"Then I see little point for lingering any longer." Cleto said in a gruff voice, turning toward the exit. He couldn't understand Inuin's concerns, as he couldn't speak her language and Frost seemed content to continue the conversation without translating it for himself and Abraxas. Well, there was really only a handful of ways to proceed forward from this point anyhow. "Come along. Let us see what trouble we can rouse." An uncharacteristically mischievous grin pulled at Cleto's lips, revealing his row of sharp white teeth and he ducked out of the front door of the house. The shock of cold air was welcome after the warmth inside of the house, and the ice dragon filled his lungs with the crisp coldness before stepping out of the way to allow the others outside. Once they were out of the building, he would try and break the bauble on top. Who only knew what would happen if he tried to break it while there were others inside?

Climbing on top, huh. Well, it was the only idea they had been able to come up with and she was willing enough to try if it was going to give them some kind of edge in this situation. Or actually give them a possible result, maybe even the one they were hoping to achieve. It seemed odd and somewhat farfetched, but it was all they had to go on. But upon seeing Inuin’s shocked expression, she could see how their idea might be a very stupid one indeed. She couldn’t deny the fact that it was rather quite nice inside the forcefield, at least in comparison to the bitter cold reigning on the other side thereof. Wouldn’t they want to be free though? Or was it something else entirely that she was worried about? It would really have come in handy to speak the same language...

Nodding, Abraxas turned to follow Cleto. If they wanted to uncover Horus’ plot, they had to move. Growing roots inside this lovely little place wasn’t going to help them. Returning the ice dragon’s mischievous grin, Abraxas was instantly chilled down to her very bones when they stepped out of the building. Alas, there was nothing to be done about that, she had to suffer through it.

“Listen, why fiddle with the dome on Horus’ house when we can fiddle with this one? If they’re really all connected, it won’t matter which one we’re breaking. Or will it? I am a little lost,” the horse dragon admitted as she looked sheepishly from one to the other. Either way, a bauble was going to be broken. Remained to be seen which one and what this was going to bring.

When they were finally ready to get down to business, Abraxas felt a surge of excitement rush through her. As stupid as this may be or even dangerous, she thoroughly enjoyed their plan of action. It had been a while since she had gotten up to anything mischievous and this was just the kind of thing she liked doing. “The coast is clear!” she called down to the others from her slightly higher vantage point, having already lifted herself to the tops of the houses, hovering in the air with her wings beating a slow, steady rhythm.

Though he wanted to bring Inuin along for their debacle, Frost knew that if anything were to go wrong she would take the brunt of it, not only from Horus but her peers as well. It would ruin her position in the group, though he wouldn't object to taking her away... But that was thinking too far ahead. And with his track record, that probably was not a good thing to do. Urging her to stay inside, he followed Abraxas and Cleto out, taking the horse dragon's lead and clambering onto the top of the building adjacent to hers. From here, the bauble could be seen clearly; a foggy crystal ball, securely held in an iron setting at the center of the roof.
"We should only have to crush these thing." He said, pointing to the crystal situated by Abraxas. "And whatever we want to happen will happen. Ready?" Turning to his crystal, he raised his leg and brought it down hard, fracturing the crystal.

The effect was almost instantaneous; As soon as the foggy gem was shattered, the shimmering force field surrounding the village flickered, a thin stream of silver magic flowing from it to the crystal fragments, sapping away the smoke. What was left after the orb's destruction was dozens of small, clear crystal fragments and a slightly thinner fence. This was going to take a while.

Cleto only spared a few moments watching Frost's attempt to break the orb, and once he saw that it was easy enough to shatter the crystal, he went to the next closest house to find his own to shatter. He was nearly taller than the huts themselves, and so only had to rear back in order to get at one of the orbs. The roof groaned under the weight of his paws, protesting the extra weight of a dragon until Cleto was sure that it would have collapsed under his weight. Before that could happen, he quickly grabbed the foggy crystal on the pinnacle of his roof and pressed against its smooth surface. At first the orb simply pressed into the palm of his paw, then something inside of it gave way and the crystal cracked like a frozen pear, spidery webs of splintering appearing all across the surface until it simply gave up and shattered in his grip.

Cleto lifted his head to watch as the barrier flickered, the magic passing over his clenched paws like a sharp gust of winter wind. He lifted his paw to inspect the damage, picking through the pieces of the shattered crystal with his claw. This bore some further inspection later, when he could get back to the academy. Perhaps one of the mages there would be able to make use of the crystal fragments… Either way, Cleto abandoned his roof, all four paws back on the ground. "Any sign of Horus yet?" He called to the other two, already heading toward the nearest next unmolested hut.

Excitement, fear and doubt mingled around in Abraxas’ mind, fighting for the upper hand but she tried to push it all back and concentrate on the task at hand. This was what she loved doing, mischief. Why would she have any doubts about breaking a little crystal ball? Though she also knew that it wasn’t so much the doubt that it was going to work but the fact that her own hide might be at risk in case Horus took their little stunt the wrong way.

