May-Rah posing as the mist seized the while that Silverwing was paralyzed and weakened by his own fear, relentlessly coiling her form around him, to asphyxiate and in one way-kill his mind to retaliate. Becase fear also was like a horrible disease, it was infectious and fear causes fear, and in turn eventually death in this case.
So on she went trying to choke him, the sparkles of magic a maniacal face with the purest strains of a predator, the palest casts of the moon lighting half of the face. He had a wolfish snarl, the amushing of a tiger, the roar of a dragon. A wild and despicable beast but in the shades of a human.
And with that this toxic look smeared on him, he snickered and raised the sword above his head savouring the moment.
And was just about to jerk his hand and bring the sword down once and for all....

Zartear's hand wiped the sword downwards and on missing it's target it hissed and the force swept like a knife through butter on the earth flying back up and causing Zartear to do a full turn from tyhe energy put in AND getting pushed back considerably afterward.
May-Rah as the mist seemed to turn over and over, before swift as a gail rushing back toward Silverwing....
Zartear accompanying May-Rah, they never seemed to let go and doggedly pursued with every painstaking move and he seemed none the worse for wear.
But the link would break sooner or later, and it'd happen just like that.
The iron clamp focus would only need to give less than an inch, then the dragons may see this, the link would shatter and then he'd be devastated.
Maybe to death?
He had to make sure this did not happen and that they were the first.

The mist turned over itself and seemed to release a snake like hiss, moving slow for a moment, before surrounding Silverwing's neck.
Fear was gone, but physical pain was always possible and so it tightened it's coil.
Zartear though paused a moment, not raising the sword for the umpteenth time to attack, he seemed to be deciding, well something at least....He tried to move the sword but it was hot and very hard to move....over powered?
Impossible!?
He did finally manage to swing it over, his shoulder and build more energy for this super-charged attack.
Finally he swung it at Vitreasa the slightly limped one, the sword literally howled, huge flares flying from it like an inferno were being uncaged...

It was like pulling a live wire, the sword seemed to roar completely incinerating the air around it, and the strike had been indescribably powerful, so much that Zartear was forced back by it, the sword sent yet another rush of excitement like his body was electrified, but then as the reality of heat came in, clashing with the power pain rampaged through him and he buckled over to his knees straining to keep in control...
The sword seemed to be getting a mind of it's own...too....much....power.
And that one word-power- was what this all appeared to be about.
He would not be mastered by his sword or the dragons, and right now it was hard to tell who fought for whom...
The dragons definitely on one side, but the sword seemed to be tearing into his mind and taking control of HIM a startling development in objects and mophing.
May-Rah too seemed to have manipulated the manipulator, her dark energy was being chanelled through him like a lightning rod, and yet he too seemed to be using her.
It was oh-so confusing and hurtful.
So ever the stubborn beast he stood back up, sweat dripping from his forehead and hands, the hands tightly holding the sword's hilt. Had it gotten too hungry.

He cried out and charged trying to release all this excess build up that didn't care for his terrible state of mind and well, body too.
Just
had
to
fight.

The sword moving statically to swoop again at Vitreasa.

For a moment he gasped breathing in air that wasn't stale and wriggling from the dragon. But instantly detected the huge chance and with another loud gasp crushed the sword against the dragon's only good shoulder...
As it smashed into the dragon's scales a few scales flicked from the dragon and he could feel the sword melting into them, welding some together, and he grinned with ecstasy driving it deeper and harder to make this dragon really cry and howl....
Even May-Rah watching took a step back seeing the look that Zartear had at that time..
Then the backlash came again.
As the sword cut deeper and burned into the very dragon's flesh the smell of it loomed into the air and through him....He began to shake struggling to go further overwhelmed with this addictive drive to go on and the continual agony in his bones and every cell...
He then released the exerted vigor and dropped to the floor face wrinkled in pain, clutching his right arm...how it seared in him.

