain of her wings in, absorbing the hurt so that it fueled her rage, the sweet ecstasy of fury coursing through her veins. Coiling her muscles, the tribal battle blood launched off the top of the temple in a battle rage leaving long talon-shaped rents in the stone and another shattering crack when her weight heaved against it. She was going to rip him apart. Piece. By. Piece.

Xaoc had been momentarily distracted by the ominous creaking of the ruins, wondering how long they were going to last under the impact of a Tribal Battleblood smashing into them before they would completely give and crumble into a heap of stones. This distraction however cost him dearly. He had completely forgotten to pay attention to the female and before he could check what her next plan of attack would be, he was thrown backwards by the impact of her crashing into him once more.

Roaring in pain as one of her claws made contact with the far too tender tissue of his wings, Xaoc went into a blind rage. Furiously scratching and biting at her, Xaoc did not pay attention to what exactly it was he was doing. Pain and hatred were fueling his actions and he threw himself into the fight with practically all that he had. He forgot about his wounds and only used the suffering they caused to keep him going. His wing membrane was pulsing in tone with the blood runes on his body, but he didn’t want to know what had happened to it. Not now. He would only inspect his wing once this little worthless piece of dragon was destroyed. Completely and utterly.

And very closely below the two dragons, the scratches and cracks created by the female dragon’s impact and her claws were slowly continuing along the structure, wiggling their way deeper into the stone work, making the building sway a little more with every passing second.

The male dragon's answering struggles to her vicious advance sent trembles of delight through her body, reveling in the desperate mindless rage that he'd fallen into. She could follow him into that place, that darkness that slept close to the surface and woke when a Battle Blood's ire was up. Yveni battered at Xaoc, using her wings and teeth and claws, his own vicious retort tearing at her scales until she bled from any number of little wounds and the coppery tang of blood filled the air. Despite the pain she enjoyed every second of it. This was why she didn't allow herself to fall into the haze of battle lust, to enjoy the tearing and snapping and rending that a fight brought. She screeched and grabbed for the male's talons, the two dragons hovering dangerously close to the ground again and she intended to finish their fall by thrusting this little pest down against the unforgiving earth so that she could rend him wide open. Slice his scales and ravish his corpse and cover herself in his blood.

Unnoticed by her, the temple that she'd landed on began to crumble where it stood, the focal point of the spidery cracks that had originated with her hard landing falling inwards with a loud crash of stone on stone, sending up little clouds of sand and dust when the heavy roof caved inwards.

The exquisite scent of fresh blood permeated the taste of battle on Xaoc’s lips and the next slash the female landed upon him called forth a roar of pain and delight all at once. Never had he enjoyed a battle so much as with this dragon, who almost was his equal –but only almost of course-, and his mindless rage was slowly subsiding into a fierce joy. Returning the scratches, bites and bashes with renewed eagerness, Xaoc didn’t notice the building crash merely a handsbreadth away from them until all of a sudden the fighters were surrounded by a cloud of dust and sand, small pieces of debris floating around in it as well.

Hissing, Xaoc left off the fighting for a moment and pushed away from the female, eager to remove himself from the dustcloud. Unsure of what this new threat might be in his confused bloodlust, he grunted in annoyance as dust and sand settled in his wounds, making them sting horrendously. With grains in his eyes, the Tribal Battleblood dashed out of the cloud, only wanting to get rid of whatever it was obscuring his view so that he could get his bearings again and flew full force into another piece of the old building, which promptly began to crack and shake.

The male dragon furiously shook his head as he hung in the air, somewhat dazed, and ignored the sounds of breaking stone, turning around again to search the slowly dissipating cloud for the female. Where was she? This was most certainly her fault! He was going to finish her off now! No more game playing! She had distracted him enough with her tricks and illusions of sand.

The cloud of dust cloaked her black scales in a thin veil of grime, sticking to her blood and dulling the vibrant red glow from the runes on her scales. Such a trivial thing was hardly worth her notice however. She was more concentrated on trying to find the male who had gotten away from her in the brief confusion of the collapsing building. Yveni hovered in the cloud, the powerful strokes of her wings only serving to stir up more sand until she couldn't see anything through the dust. With an aggravated screech she pushed at the air and lifted herself, working hard to lift herself above the annoying stinging little bits of airborne dust. With a powerful thrust she rose above the cloud she had helped to create, trailing sand after herself and looked around for the male dragon, her every instinct begging for blood. When she spotted him a roar split the air, a challenge to the weak little male that dared to pretend he could face her on even footing.

