Birthdates and Aging
All character bios must be submitted with a birthdate so that in plot-time can translate to character aging. When your character’s birthday is reached within plot roleplay, you will be required to update your character bio to show their new age.
The current year in Dragons’ Cove is 2709; to see the approximate present day/month in roleplay, visit the
plot updates and information board.
Even if you do not wish for a character to participate in plot, a birthdate must be used, including the year born.
How your character matures is dependent on the species it is, as is its average lifespan. Non-dragon character races have all their aging info stated in the next section “Acceptable Character Races”. Non-dragon characters have an upper age limit of 500 years, although ancient characters can go over this age in-plot. As for dragons, read on.
A dragon’s lifespan is determined by their “endurance” stat (which also governs how much stamina they have in general). In addition, special dragons, regardless of their endurance, all live longer.
Endurance/Other | Average Lifespan (years) |
1* | 40 |
2** | 55 |
3*** | 80 |
4**** | 100 |
5***** | 110 |
Special Egg type | 140 |
Dragons in DC mature quite randomly; growing from a child to an adult can take anywhere from 1 year to 25 or so with longer living dragons typically taking longer to mature than younger ones.