It never crossed his mind to fully give in to this pain and surrender to it....Even as it made it's ever lasting stampede through his body...
He rolled onto his front, and mustering up his strength as much as was possible put his arms at his sides and pushed his body back up, and then he stood, well on his knees to trying hard to maintain this difficult posture as hurt screamed at him.
May-Rah walked over to him held him carefully by the arms.
"Get up." She said cooly, and he made no acknowledging word just the sounds of a growl through his teeth as he tried harder.
Before finally staggering to his unsure feet.
It was time to get back in control but how, he still felt the maliscious energy of destruction omitting from him in short sharp spasms.
Really very hard to ignore, even with all this training against the foe.
Then he opened his eyes waking up to what he had done and stopped his trembling, looking at the dragons lying on the floor.
His breathing still hard and deep, the alignment of his body awkward and severed but standing, seeing his victim in a no different light that before----equally as worthy to death. Even though it almost killed himself, and not even a glimmer of mercy showed intself in his murky eyes reflecting the bare razor-sharp senses but absolute exhaustion.
"Not today...." He looked to May-Rah patches of dried and sticky blood on his face along with plenty of dirt and even some burns to finish.

Zartear had only just refocused when the blast of infused flames hit his body like a flying boulder sending a final overwhelming surge of pain coursing through his arteries and vains and through his system like a deathly wave of horror. His face was emotionlessly limp and he made no attempt to resist it's power, he couldn't...
And within a second the flames had forced him back and thundered on his chestplate, he was sent flying backward, and flung with such muscle ripping force...tossed into the air for a split second diverting from the flames, before gravity did it's magic and he fell back into their fire....The blue and purple seemed to crackle and spit around him, heating his whole body and singing it's sorrowful song to his ears and mind.
And finally, calm...
The pain had fled as the world disappeard into a tranquil black. Starless, sunless, moonless, skyless.
The fire kept bruning at his arms, still missing the face...but continuing to eat at the exposed flesh trying to eat every morsel of him.
May-Rah opened her eyes still dizzy, and the sight that met her eyes was enough to wake anybody up, the pungeant scent of burned skin and scale creeping through the air as she saw fire eating Zartear as he lay quite painlessly unconscious.
She groaned but pushed herself forward and tried hard to pull him away from the fire, not much hope with a man in armour...

But she smiled and put her hand softly forward on his arm snuffing out the fire on them, the scars still there to be born by their wearer.
She then looked to him all over...The armour had taken a real battering if anything was to be sure...She knew that he was a fighter though he wouldn't give up yet, still that was the very element that almost killed him.
Not that she was bothered much by that, she had contributed about ninety nine percent to that after all, she was a mistress of dark magic. And his sword and armour well pretty much her own work and their force lay in the palm of her hand.

She then heaved herself to her feet, still looking down not paying a note to the dragons....With a final victorious smile she turned and walked away from the "crime scene" without a hint of remorse.

It had taken a long while, but Zartear gradually came to his senses and opened his eyes slowly, moving to get up and a screech of pain shot down him, a reminder of the battle, it was still night....but probably about 3 am....
He looked about, burnt out fires with charred grounds and cinders laying about...
He then looked back to where the dragons were still down on the ground. Now was the time to beat a hastey exit and where was May-Rah?
Why she had gone long ago.....
He stood up, feeling better than before at least and shifted away leaving nothing but a crimson bed of leaves behind him, and the figure of pale leaves where the fire had not touched...

Zartear very gradually faded back into "Life" unsure and disorientated in his settings...Then seeing the destruction around him the mermories came back into his mind like a million needles in the mind and a small flicker of pain was sent through his damaged nerves reminding him of his physical state.
Well, he knew how to fix /that/ but what exactly did he do now? He also saw both dragons were gone how annoying, Had they been unconscious it'd have been an effortless final blow but well deserved kill. How unfair things could be.
But May-Rah was gone too, that was to be expected though. He pushed himself up, leaned forward then slowly stood back up and moved his neck and shoulders around awakening his dead limbs.
Well it had been a worthy fight and he had left a scar on the landscape whihcm ade him rather proud, but he felt at the very back of his mind slightly unsettled. How he had lost all control of himself and how unlike him that was, well it shouldn't matter to him.

Picking up his steps he walked calmy away into well, he didn't know where, but he was going now.
But Zartear had a plan..he'd studied much of dragonscove before he left to venture it and take it's bounty.

There was one thing he was certain he wanted to do, and it was as close to war without being official as you could get.