The sand clinging loosely to her scales was ripped away when she dove after the male, the burns on the undersides of her wings stinging painfully with the effort of bearing her weight as she descended to meet him, uncaring that her angle of decent would probably put them both through one of the few remaining standing pillars. Destruction was more natural than breathing to her, and she could care less of the pain that she inflicted. The more the better, whether by her claws or by ambient damage from their surroundings, it didn't matter.

There!
Returning her challenge with a roar of his own, Xaoc beat his wings in powerful strokes to lift himself further up to meet her mid-air. He was going to gut her, he was! More and more sand came swirling his way again as she rushed towards him but he didn’t care. His eyes were completely focused on her and his wings were slowly lifting him towards her.
However, he didn’t manage to increase his speed enough to counter her weight when she came crashing into him. Instead, the force of the impact sent them both tumbling downwards again, smashing into a stand-alone pillar in the ruins. Xaoc roared as he felt as though his spine was wrapping itself around the pillar and he instinctively clenched his talons, no matter where they currently were flailing about, whether it was air or flesh or both, before the stone finally gave way and crumpled down into the sand in a sad heap, taking the dragon with him as he suddenly lost the support.

Growling, he barely managed to keep himself aloft and the strain caused the rip in his wing to increase a little, much to his annoyance. Snapping his teeth in direction of the female, he launched himself into an attack again, not ignoring the pain, but instead of letting it drag him down, he used it to fuel his fighting. This was what he lived for. Chaos, destruction and pain!

The snap of stone was a melody to her ears, the scrape of his claws against her scales the tantalizing undertones to the delicious destruction. In his desperation to keep her from snapping him fully in half around the pillar his flailing produced streams of hot blood. Yveni screeched in pain, thrusting forward and the last little bit of resistance that the pillar represented gave way under the combined dragon’s weights, leaving her overbalanced. With a flap of her wings she tried to regain her footing but couldn’t manage a solid hold before Xaoc came barreling into her. She was knocked fully sideways under the sudden assault, all fury and claws as she beat her wings against the inevitable outcome of her body hitting the sandy dunes. On her back, Yveni snapped her teeth and kicked out powerfully with her legs to get the male off of her and maneuver back into a more manageable position. She was not going down! Not like this! Not yet, when her thirst for blood had barely even begun to be whet.

Seeing the female plummet down into the sandy reaches of the desert, Xaoc went after her in hopes of doing some more damage to her, maybe even kill her? Though he already knew that it wasn't going to be so easy to kill her and the longer the fight endured, the more he began to think that he had finally found a sort of equal. Letting the sounds of battle lead him, the male dragon launched himself at her, intent on biting her, but instantly backpedaled when she kicked out with her legs. He only just managed to lift his head out of the way of the dangerous talons, feeling the hard touch of a sharpened tip slice open the underside of his jaw.

The rest of his body wasn't quite as lucky as he felt the impact of her force hit him and thus sending him off balance again. This close to the ground, the flapping of his wings raised one dust cloud after the other again, worsened by the fact that she was now rising from the ground again as well. It looked like a sort of stalemate as the two dragons were now both level and above ground again, dripping blood and all raging fury. Xaoc looked at her for a moment, murder glinting in his eyes. He was not going to be subdued by a female. Yet at the same time, he couldn't help but feel the excited shudder it produced in him. His runes were screaming for satisfaction, for blood and it overruled every other thought.

Roaring a new challenge, Xaoc threw himself back into the fray, going for the other Tribal Battleblood full-force, wings unfurled to their enormous length, talons outstretched, teeth bared. He would taste her flesh, there was no stopping him, and even if it cost him a fatal wound himself, he would have her.

