-------------------------------------------------

General Weaponry
The inhabitants of Dragons’ Cove are generally peaceful folk, however, there are a few that, for various reasons, require weaponry. The Elite Force are the major buyer of weaponry made, with nearly all Elites within their system owning some sort of offensive weapon. Of course, city guards are also fully equipped in many towns and cities, though no formal military exists.
A few citizens, especially those residing in Kaionar or Ironshas, own some form of weaponry.  Swords, knives and bows are the most common weapons available, including the crossbow, a weapon starting to be more widely recognised across the Isle. Standard longbows or shorter hunting bows are well designed and made, with many using them for hunting game. Swords are less refined due to Dragons’ Cove inclination towards peace.
Some other weapons have also been created, although on a very small scale with little refinement of technique or skill. Typical medieval weaponry such as maces, scythes or spears may be on offer by some select smithies.
Far eastern weapons such as katanas, sais, shuriken, chigiriki or tessen do not exist on Dragons’ Cove, nor will they; this is the same for all weapons that are typically beyond medieval European culture.

  • A list of medieval European weapons and their history can be found here.

Dragons’ Cove is a peaceful place, and little effort has been invested in warfare. Heavy artillery has not been developed as there has never been any need for it. Nor does Siege warfare feature in traditional Surahnian tactics.
The Surahnian Rebels use primarily swords, spears and bows: the latter women are especially proficient in; the sword or spear being reserved only for men. The main weapon of the Surahnians is the spear, commonly given to new conscripts.
Recognition of the crossbow is much smaller than on Dragons’ Cove, but the weapon is starting to become more popular for its ease of use. Some variation in weaponry does occur, but Surahnians are a rigid race and many regard only traditional weapons.

Needless to say, there are no guns on Dragons’ Cove or the continent.

Enchanted & Magical Weapons

Some weapons may be imbued with magic, giving them an edge over normal weapons. These are difficult weapons to create and procure however. Magic imbued weapons may have only one type of magic- any of the five elements or ice, toxic or magma. Triad magic of light, dark or blood imbued weapons, or weapons that can shapeshift must be discussed with admins. Such weapons are not available to first time characters at all. Shapeshifting weapons are limited with up to three forms and morphing once per in-roleplay hour maximum.

• Enchantments on weaponry must be renewed every few months in-roleplay. Once a weapon has been imbued with one type of magic, it cannot take on another magic type even if the enchantment has run out. There is only so much magic a weapon can take!

• It is fine in general to have magic imbued into weapons/armour that the character would not be able to use normally (e.g A character that cannot use earth magic, but has some imbued into their weapon).

• However, for new members not yet being allowed to use light, dark and blood magic, even if the character cannot use the magic, it is not okay to include it in armour to try and circumvent this rule.

Custom Weapons & Armour

Anyone is entitled to make a custom weapon/armour, but it is often discouraged for the fact that such objects would be rare in Dragons’ Cove. Rules for custom weapons are as follows;

• Custom weapons/armour still make no allowance for ‘foreign’ weapons. Even if the design is very similar, it must not go by the same name or have heritage relating to the foreign culture; such cultures do not exist in Dragons’ Cove’s universe.

• Characters may have limbs made from metal, rock or other inorganic substances, but the drawbacks of such a thing must be understood and highlighted within their application.

• Just like characters, any ‘special effects’ or ‘powers’ that an armour/weapon gives MUST be explained with the magic types; look to see the areas of what each type does and label it accordingly.