Watching Frost and Cleto grab for their baubles, the horse dragon did the same, bringing her hoof down hard on the ball, feeling it fracture almost before she had fully hit it. This was almost too easy! It looked fascinating though when the crystal splintered into a million little pieces, which were sent flying in every direction, almost like an extra special Christmas decoration over the snow-covered rooftops and flitting down into the room below. It really did look very awesome. Unsure why she did it, Abraxas swished her hoof through the fragments and scattered all over the roof and down onto the ground, spreading them as far as she could. It felt like the right thing to do, not only because it looked pretty but because she had a gut feeling she couldn’t quite place and which she promptly tried to ignore.

The flicker of the barrier became more noticeable when the third orb was cracked and the horse dragon flapped her wings a little harder to push herself upwards a little, looking from the winter to the ice dragon before scanning the area. “No sign, yet!” Once again, she picked up on Cleto’s move and took on the next crystal ball on the neighbouring hut as well. Once again, she managed to crack it fairly easily and the flicker in the magical fence surrounding the whole village was once again more noticeable.

All in all, this was actually rather fun.
Crack!
Had been rather fun, Abraxas corrected herself, as she heard the crack of the whip half a heart beat before she felt it connect with her wing, ripping out a few feathers and a piece of flesh as it seemed to pull her downwards in the same motion, instantly unbalancing her and sending her tumbling off the roof towards the ground.
With another loud crash, the horse dragon connected with the floor, weakly trying to keep her wings from being smothered underneath her weight. What had just happened?!

The attack in question came from a long, coiling strand of magic, which after impact began coiling in on itself, shrinking down into nothing but a solid handle held by the grizzled old hands of Horuss, whom at the moment looked more than a little annoyed. More like absolutely livid. With a fire burning in his eyes, he shouted at the trio in an unintelligible language, using what could only be assumed to be very powerful language. As his tirade continued, his speech slowly became less garbled, though retained a very heavy accent. "Hadur yeh," "Carsd bists," and something sounded a bit too much like 'I'm going to kill you" were prevalent in his screeching. The children, upon hearing his shouts, ran into the buildings all around the settlement, not wishing to be present for this battle.

Frost's eyes were locked on thhe man, a mix of shock and pain marring his expression as the image of the kindly old man was shrouded by this strange new persona. The Horuss he knew would never hurt anyone! Right? A confusing anger welled up in his chest, accenting his breath with thick, white puffs of his magic, hanging in the air heavily until falling to the floor in small shards of ice. He watched Horuss raise the handle of his weapon, another long whip starting to form from it, and in a rush took to the air.

The whip was still aimed at Abraxas, but Frost's quick reaction let him cleave through the cord of magic with a quick swipe of his tail, the crystal-like bauble on his tail severing the offending weapon easily before it contacted his already injured friend. He would not stand for this aggression!

Another crystal cracked under his paw, Cleto's pure force of weight enough to shatter the tiny fragile baubles. One crunched under his claws, and in the next second he heard the crack of the whip. Turning his head sharply, Cleto saw Abraxas fall, the flash of magic disappearing as quickly as it had come. Abandoning the hut that he stood by, Cleto turned fully and saw now that Horuss had finally been drawn out of the safety of his own hut. Seeing the small horse dragon in pain and the desperate action that Frost had taken to prevent another whip lash from striking her, Cleto let his long stride carry him to stand next to Frost.

"Finally, the wizard abandons his fortress. Tell us wizard, what foul magic are you practicing here?" He growled, head lowered menacingly as if he were preparing to ram the old man with his fringe of half-broken head spikes. He might have been and old dragon, but that made him no less fearsome of an opponent for the likes of a two-legged wizard. "What are you stealing from these children? Why?" The anger that he had experienced earlier when they'd come to the conclusion that the wizard might be stealing the life of the children to enhance his own was rekindling. At odds with his smoldering temper, frost began to gather in the air at the corners of his mouth, falling like mist as his ice magic manifested. “If you don’t have a very very good explanation, consider your life forfeit.”

Dizzy from the impact and more concerned about checking her wings, Abraxas didn’t instantly realise what was going on until the streets suddenly went eerily quiet. The children had all taken refuge, leaving the trio alone with the crazed magician. What was going on?
Before she got an actual answer to that question, Frost suddenly appeared in her peripheral vision and half a heartbeat later, a severed off piece of whip landed next to her, almost wiggling in just as sorry a manner as a dying snake would.

If nothing else, that brought her attention quickly back to the situation at hand. And the fact that the ice dragon had suddenly built himself up next to Frost as they were both staring down Horus. With a whimper when her injured wing accidentally touched the ground, the horse dragon got back on her feet and positioned herself next to the two other dragons. She may be injured, but she wasn’t going to miss the fun!

“And he means it, too,” Abraxas muttered somewhat audibly when she readied her own magic, the little she had or rather the little she had control over, though it worried her a little that both of the others had ice magic, whereas hers was more on the hotter side of things. Hopefully that would not pose a problem!

On the contrary! The horse dragon let her eyes roam around them for a quick scan before fixing back on Horus. Maybe a little heat was just what they needed in this fight. What would happen if Horus’ own hut suddenly started melting? She really, really, really wanted to ask Frost the question but was afraid to speak up in case Horus heard it too, and then it wouldn’t be a nasty surprise anymore, which was what Abraxas wanted to go for. Well, she might just have to wait and see.