She would take him, any time, anywhere, and she would obliterate him, string his entrails from the peaks of the ruins. The pulse of her vibrant red runes matched the thrumming of her heartbeat in her ears until all she could hear was the rush of blood and the insatiable hunger to spill it. She was cut in half a dozen places, scuffed from the battle with sand clinging to her wounds, but the sting of such minor injuries was so far below her level of awareness as to not even exist. Her legs were barely under her when the male launched forward and she replied with a screech of battle lust. The crash of his body against hers nearly collapsed her fragile hold on balance, but Yveni would not yield so easily. His teeth scissored through her scales, talons sinking deeply into muscles, but she she didn't retreat from the pain to disengage. Her head struck forward, teeth reaching for his neck and she pushed powerfully against his body with her hind legs, raising her front talons to grip the male and wrestle him into submission. Her wings were held aloft, steading her with her tail thrashing in rage, and put all of her weight into pushing back Xaoc.

The sand was beginning to grind uncomfortably but he ignored the sting, fully concentrating on the female instead. The female. His battle opponent. Her screech filled his ears and made his blood pump even harder, all the more so when she didn’t flinch away from his attack but on the contrary seemed to throw herself even harder into his talons.

The feel of her scales and flesh ripping underneath his claws was pure bliss! This was what he had been born to do. Rip into his enemies and tear them to shreds within the blink of an eye!
Only that this wasn’t done quite so quickly. Instead of giving in to him and submitting to his superior strength, she countered the attack almost instantly. The aggravating female was snapping at his neck, scraping along the scales, drawing blood as the movement of their wings made them bump into each other at regular intervals.

Feeling her weight push against him, he pushed back, fully aware of the fact that his talons were still embedded in her body. If she should somehow managed to unbalance him, she would go down with him. The knowledge that came with mutual doom, should that ever occur, sent another thrill of excitement rushing through his veins and Xaoc ignored her dangerous proximity to his probably most vulnerable spot and began snapping at her himself.

Her claws were ripping more and more into his underbelly but he ignored the pain, barely registering it as what it was. His entire focus was on overpowering her, biting her before she could bite him, and all the while ignoring the fact that she was shredding more and more wounds into him. Nothing but blind bloodlust was pushing him forwards. She needed to die!

The pitiful amount of blood coating her tongue from the wounds she inflicted on the male were not enough to satisfy her battle lust. No, not nearly enough. The disapproving growl in her throat was loud and filled with the primal rage that only her race could know and Yveni lunged forward, her teeth locking around the tough scales of her opponent's throat. His teeth gouged at her own scales, but she had what she wanted now and with a great flex of muscle tumbled sideways, throwing both of them to the ground. She could not escape his grip, but that's not what she was after. Yveni wanted his death, and would do so even with his claws digging into her like razors. She was dying slowly from the blood loss, her vision narrowing to a fine point that was completely occupied with the male she was hell bent on slaying. The notion consumed her thoughts completely, her movements becoming more sluggish as the pure adrenalin high began to take its toll. Everything beyond the dragon in front of her could simply not have existed as far as she was concerned, not even the dangerously teetering remains of the temple that they had smashed up, slowly crumbling into the sands as gravity and age took their toll on the damaged structures.

When he felt her teeth around her throat, Xaoc felt a surge of rage so powerful, it almost unbalanced him. How could she! He needed more of her blood, it was simply not enough like this. But they were both tiring and very on edge because most of their attempts at serious damage had seemed to remain rather futile, and Tribal Battlebloods weren’t typically known for their patience.

Suddenly, the ground came rushing up at them and Xaoc furiously beat his wings to keep aloft but she had pulled the manoeuvre too well and there was no way he could catch himself, even less so because he refused to let her go. Entangled in a heap, they crashed to the ground and continued to wrestle to gain the upper hand.

Xaoc ignored the pain shooting through his wings, ignored the fact that a downed dragon might just as well be considered a dead dragon. Only she mattered. The one with her teeth biting into his throat.
No amount of tearing and bending seemed to get her to loosen her jaw and Xaoc’s talons were starting to rip deeper and more vicious wounds as his frustration grew with the knowledge that if he did not get her to let go soon, he was going to die alongside her in the mass of sand.

Roaring in fury and pain, Xaoc realised it had been a mistake as the roar made his throat convulse and he could feel the blood running down along the inside of it. It would take much longer and he might bleed out as well. Uncharacteristically slow-moving, Xaoc tried to look at the other dragon as he flexed his talons in her insides. He wanted to feel her squirm, he wanted to see the knowledge of her death in her eyes.

He completely ignored the fact that he was just as close to the brink of death as she was. All he could feel was the thrill of prey having fallen to predator. She was almost dead. His feat!
